Anyone else haearing voice echo during commercials during Thursday Night Football on NBC?
Not here. Must admit I didn't stay with commercials on KGW too often while the Beavs were diving in Cincy. What I did notice was this was the 1st game on NBC where I could actually hear the calls from the referee.
Yes, the referee was coming through on the center speaker for a change.

For anyone that hasn't noticed, OnDemand has some of the new series premiers available now, including the complete pilots of Bionic Woman, Chuck, Journeyman, and Life in HD.

No, I didn't notice. Thanks much for the heads up.

Bionic Woman has a supporting role by our home girl Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica.

I was forwarded an email from a friend who works for CB Seal. Anyone know what's happing to Comcast channel 15?

Here's the relevant info:

We have been notified by Comcast that they have sold cable Channel 15 and that it will no longer be theirs as of October 1. This impacts our Tour of Homes show, as we will need to migrate it from channel 15.

We are working hard to find a suitable replacement option for the show. Because there are no other available Comcast channels, we have been reviewing other cable channels as well as some broadcast channels.

Thirty years later and Bionic Woman still has a local connection, quite a coincidence.

Yes, interesting. I like Katee in the new role, but I'm not sure about the show. It seems a bit hokey, but maybe they just need time to get things set up. The "Chuck" pilot was great, IMO. Haven't watched the others yet. But glad to know they're there.

OK, TV now out for over an hour here in West hills!

OK...now fixed. What happened is that I got FIOS Internet and had the Internet service stopped from Comcast. Several weeks later, I got a final Internet bill and there was a $99 charge that I would get credit for when I turned in the Modem. So, I turned it in last week...and they gave me credit, zero'ed out my Internet portion of the bill.....and came out and disconnected me!!

That is what happened to my TV service, and they say they show no order to come out and disconnect me.

I'm relegated to watching SNF in my den tonight on my Tosh 26" LCD without 5.1 . Each of the NFL.com and Toyota commercials sound like they are coming out of a tunnel. Other spots seem to be OK. I think this may be what you experienced last week. I didn't hear the effect on my 5.1 setup. So rest easy - you're not alone.

mspan,

A similar thing happened to me with Comcast in Vancouver. I canceled my Comcast broadband service. Comcast climbed the pole and put a filter in the line. The filter trashed my TV signal. When I called Comcast, they insisted that I had something go bad in my TV or VCR. After thy finally sent out a technician to check, they realized that it was the filter that they put on the line causing the problem.

With us, they said it was disconnected, but there was no order to disconnect anywhere! I guess it was magic!

A few days ago the menu, etc. was transparent and you could not read it. Also, live tv on 708 and 710, etc was jerky. Titles rolling up the screen seemed to stop/start.

Leno seemed to stop/start as well.

I unplugged the 3412 and the color came back on the menu, but it seems jerky again.

Anyone else seen this? Did they roll out new firmware? Are they still planning the TiVo type menu system?

Just save yourself the heartache and get a Tivo HD.

...and some have put external 500GB drives on them. However, don't we then need two cards and Comcast charges! Also, on demand will not work with them...but I guess we can use a non dvr box for that.

Hmmm, TiVO ....

We're leaving town in the morning for 9 days. So I sat down this evening to set my 3416 to record a bunch of the shows that we will miss next week. Through next Wed. I was fine but when the guide got to Thurs., 10/4, prime time was populated with at least 50% "To Be Announced". The percentage rose in each succeeding day making programming the DVR extremely challenging, especially for new shows and new time slots.

Now maybe there was a recent reboot that I was not aware of but then wouldn't all the time slots after a certain point have the TBA and not just some?

Hmmm, TiVO ....

Good luck with that...maybe Bicker can ease your pain, since there's really no difference anyway.

I feel your pain. In the old days, we could have two weeks of iGuide. But no more. If you get a week, you're lucky.

The hardware supports multi-stream cards - which can serve 2 streams from a single card - but last I'd read the software didn't yet support it (although I just got an update yesterday or the day before… maybe it's been added?). That's not the only problem, though… Comcast may not even offer them; I have yet to find anyone at Comcast who even knows what they are - let alone knows how to requisition them - so single-stream cards are all I've seen. Still, $1.70/mo for both cards + ~$8/mo for the TiVO service (when prepaid for 3 years) that gets you the most reliable and fully-functional DVR on the market is a lot better than $12/mo for Comcast's pitiful excuse.

I never used OnDemand much, and with a terabyte, I wouldn't have anywhere close to enough time to use it… I kinda missed having it for the NBC previews of Chuck, Journeyman, Bionic Woman and Life (all in HD no less), but that just means I had to wait a little longer 'till I could TiVo them. Though I would have liked to do a comparison of compression quality… realtime-encoded is looking pretty crappy these days, though Blu-Ray has spoiled me.

We also use very little On Demand...free only. But sometimes it is good to know it is there.

Like the TiVo deal but will wait 'til I get FIOS TV!

Yeah, I love his posts. We should count our lucky stars to have drives > 80 Gb on the Motos.

Also, the comcast rep that replied to an email I sent in said the HD CSN Blazer games would be aired on 788 (MOJO). IIRC that is the same channel they inserted the HD games from FSN last year too isn't it?

Well, I guess 303, Tube Music, is gone. Didn't watch much but there were times it was good and it had 5.1 sound as well.
Well, the NBC football sound is worse than ever. Anyone catch the Sunday Night game? Almost no ref or Comm'l sound. Don't care about comm'ls but it would be nice to hear the calls on the field! Why can't they fix this?

Agreed.

I also get a weird audio problem when they show the pre-recorded bits of the players talking about the game and spouting all of the "give it your best" cliches.

It sounds like they're talking into a tin can and there is very noticeable digitalized echo. Anyone else get this? (I also get during some HD commercials. IIRC, the Toyota Tundra ones had it last night.)
