This issue along with the glitches on WVUE are both the same in my mind. There is a general attitude among the stations that the DT channel is an afterthought. If half a golf tournament is shown in SD because someone is asleep at the switch, so what? If the Daytona 500 is unwatchable in HD because of a technical problem, who cares? If we preempt one of your shows for some lousy local content and reair the show in the middle of the night, it doesn't need to be in HD right? No OTA HD for years, no problem. I think if the local affiliates can't get their act together, they should lose their affiliation. I know that is never going to happen, but it is just frustrating to know that the networks have a sometimes great product, and bumbling at the local level screws it up.Aside to LouisThis comment is not directed at you personally. That is why i think satellite/cable ought to be able to offer a national feed of the 4 hd networks in the same time zone as you live in, so as not to cause unfair time advantage, and the let the watcher decide. If channel 4,6, 8 ,26, or whoever is showing the program properly i will watch your station and your advertisers commercials. If i flip on whatever, and you are showing it in sd and 2.0, and the natl feed is in hd and 5.0, the local channel loses.
That is the only way there is any incentive for a local station to get its act together. You can bet if there were 2 local new orleans fox stations or cbs or whatever competing for viewers, you wouldnt have these problems. Right now what is the incentive for them to worry about it? They figure most people watch thru cable, dont have an antenna, and probably dont even know that the program should be in hd, when it is shown in sd.
Another thing, the networks shouldnt let the locals bump natl prime time programs for their local "specials", Billy graham, weather special, etc. If you want to show that, show it during your time, not from 7-10 cst.If you want to be an xyz affiliate, you will show their programs on their schedule.
Nothing against you Louis, you are trying, but most arent.
It isnt as bad on the Baton rouge stations, but not perfect either.
