Tyler, TX - HDTV - Page 35

The FCC has put a freeze on pending channel 51 applications, and will expedite channels wanting to move off of channel 51 in anticipation that the channel will be turned over to the wireless industry for wireless broadband services. This will eventually affect KCEB CW54 which transmits on RF channel 51.

http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Rele...-11-1428A1.pdf

Where will they go? They could go back to channel 38, which was their original digital assignment. Another option is to move to RF channel 10, which was KLTV's old digital assignment. Channels 2-6 are also available, but IMHO VHF low has proven useless for DTV.

London Broadcasting may use this as an opportunity to move KCEB from the KFXK tower to the KYTX tower, along with a new channel assignment.

So, does this mean they (the government) are moving forward with free WiFi?

I suppose if everyone used free government WiFi, in the event American's stand up to kick the government to the curb, they could simply turn off the wireless signals to stop all communications.

But then, I'm a "Paranoid, Big Brother is always trying to control us" person.

I don't know about the free government wi-fi thing, but I believe what they are doing is creating a guard band between the top of the tv band, which will be channel 50, and the spectrum that belongs, or will belong, to the wireless industry, which starts at channel 52. Right now, no stations that are authorized on 51 are being forced off, but new apps are not being accepted, any station with a pending app for 51 must find a new channel. Certain rules will be waived to expedite any existing channel 51 that wants to move.

There are proposals out there that calls for reconfiguring the tv band to channels 2-30, so it might behove London to try to move KCEB to somewhere in this band, so they don't have to up and move again in a few years if/when channels 31-50 are eliminated.

Wondering if anyone has any luck in the Tyler area picking up Dallas stations? preferably KTXA-21. I would love to get the Stars games that they show on Saturdays.

Dallas stations are possible in Van Zandt and Henderson counties, but in Tyler proper you have to have either a massive antenna system or you can catch stations when tropo is active. Remember that most DFW stations, including KTXA, transmit from the Cedar Hill antenna farm, which is SW of Dallas and almost 100 miles as the crow flies from downtown Tyler.

As of 1/28, low power digital KLPN-LD is on the air in Longview on channel 47.1. It is a copy of 51.2. Analog channel 58 appears to be gone.

I noticed this Sunday that KYTX 19.3 has changed from Azteca America to This TV. This TV was previously carried by KLTV before changing to Bounce.

Anyone know why London Broadcasting flipped the programming on 19.2 (METV to CW) and KCEB 54 (CW to METV)? I know Directv has dropped 14 KCEB CW in favor of 55 WDCW CW. I'm guessing 54 is protected by must carry and the sub channel isn't and METV is more popular than CW perhaps. just curious.

I also wished 7.2 would revert back to THIS Network instead of Bounce (BET clone).

I wonder what that was all about.

Obama supporters?
I doubt that Raycom's decision to add Bounce to their stations has anything to do with Obama or his supporters, but did you know that This TV is now available on KYTX 19.3? Also on KSLA 12.2 if you can receive it.

Not sure of exact reason why London swapped CW and ME-TV, but what KCEB was carrying was actually CW+, which is primarily designed for sub-channel and cable only outlets in smaller markets, much like the old KWTL that was the WB affiliate on Longview cable. I am hopeful that London will be adding additional subs to KCEB in the near future. It would be nice to see Antenna TV and RTV on KCEB subs.

Raycom has dropped ThisTV on most of their stations and replaced it with Bounce. This is no longer carried on WBTV-3 in Charlotte, and has not been picked up by another channel in that flagship market. I would rather see This than Bounce, but my favorite subchannels are MeTV and Antenna TV.

Cool. 19.3 used to be Aztecha or Telemundo didn't it? I'd removed that channel in Media Center, and 12.2 only comes in when the weather is clear and the trees have no leaves.

19.3 was previously Azteca America. Telemundo LaVida is on 7.3 and Estrella is on 56.2.

KCEB 54.2 is now on the air showing Mundofox promos. The new Spanish language network officially launches Monday 8/13.

With the right antenna and tuner you would be surprised....I am 90miles from the Houston antenna farm in Missouri City.....I get MOST of the full power stations 85-90% of the time and my antenna is only 20ft high (RS VU-90 with a CM7777 right below it) London carries TXA21 Ranger games on a LD down here in SETX..they may do that on a subchannel up there already (They for reason do not advertise the LDs and few people know they are on the air; they carry My and MeTV networks and they are adding the new spanish FOX network (wont be in HD)

@BPTTV: Is that an old oil derrick you're antenna is mounted to?

KYTX appears to be completely off the air & KCEB has a signal but a black screen at this time.
