Building a room...need some wall treatment ideas - Page 10

I really like the inkjet fabric idea - why not call attention to the acoustical panel as art/photo rather than a big black blob with low WAF?

The problem is figuring out how to do big ones cheaply - otherwise it is poster printing on pages that are sewn together

I agree with you Kras. With that process you don't have to be an artist to do it. Just capture the image you want on the web and away you go. The only downside is the printing cost as you mentioned.
If there is not a space prohibition, a person could back light the panels as well. Or maybe be able to some how put lighting behind the fabric for another effect.
Years ago in school we did some silk screening. Though somewhat messy it was an inexpensive process. The down side is the time involved and every color having to be done in sequence instead of parallel process.

The lighting is going to be rather difficult as behind the fabric will be full of fiberglass.

As for cost, as long as you don't mind geometric patterns instead of pictures, you can do a lot and not worry too much about exact sewing. You can also just do a series of smaller pics as a collage and mount them all together if you don't want to sew at all.

There is just something about fabric art and light that just makes it luminous and have depth. Yes shine the light on it - not thru it - whole point is to do an acoustical panel here!

Likely cheaper for large format - is just buy the fabric art prints and stuff the fiberglass in them. The artist is amortizing the equipment across a series of prints. My wife bought some of these for cheap for family christmas presents.

Check out your local arts/craft fair/market!
