The coatings are almost limitless .
I for one would be prepared to pay for this system if it gave a flawless surface.

Sounds great. But, well beyond the means of most DIYers. I believe such was discussed long ago. AVS member "mandarax" comes to mind. Do a member search and give him a PM. He has abundant exposer to many screen technologies and should be able to help you out. Best wishes.

Yes, about a year ago. But Powder Coats require a Constant Static Charge to be applied to the material as the paint is going on. Wood, Drywall, Plastic Mirrors, all resist such an application.

I'm working on a "Robot applied" coating of "Plastic Paint" on the Mirror that will afford a "perfect' finish. Give it about 90 days and it will become available to AVS'ers direct from the MFG at a price ONLY AVS'ers can get it for.

This "Robot applied" application will also include a version of the old "Dual Sided Paint on Clear Plexi "scheme that brings back the SM/MM Glory Days.

Stay tuned.

Yeah right. Right into a Mfg Screen reccomendation.

This is DIY, not "Support your Local MFG Screen Merchant."

Perhaps a flawless surface isn't the order of the day. Did you see MM's new test with the hedious wax paper?
Got to get back to redoing some test panels. One coat of mmud over a mirror and things were a little fuzzy though brighter. Two coats and I lost the brightness. Too thick. But yet the mirror wasn't totally out of the picture. It was still assisting the blacks as if painted over SM or black paint since it was darker then the straight mmud panel. So there seems to be a point where you can have too much mmud and yet still not completely take the mirror out of the picture. And then there is also the chance that the mmud wasn't true mmud whether through components ( UPW had brown sludge under lid ) or through not thoroughly mixing. And man, that deep base is thick stuff. Back to the drawing board. Thinner coats, dry rolling...it can't be that hard.

I was a little disrepectful to the hosts of this forum referring to the gallery as itty bitty and tinsy winsy to do anything with when I thought I would be lucky to fit one photo in it but with a little downsizing and their own further downsizing one can fit allot of photos in there. My gallery is a jumbled mess right now but with some renaming ( gallery allows sorting by file name ) and better pictures in the future one could put together a meaningful gallery. Don't look now though..its hideous

So thank you AVS for a great forum and tons of space to post pictures in.

Oh, I don't know about your efforts being hedious, for they show obvious differences. But you need to post as to what panel is which though.

Ignore it. He obviously has nothing better to do other than disrupt and disprespect someone else's thread.

Boredom, probably.

But statement stands. This IS DIY. Later on.....who knows?

I told you so...., didn't I?

I'm curious about this new mix is it better than M mud ?

I am glad you have finally listened to me about putting an even film over the mirror instead of playing with that old paint solution .

Are you into actual testing phase next MM ? Can you tell me if the new application actually helps the blurriness I experienced before ? and if it does I will buy one off ya I promise !! I know you said that the slight blurriness helped lower res LCD projectors , but it would be nice to have a crisp clear screen for CRT's as well !! have you developed this yet MM ?

So how soon can we expect to see one of these new screens in production and see some actual comparison screen shots MM ?

Bruce

PS MM please just adress the questions !!! please no long moral speaches !!! just about the products if possible . I am curious and serious on all these points I asked . Is it a notably better screen ?

Well, screens don't seem to shake up matters much lately, but, the new hardware has. Are we two to three generations away from perfect digital FP? I'm guessing so.

That, and a limlted bank account. Kamel, none of this need ever happen if we all could afford a StudioTek 130 and a G90.

See how easy it is to become 'literate'?

I guess I finally found something to go with all the original test panels. What's next? Pocket DVR/Camcorder/PJ?

C'mon, it ain't summer yet.
Hey, a little OT, but does anyone have a new gizmo they want to share?

I'm thinking about replacing all of my windows with thick plexiglass
I could frost them and put little projectors everywhere displaying a mirrored image, giving my house a cool animated stained glass window look at night.

The preceding message was brought to you by BFTSOI (bump for the sake of it)

Not a bad idea at all, assuming you live in a good neighborhood. I recall a while back a member did something similar. Using a couple of frosted shower curtains covered the entrance to his garage and as the trick-or-treaters came by they got to see Monster's Inc. He said it was quite the hit of the neighborhood.

How about gray scale matching light fusion? Want a perfect 6500k screen? Want it perfectly optimized for YOUR projector?

Well, it's in the making. No longer "one size fits all". Rather, custom computer matched to the color balance of your PJ.

Stay tuned. Details forthcoming.
