KXAN operates with 700,000 watts ERP. It was 5,000,000 watts ERP when it was analog.

KBVO's 75 watt ERP is due to antenna gain. The transmitter output (TPO) is 5 watts. Furthermore KBVO is directional, thus the 75 watts is what's produced in the main lobe. On the backsides of the pattern, the ERP is a staggering 27 watts.

If you have a high mounted fringe antenna point it towards Llano and try to pick up KBVO 14. I can get it quite well in Georgetown when I orient my attic antenna to the west, but at the expense of losing some Austin/Waco stations. So I point to the southwest to the sweet spot for everything... but with this compromise KBVO 14 is usually only watchable during the evening (with a DTVPal DVR).

My bad, thanks for catching it.

Do you have a link to the map of KBVO's pattern?

Just noticed that KEYE is being sold to Sinclair broadcasting (if FCC approves). I sure hope that the retransmission rights are in place for a long time since IIFC Sinclair plays hardball even more then LIN does. http://www.examiner.com/market-in-au...roadcast-group

I recently had HD TWC disconnected due to the cost. However, TWC seems to have forgotten to shut off my SD cable feed, so I still get SD channels 21-72 along with the usual 15xx in HD. I'm wondering if there is any way to get these channels, channels like Food network (32) or ESPN in HD? I'm not complaining because until tw cuts me off, its free, but curious if buying a TV tuner for a computer or a cable box of some sort would do the trick. I've read some stuff about renting a cable card from TW for $6/mo too. I'm really a tv noob, so please bear with me.

Help, anyone?

Do you still have cable internet through TW? If so, cable companies cannot turn off SD signals if you have internet. They can only turn off/on digital broadcasts. I suspect this is what's happening.

I do still have Road Runner. So basically as long as I have a splitter it isn't tw cable forgetting to turn off the SD cable channels, its that they can't, period?

If that is the case, do all Road runner users have SD cable, they just need a splitter, or is this a case of "because I had TV beforehand, they just can't cut off my SD signal now" ?

I believe that's the case.

Not likely.

Do you happen to have any source for this info? Googling it doesn't churn many results because its too many search terms. Any info I can glean would be helpful!

I too would love to know where it says cable co's cannot shut off SD channels for internet only customers.

Until then, the correct answer is most likely this, TWC has not come out to your residence and placed the filter/trap on your line to block the analog TV frequencies. The filter will allow the frequency(s) the internet needs but will kill the analog channels you are currently receiving. The in-the-clear HD QAM signals should remain unless you disconnect all service. When I lived in Austin, it took about a month for TWC to catch up. Perhaps you will be lucky and your line will remain unfiltered...

Its been well over a month is the thing. Also, theres no hope of converting these into HD channels, though?
Pretty sure that's a no. You need a cable box from TWC that is authorized to receive the channels or a TV/tuner card that takes a cable card which I believe would also need to be authorized.

Anyone want to guess if Belo and DIRECTV will come to agreement without the channel being pulled come 11/1, http://www.kvue.com/directv ?

I think you mean they sometimes have difficulty shutting off the analog signals. SD can definitely be digital.

I showed breakup in all local HD channels.

Saw it also, second time in a couple weeks at about the same time that I saw it on the HD channels, SD were fine.

Good, it wasn't must me then! I called and reported it, as I saw the same thing as well...HD bad, SD good.

If anyone with a DishNetwork DVR with an over the air tuner is reading this, please respond!

I'm considering going to Dish, but want the OTA capability like I now have with Direct. But I've been told that on a market-by-market basis you may or may not get a complete program guide for the subchannels, such as 18-3 and 54-2. Does anyone here have any info on this?

Thanks! Mike Nassour

I'll need to double check when I get home, but I believe I no longer get the generic digital data for 18-3. I believe I also get the proper programming guide for 54-2, too.

Durnit, that's what I was afraid of. I'd really appreciate you checking this for me, as those are the two channels we're really interested in.

thanks! mn

I just looked at my 722 box. 18-3 and 54-2 just show "Digital Service", no programming info.

Does anyone know if TWC locks down all of the cable card channels or is it "copy freely"? I am looking to get a cable card with my HDHR3 Prime.
TWC locks all but the locals and c-span.

Is there any box from timewarner better than the 8240HDC? Its so slow, its worse than my 6 year old 8300.

Is there anyway to get the new boxes? Everytime I go there they only have the same 8240. You can't even call them to see if anything is available. So I just waste 45min to check if anything is new.

They have the Motorola DCX3400-M that I think is their best and most stable box ever. It doesn't support an external drive but it does have a 500GB internal drive. I picked one up at the new service center in Hancock Center about six months ago.

They recently told a friend of mine that he couldn't choose what DVR model, that he had to take what they gave him. But I bet if you threatened to move to Dish or DirecTV they might be more willing to give you the Motorola one.

Anyone here have TWC and use their own dvr setup (HDHomerun/Ceton)? I just contacted them and they say that I need 1 STB to get cable through them. I had never heard of this before and I do not need the box since I only want a cable card to use with my HDHomerun Prime. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

UPDATE: Nevermind, got a hold of someone who is a bit more knowledgeable over the phone. They do not require you to get a box to get service. A cablecard will suffice.

You probably know this but you are going to want a tuning adapter as well. They should not charge you for it if I remember correctly. Please let me know how it goes as I am considering that route after my Tivo contract ends.
