"KETK and KLTV HD have been off since wednesday night. Has anybody heard anything? "
I was worried my Hdtivo was flaking out on me. I have the same issue I tune to 7.1 or 56.1 and it says their is no signal. But when I test the signal it's strong.
So I re-scanned the locals and 7.1 is coming in as 10.1 and 56.1 is 22.2. I think for some odd reason these two stations stopped send the signal that tells or system what channel to re-map to. Strange that the both stopped at the same time.
Update: Everything is back to normal.

Posts: 29 I've noticed testing of the 56.2 subchannel has begun.....with a second HD feed w/o audio of KETK....lower quality than 56.1

And a strange occurance......I usually reset the channel search every now and then to see if I pick up any other DTV channels.....and after the reset, both KLTV and KETK failed to remap to channels 7 and 56. KLTV shows up as DTV 10 and KETK shows up at DTV 22, instead of remapping to 7 and 56, respectively....anyone else having this problem? "

NO COINCIDENCE!

Got home, turn on Ketk 56.1, video W/ no audio for ONE full second, then black screen, signal 92 on 56.1, I had to manually tune 22.1 (NOT 22.2 anymore?) Did a "ADD digital channels" scan, (Sony KD34XBR970 34" CRT direct view built in tuner), same issue at 56.1 , but it added 22.1. It's 1080i 16:9, but NO station or program information. I've had this issue with KTAL 6.1 gone, only at 15.3 & KSHV 45.1 only at 44.3, no pro. & stat. info, for a couple of weeks or less.
Awaiting kickoff, had some pixelation on a crowd shot, Steelers fans waving the yellow "terrible towels".
MAJOR Pixel's every play!!!! When they line up and set , PERFECT picture, snap and motion brings pixels & "mosquito noise" I think its called. It doesn't look good at all yet. Perhaps a compression bug to be worked out at KETK, (who are doing a GREAT JOB there getting it up for NFL! Thanks!)
Back to the ch. # issues, try a "erase &scan" next commercial. Ok 56.1's gone, still same as before at 22.1, but now KYTX 19.1 & 19.2 are gone, now at 18.3 & 18.4, NO program or station info, however KFXK51.1, Ktre9.1, Ktbs3.1, Ksla12.1, Kmss33.1, LPB24.5, KPXJ21.1 are normal, this is strange.
Rotated antenna back toward shreveport , did "add dig. channels", still same. That's KETK, KYTX, KSHV, KTAL and also KLTV ( by gshamill & stdjsb25) only resolving at the PHYSICAL channel, missing the p&s info.

edit- After game did a "erase &scan",, now properly resolving all but Ketk, still 221., info now working AND KSHV still 44.3 , no p&s info.

Ketk just getting HD, probably be back at 56.1 soon.
KSHV has been that way,,

KETK has finally switched 56.2 onto Weather Plus and the picture quality on 56.1 hasn't been affected much.....I can see some pixelation on 56.1 during the Tonight Show, but other than that, it's pretty good....
I noticed Thursday night that KETK was broadcasting their audio in Dolby 5.1 but as of Friday and now they are back to stereo.
KETK was really lousy with SNL tonight......all but the closing of the show was aired in 4:3 Letterbox.....they must still be training their master control people on when to switch from SD to HD.
I noticed that someone had put on Wikipedia that KLTV-DT's simulcast of KLTV's SD signal on 7.3 will be replaced soon by The Tube...can anyone confirm if this is happening and when it will happen?
The two 3:00 football games yesterday on ABC & NBC that were both nationally broadcast in HD were shown locally in SD. So, was SNL last night. I just find it hard to believe some has to manually flip a switch everytime there is a HD show coming on. Does this mean some poor sucker has to "flip" a switch everytime a SD commercial comes on during a HD broadcast? It seems more logical that the switch would be flipped to hd all the time and they could upconvert the non-hd stuff.
At least someone took the time to flip the switch for last night's Texas-Ohio State game.
Nothing better than watch Texas lose in HD. Anybody else notice by the end of the game Mack had nearly bitten a hole in is lip.

KETK keeps swithing back and forth from SD to HD during the Colts vs Giants game. Started in HD with terrible sound, now the sound is fine but no HD?
Is it me, or is KYTX-HD experiencing no sound? They had sound a little bit ago during the Katie Couric report, but during Bush's speech...nadda.
KYTX apparently fixed the sound problem inbetween CSI and Letterman.....must have been a glitch on their end....

Raycom has put The Tube on most of their stations, so I am not surprised that it will eventually end up on KLTV-DT.

I still can't get any audio on KLPN 51.2. Have tried all possible audio settings. Have wiped all channels and did a complete rescan - no change. My STB just is not resolving any audio. Must be compatibility issue between KFXK's audio settings and my STB.

Anyone have any contacts at KFXK that I can complain to?

Does anyone have problems with the digital signal from KETK or is it just me? I am less than six miles from the transmitter but most of the time I get wildly fluctuating signal strength with freeze ups of both video and audio to the point that it is not watchable. This is with my antennae pointed directly at the transmitter. I can point my antennae at KETK and watch the other digital stations with very high signal strength, higher than I ever get from KETK which is almost in my back yard. Some days (or nights) I get KETK perfectly with no fluctuation in signal strength. Last night was a bad nite, had to watch leno on cable. Anyone else observing this anomaly?

No HD Today on KETK?

If I recall correctly, the Today Show was supposed to begin HD this morning with the arrival of Meredith Viera....well, as of today KETK is not broadcasting the show in HD apparently.

My guess is that KETK is either taping the show from the 6AM CT live feed and therefore not capable of HD storage (I've always thought that NBC did a tape delay feed for each time zone, or I could be mistaken), or KETK simply failed to switch to HD for this one....like they did with SNL Saturday night and football Sunday night.

What kind of setup are you using? I had those problems when I first tested DTV, but was using a Technisat Air2PC ATSC Tuner Card on a Windows XP Home system, but when I got an actual DTV equipped TV set back in July, those problems just disappeared. I live about three miles south of Frankston towards Neches, and get a perfect signal from KETK without any problems whatsoever. My guess is that you've got electrical interference due to your proximity to the transmitter.

Sounds like classic multipath. The signal at your location is so strong that you are getting a bounce off a nearby metal structure. The bounced signal is being received a few nanoseconds later than the direct signal, but that's long enough for your receiver to think that it is receiving two different signals, and it cannot get a good lock. Are they any tall metal structures within a mile of your location? Look for cell phone or radio towers, water towers, or power transmission towers.

Multipath in the analog world causes ghosting and fluttering. Most of us who ever watched analog OTA remember the flutter in the picture and sound when an airplane would fly over. Same concept, except in the digital world, multipath will cause wildly fluctuating signal levels and picture pixellation and breakup.

The key to beating multipath is to determine where it is coming from an null it out. If you can identify some possible reflection sources you can try rotating your antenna such that it is at a 90° angle to the reflection. This is not always possible if there are multiple reflections, or if your antenna requires precise aiming at the transmitter to get lock. You may just have to play around with the orientation of the antenna to find the best combination of good signal/least multipath.

Other options include getting an antenna with less gain and/or smaller beamwidth. What type of antenna are you using now? A small yagi might work well for this situation, or even an amplified indoor type. Whatever you do - stay away from the multidirectional, amplified outdoor antennas. Being multidirectional, these antenna will let in reflected signals from all directions. Also, if you have a preamp try bypassing it to see if any difference. You can also try an inline attenuator if you still have too much gain.

Good luck.

I use a small amplified radio shack antenna (looks kind of like a plastic boomerang) mounted in my attic. Actually I do have a electrical transmission line coming though our subdivison about 200 yards from me which is in the direct path to the KETK transmission tower. Actually the signal strength is much lower than what I get from the other three digital stations, on my meter on scale of 1-100 KETK comes in, at best, low 60's whereas CBS, ABC and Fox are being received in the high 70 to low 90 range, even when antenna pointed at KETK. I'm thinking that the two Central heating units hanging in my attic may also be a cause of "multipathing" I'm going to try the suggestions I received. Thanks!

KETK HD is on Cox cable tonight on channel 730. Lots of pixelation with any panning camera view.

KLTV looks awful tonight on my plasma. Lots of blotchiness all over the screen, especially on flesh tones.
Anyone experiencing the same problems I'm having with KYTX tonight? Their signal keeps on cutting in and out and suffering from breakup.
I am now getting audio on KLPN 51.2. I didn't make any changes...it just started working.

The same goes with the Today Show.....ever since Today started broadcasting in HD about two weeks ago, KETK has failed to bring us Today in HD.

The best I can suggest is to direct your comments to KETK via their website....perhaps if enough complain, change can come and KETK can start broadcasting HD programs correctly.

I watch My Name Is Earl in HD last night on KETK. It was on the whole show.

Why is the Ryder cup not in HD on KETK? It is digital on my Directv but the aspect ratio is 4:3, not 16:9.

Well, I don't know if NBC is actually broadcasting it in HD. If not, then your TV will show 1080i, but it will be in standard definition and in the 4:3 format.

I can't believe NBC is not broadcasting the Ryder Cup in HD. UHD had it yesterday and it looked great. The picture is not bad at all and the side bar on my Zenith HD-SAT 520 grid shows the HD logo and it is highlighted. But so too is the "CC" highligted but there are no close captions appearing so something is wrong somewhere. I'm getting the picture OTA, through the 520 and it looks about as good as HD but it is 4:3. I always thought a true HD picture, as opposed to a digital one, has to be in 16:9 ratio. If it is anything other than 16:9, it is not HD - as I understand it anyway.

Any word on if Suddenlink cable provides clear QAM or if they encrypt all HD feeds?
