I know I am greedy, but I would love it if I could get that station ota as well.

Did your bar turn back to green as well?

The CW is supposed to premier in mid-September. I've heard two dates, but have already forgotten both.

I am not sure if it was up earlier. It is very strong at my location and I expect that from 15 miles away, you might be able to watch in on your toaster oven!

I got this email this morning from one of the KADN people:
"We brought it back up last night. I know that there is still much work to be done, so it may be up and down for a few more days."
Additional information received today from KADN:
"We are only at 50% power. We have more work to do and will slowly increase power over the next few days as the fine tuning continues."

When the PSIP data goes missing you soon find out which units have good tuners and which don't. Typically there are three tuners:

1. Cheapo's.... require the PSIP to parse the TS at ALL times.
2. Okay ones... require the PSIP at scanning time to log the channel. If the PSIP is missing the content can still be viewed.
3. Good ones... don't require the PSIP. They are smart enough to parse the TS and pick out the video and audio PID's themselves.

Last date I heard for the CW was September 5th.

Well I had to rescan for all my locals but it is back at 100% strength again and a green bar. IT looks like the model 622 dvr dishnetwork receiver has to have the correct psip data to lock in on a digital channel.

Will channel 6 start that day on 6.2 for the Cw network or can you start earlier while its still the Wb?

Yep I have it too. 93 signal! Nice. Thanks for response.

P.S. In an earlier post someone mentioned the fact that KATC may be moving thier tower to the same location as KFLY. Anything new in that regard? That would also be nice as I'd be able to watch that one too.
Thanks for info.

I have not been able to get any additional information. They have a construction permit with the FCC to move but I was not able to get any info on when this might happen.

We will not be putting the WB on 6.2 due to contract restrictions. Translated into American English: the WB won't let me do it.

At Midnight on Sept 18, our WB receiver will suddenly become the CW. At that time my Master Control operator will put the CW on 6.2.

Although it is tempting, I have no plans to tune in at 11:59 PM on Sept 17th to watch it happen.

OK thanks pal. Guess we'll find out later. In the mean time, if you find out anything let me know.

Thanks for the information. Now if we could just get the local Fox to be in hd or even in full power analog it would be nice.

Richard,
The picture quality is still switching during the daytime broadcast. You probably know already, but I thought I'd mention it again just in case. It happened today at 12:32:30 (during the actual show and not at a commercial barrier) and a couple of other times as well.

I have a 45db gain indoor antenna in Eunice, and was receiving KLFY @ 70% and KADN @ 100%

But much to my dismay today, KLFY still came in but at 65%, but KADN was completely offline @ 0%

I also need to add, why is KPLC denying my waivers, when I am out of service area according to the FCC website, and is KATC ever going to get their Chruch Point antenna up and running?

KADN is going through a break-in period for their new transmitter and I assume it will be up and running soon.

You should be able to get KPLC without much trouble but keep in mind that their digital broadcast is on Channel 8 which is a VHF station. Many indoor antennas are UHF only. Eunice is well within range of KPLC. You may have looked at their temporary low power license. They increased their power sometime last year.

I have a Terk tv42 dish clip-on antenna (20db gain at most), on a clear day KLFY comes in at about 85 while KADN comes in a 92-95 signal. Depends on the weather.

I too am interested in KATC Church Point info.

I have placed calls to the chief engineer at KATC but have not received any response.
Just curious... does the terk dish clip-on antenna receive VHF signals? Can you get KPLC digital?

I will check into it Thursday when I return from vacation.

I'm pretty sure I know where the problem is, just not the exact cause. (In other words, I don't really know squat!)

My little Phillips does have VHF, and if pointed precisely with the VHF gain knob turned to 100%, I can get 30% signal strength. If I could find the funds and time to install a new outdoor antenna I would, but in the meantime, this is the best I can do.

And who can I call about KATC, and their HDTV?

I see you said Cheif Engineer, but I can't seem to find any phone #'s on KATC's website.

I found phone numbers at

Don't bother with the email addresses. It seems as though they quit using them due to spam.

Like others have said..... you should be able to get KPLC-DT easily in your area.

But one thing you guys are missing. The stations don't care if you can't see their low power DT signal. They will deny you if you can receive their analog signal. Here's KATC's analog signal:

That may be true of some stations but KPLC's general manager told me that he does not deny waver requests for anyone in Lafayette Parish. Unfortunatly, 33 in Baton Rouge does.

It's a VHF/UHF antenna and yes I do watch KPLC with it. I'm getting a 70-75 signal.

Where in Eunice are you? I have very large trees, which may or may not be interrupting my reception.

I also live very close to the airport, so who knows if that has any interruption in it.

Sorry for the double post...

I did some fanagaling <_< to my indoor antenna, and was able to get 58% signal on KPLC, which somehow comes in clear :O

KLFY decreased slightly to where the signal drops out, and KADN can go from 100% to 0% within seconds, but I assume that has to do with their testing.

And 24-1, -3, and -5 come in great at around 90-100% signal, although I'm not one to watch PBS regularly.

Unfortunatly, it looks like I won't be catching Italy vs. France this Sunday without KATC

I live near Eunice high school.
Large trees will definately play a part in reception.

As soon as good news appears, it disappears.

I was able to get about 60% on KPLC, but the sun went down, along with the signal strength.

I always thought that when the sun goes down, the signal goes up...at least it worked that way with radio.

I'd have to say you have something wrong with your rig. I am able to pick up KPLC with an cheapo RCA rabbit ear antenna sitting on top of the TV in Lake Charles. You are well within the reception. Just remember....they are on VHF-8. You might not get them well with UHF antennas and UHF only amps.

I can't see the point for getting a waiver in Lafayette. You've got the best of both worlds there. So many HD channels in Lafayette. You've got all the BR market's ABC, NBC, and FOX there in HD along with a digital SD feed of the WB on Fox's 720p carrier. Plus you've got Lafayette's HD locals, NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc.
I am well aware that they are on VHF-8

I use my DirecTV H20 to scan for channels, because my TV's digital tuner just allows to see what I pick up, rather than scan and test signal strength.

I don't see what I could possibly be doing wrong, since my antenna has both rabbit ears and a UHF disc antenna thing.

I even double checked to see if I'm crazy...and right there on the box it says VHF/UHF HD antenna
