So Sinclair actually spends money on their stations? If so that is good to know.

During the past 2 weeks, WOKZ-CD 50-1 and 50-2 Kalamazoo, WOHO-CD 33-1 and 33-2 and WOGC-CD 25-1, 25-2 and 25-3 Holland have signed on. WOKZ-CA, WOHO-CA and WOGC-CA have terminated analog transmission.

The FCC site says WOKZ is 0.1 kW. Is that correct? It doesn't seem like 100 watts is going to cover much area.

Thanks for the update Mike. I'll try to find time to scan for channel 50 here in Kzoo this weekend.

NE side of what town? I can tell you we monitor WOKZ at the WOTV transmitter site in Orangeville about 20 miles away. We monitor the 2 Holland stations at the WOOD studio site also about 20 miles.

Sorry about that. My mistake "assuming". NE side of GR by Cornerstone Univ. Also, are they just retransmitting signals or do they have their own programming?

WOHO, WOKZ, WOBC, WOMS, WOLP all rebroadcast WXSP-15.1 and 15.2, (15.2=Radar). WOGC rebroadcasts WOOD-TV 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 on 25.1, 25.2 and 25.3.
Do those signals all map to 15.1 or do they map to their individual channel numbers?

No, they map to their RF channels and are all rebranded. The exception to this is WOLP CD, they rebrand to 15.3 and 15.4. The reason for this is because it operates on RF 41. There are many tv sets that when they scan have a problem when there are two different stations one with an RF 41 the other (WOTV) with a virtual 41. I have seen the same problem with WWMT and WOOD TV. WWMT operates on RF8 and WOOD TV on virtual 8.

It seems most TV set manufactures have taken the ATSC standards and only implemented what they choose. I have found that the Panasonic Veira models no longer have a guide, only an info button. Most manufactures have also abandoned using the TSID.

I scanned and receive WOKZ 50.1 and 50.2 here in Kalamazoo by the airport with no issues. Also got it in the guide in Windows Media Center however there is no guide data yet. Unsure if that will fill in over the next couple days or if guide data needs to be filed for the stations.

Thanks for the work and the updates!

Funny that UMTC told you this, just yesterday they told me no new things were really on the horizon. Future HD would be coming, but no idea when or what. Hope your info is more correct than mine!

Is anyone else annoyed by Fox 17's scrolling message about DirecTV? I hate how they change the picture to a smaller one to scroll the message.

YES!!!!! Get your stupid dispute fixed privately and quit annoying us the viewers!
Or better yet, get the equipment to scroll in HD. It is going to be a long storm season without HD on Fox17.

I absolutely am annoyed. It's too bad Fox 17 is trying to use their viewers as pawns in this negotiation and annoy everyone who is not a Directv subscriber. Just makes me glad I cut the cord with Directv 2 years ago and am not affected.

Tribune is not blameless in this whole thing. I bet they want some ridiculous amount to carry their stations on DTV. P.s. in the end the viewer will take it in the shorts with a price hike next year.
Well Fox17 is currently down on Directv now. Just a black screen up talking about their dispute.
Basically, it is like a bad divorce, where the parents (Tribune and Direct) are using the children (viewers and subscribers) against each other.

It is happening more often and I feel will only escalate as ad revenues shrink and operating cost rise.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am getting TIRED of all the rate hikes. OTA was the best decision for 2 reasons. 1) No monthly cost just to have it around. 2) that's just what it is "having around". I don't watch much TV any more just the wife does. She's the ONLY reason I still have satellite. Ditch DirecTV and I'll save $1300 a year. I've reverted. In the last 12 months I've moved from TV and coffee machines to Radio and stove top percolating of coffee. I don't need the world at my fingertips; and I don't need the whole world knowing there to find my fingertips!

I am wondering why they are blacking out their HD signal on my local cable co.(Broadstripe)in Hastings., which has nothing to do with DTV..

Could be Tribune had other contracts also expire like with Broadstripe OR Broadstripe actually get's their signal from DirecTV and redistributes it.

I'm not sure but it's back up today, I wonder if it was an accidental thing?

Interesting: http://investor.directv.com/releaseD...leaseID=661302

Basically DirecTV had a deal with Tribune management who they have been negotiating with for months only to find out a day later that management had no power to actually make such a deal as the hedge fund managers and bank owners of Tribune in bankruptcy nixed the deal. What a mess.

WWMT-Channel 3 acquired by Baltimore-based Sinclair Broadcast Group

Hopefully a change for the better.
