Lonwolf -They have been a bit slow... I think business is booming so much that they are swamped, plus the new series two models... Besides, I am sure Marko is at high level meetings with Dr. Hsu to discuss the perfomance parameters of the new flagship model...:p

The camera is ordered... a Canon Rebel 6.3 megapixel (with a 28.75 inch tuning port to extend the Pixels to 20 hz...)

Nice shots of Vanna...My wife has informed me that if I EVEN think about posting her picture she will injure me...

Shane - I appreciate the endorsement... A little inside info... the happier we all are here, the more it will drive certain individuals nuts...

Oh... and when the camera arrives, and we figure out how to run it (sometime in July, I am sure) ... not only will pictures be posted... so will the serial numbers of each sub...

I know this will shock you (snicker) , but there have been people who claim to have listened to various(manufacturer direct sales only) subwoofers that the manufacturer in question never sent them product. I want everyone to know that we really have them here...

---smackay, let me explain to you what happened here. craigsub had been using his SVS PC+ cylinder subs for a while, placed in the corner. The new box SVS sub that he ordered (which ended up the pb2+ as a pair) was to be placed in the corner, per manufacturer recommendation. Then craigsub decided to order dual VTF-3 MKII's. Dr. Hsu's recommended placement position was new. Craigsub moved his SVS cylinder sub in that position and it sounded much better there. When the pb2+ arrived, he knew that the VTF-3 MKII's would have the sound quality edge in the manufacturer recommended positions. So he moved the pb2+ in approximately the same position as the VTF-3 MKII's, but on the other side of the couch. The rules were made up as he went.

It is most realistic for a non-pro reviewer to test both subs placed and setup as recommended by the manufacturer. This mimics the setup when each sub is set up independently of one another. This was ultimately not implemented in the listening tests, for very obvious reasons. Hsu was not going to be allowed to get a leg up in any way, even if they deserved it based on Dr. Hsu's acumen.

---craigsub, that's funny, I always thought you were on SVS's board of directors or at least now an honorary member, and I am sure you will be privy to all of their future secrets with this unbelievable promotion. On the other hand, I don't know anything about Hsu's flagships, nice try :D

The PB2+ were never going into the corner... they would not even fit in the corner where the cylinders were.

That's why numbers are marketing tools and nothing more. If you need a more detailed and final decision then go take a listen ..... its the only way to be sure of your choice. Otherwise you will just end up with the Acura if all you just want is low-distortion dynamic range capability at various frequencies (what I and others call "SPL") . For the ultimate in choice listening to what you might buy in direct comparison to competing brands is all thats important. I leave the output priority to Jethro live.
Well, we disagree. I wonder what an actual sub designer would think about the worthlessness of measurements (not just "SPL") as an indicator of a subs "sound"?

My wife seems pretty happy... I will see if she will give some impressions of it... the new Canon is supposed to be really good... I know less about cameras than Marko does about subwoofers...:D ... but she is a total photography nut...

So if you couldn't even fit them into that corner, then where were they going to go??? Probably some other corner!

And keep up the personal digs, and I can start to expand on why I think you have a real agenda here in conducting this shootout ;)

I ordered the SVS pb2-Ultra... with the idea it would go behind the couch or along one of the walls... it would have a Mercury Red finish... and hopefully a high WAF rating... it was never going into the corner, and this was long before Hsu entered the picture... The order was later changed to the pair of pb2+ ... partially for this shootout, and partially because Tom V. told me two of the pluses were superior two one ultra...

and Marko -go for it... I am sure you will scar me for life...

I think it is very obvious where it would have gone, in the back corner. But hey, you have not been completely honest in the past so I see no reason why that would change moving forward. ;) And now I think I'll wait for the Denali comments before I expand more on your behavior :)
