back to normal here as well...

Truck came to house, spoke with the guy. Past 3 days the Milford/Amherst area had outages. Amps were blowing fuses and the equipment is rated to 90 degrees.. So heat and power consumption related. Looks like we're out of the woods for now, and they are on top of it it. Its only going to be the mid-nineties today.. Still cool out there now, mid 70s..

Comcast corporate was kind enough to give me a call, gave me 2 day credit on my next bill.. a good gesture and glad to see they reached out to me.

Finally some good news on the all digital transition.. Got a letter today from Comcast, we are getting some new HD on October 18th:

333 XFINITY 3D
334 ESPN 3D
712 Univision HD
713 Telefutura HD
716 WNEU-60 Manchester HD
741 QVC HD
789 Bravo HD
792 CNBC HD
and.. *drum roll*... its baaaaack!
829 HDNet

The sheet has a few other SD channels being added as well, LATV, Jewelry TV, etc..

The sheet has major error, all the channels I marked above are listed as already being available in most towns (Including Amherst, Milford, Londonderry, Merrimack, etc..) So the markings are the inverse of what they should be.. oops!

Ditto on the BBC America HD.. for now i'll rely on getting the shows in HD via "other methods".. besides they are unedited for the American audience that way, and better as a result..

Wow...where in NH do you guys live??...Supposedly Nashua comes out of the Londonderry head and I have had all these channels for well over a year....mine start at 773 - 915....still waiting for BBCA HD and I.D.HD though...oh yeah, and more Starz! and HBO's.
and a ps...I have a couple of buddies that works for Comcast and they said that Mass. & NH should have had phase II all completed by now, as a matter of fact it was originally scheduled to be done between this past April thru June (giving us about 170 + HD channels)..but...Conn. & Vermont were so far behind the rest of New England that they decided to finish up phase I & II in those states before finishing up phase II in Mass & NH.

Most of those on this thread are Ex-Adelphia customers based off of the Londonderry head which is a Scientific Atlanta installation. Nashua is a Motorola system and was converted to all digital over a year or so ago. Those on this thread know we are one of the black-sheep of Comcast, usually getting most changes and upgrades much later than other systems (although a few years back we did get a few HDs before others).

Im so sorry you guys have to deal with this....it amazes me that we can all have different channels in HD but yet everyone pays basically the same price...My buddy in Penn. has 175 HD channels and pays the same as me...hopefully they will get you all up to speed soon

Last weekend I tried upgrading from "Basic Video" to "Digital Economy" with cablecard, for an increase of about $9.99.
sports package (nfl redzone) would have been an additional $7.95.
The attempts failed, and as a bonus ended up disabling all my DTAs permanently and removing internet service for half the weekend.

Result was I drove to londonderry, cancelled all comcast video service, and turned in all 3 comcast DTAs plus the digital settop box which they sent in place of the cablecard I wanted, for a monthly savings of about $7/month, total bill now ~$44/month.

Good for you! The more people that do this the sooner the sphincters at comcast figure out that even with a near monopoly customers will only take so much.

More and more people are cutting the cord entirely w/r/t TV.

Just received an email from Comcast stating that they have increased my internet speed. And in typical Comcast fashion, they stuff the speed in fine print at the end.. here is the text of the email:

"Dear Valued Customer,

Great news! We've increased your Internet speed again!

Now the download speed on your Performance Internet Service is over 25% faster!* Enjoy zipping around your XFINITY® Internet service faster than ever, downloading TV shows and music, or even sharing photos and videos in a flash.

It's just another way XFINITY is continuing to invest in its advanced broadband network to deliver the best communications and entertainment experience available."

*New download speed will be up to 15 Mbps

Speed tests don't show much of a difference...
Just got the e-mail myself, exception being that the speed listed is 25Mbps.
Here is what I got this AM, not sure if this is burst or what..

Paul, what tier are you in?

I have no idea what tier I'm at. I just have the "triple play bundle", or some such non-sense. The bandwidth isn't explicitly identified. I'll typically get somewhere around 32Mbps down, and around 5Mbps up.
where do you get the nice clean speed test chart. I ran my test and saw nothing like that, that I can post

I found it

Oh yeah, I guess I need to post one here as well. This speed is courtesy of my rather ambiguously defined cable package, a Comcast-supplied DOCSIS 3.0 Modem, and my Netgear WNR3500L Router.

I didn't know F+ was actually a possible grade . Could be worse I suppose :|

Wow. F+ is right. Have you had Comcast check for noise on your line, or check your levels ? Seems that you should be getting more speed out of a cable modem than what you're currently getting.
I have economy-internet service, ~$40/month, so the results are expected.
Also there was some PS3 gaming happening at the same time, sharing the loooow bandwidth.
I'll probably upgrade to normal internet service some day for $59/month.

No hurry.

[ Latency is more important to me than raw bandwidth - and check out that ping turnaround time - that was via cat5/linksys-hub/docsis-2.0-modem.

...always consistent here....and I only pay for the 12MB
post #2428 of 2495
Here's the speed-test with "economy-plus internet". speed doubled for an additional $3/month :} . I suppose I might be related to the DSL turtle family.

also a few discrepancies from the announced plans for the londonderry headend for tv channels after the partial-transition in october:
seemingly the transition is not quite complete, at least with regard to abc family channel 58 which is still there. also all the basic/local channels are still being broadcast in ntsc.

New channels are now live..

This is what our new HD lineup looks like.. i haven't tried looking for any surprise channels. Tivo guide data looks good.. now i only have 1 SD channel still active on my Tivo.. BBC America..
