Huh?

My Indoor antenna is the best I can do on my budget, so I'm definetly not part of the problem...whatever that even means.

Yeah he kinda lost me on that too
BTW, what type of antenna do you have diat?

and what channels do you pick up?
I have two cm4228's... one pointed to lafayette and one pointed to baton rouge. I get these hd feeds:

fox 15
abc 3
nbc 33 baton rouge
cbs 10
pbs 24
fox 44 baton rouge

all I meant was that the signal is out there if you want it. cut back on mcdonalds once a week for 2 months and you have a new cm 4228.

KALB now coming in! They must have powered something up!

LOL you seem to assume lack of $$$ is the problem. I just dont care to have that size antenna near my house.(Along with 3 satellite dishes!)
I assumed because budget was brought up. like I said, the signal is there... dont complain about channel 3 because you cant catch it with a set of rabbit ears. surely if you have 3 dishes in your yard then 1 small 1.5x1.5x.5 antenna wont make a big difference in the eyesore category...
can someone give a rundown of the lake charles hd channels? and can anyone catch the nbc and fox from there?

KALB is now broadcasting at full power. I picked up channel 5.1 and 5.2 today at 8 p.m. They broadcast on UHF 35.

Maybe KATC can't reach Eunice, because it isn't supposed to.

if you put a cm4228 up at your house pointing towards lafayette you will catch katc.

Hey Everybody. I just got back from a 10 day vacation to Denver.
Nice to be back.

Lets start from the top.
Who ever it was that said my area, (Beaumont, TX.) did not experience hurricane force winds needs to have their head examined. I won't even comment on that anymore, it's not worth my time.

Next up is channel 12. Yes I know the chief engineer there and will try to get an update for everybody soon. I was kind of hoping they would magically be in HD when I returned from my trip. I guess nothing ever happens ahead of schedule.

Oh, and yes Denver has all of the 5 major networks in HD on Comcast cable.
Our local Time Warner has the negotiating power of a turnip.

Two things.

First, if this cm4228 is so good...who manufactures it? cm4228 is just a model number.

And second, the map shows Opelousas is within the antenna's range, where Eunice is not, so you can't be so sure that I can catch KATC that easily.
channelmaster. obviously the station doesnt transmit a perfect circle around lafayette. those maps are a rough estimate.

My comment is if you bought an HDTV, then surely you have the budget somewhere to cut back on something to afford a $60 antenna. I run a tight budget and even already had the ability to watch ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, and WB all in HD via basic cable. But guess what...there's also a CM4228 sticking above my roof.

An update would be nice. As long as the HD broadcast is up and running by the time the new season starts, I'll be happy. Although it would be nice to catch a couple of Lost reruns in HD before then.

I have completely written off TW as a possible source of local HD. KBTV will broadcast in HD before we see our locals in HD on TW (in other words, not in this decade).

Yeah try telling that to my wife.

NBC and PBS are working HD. CBS from Lafayette is also available with a decent outdoor rig. KVHP-FOX is available digital on a low power signal but it is NOT HD.

Are those networks all available on Lafayette Cox via QAM?

How are you picking up the WB in HD via basic cable? I have a Sony DVR which allows me to pick up the unscrambled HD via basic cable, but my cable company does not have CBS or WB in HD. Who is your cable company? What town do you live in? Thanking you in advance...

OK. I just got off the phone with the Engineer at Channel 12
Here is how things stand.
They are running a bit late because of the weather but the building at the tower should be completly finished in a few days. They will then be able to broadcast at full power in two weeks on digital 50.1 and reach near Lake Charles in distance.

That is the good news. The bad part is that Nextel has not given them a signed contract yet which is holding up the HD portion. They have all the equipment already delivered but the (STL). The STL is a Station to Transmitter Link and will allow them to transmit SD and HD on the same microwave channel. As soon as Nextel gives him the go ahead he can order this last $90,000 part and we will see ABC in HD. It will take 4 weeks from when he orders it in to receive it. He said he would email me as soon as the part is ordered and I will let everyone know as that is the last piece of the puzzle.

He did tell me that they are ready to do the News in HD and this includes the morning show. Also their web page is set to go live in one month or less.

So it looks like it could be August or Sept before we see HD on ABC now.
Leon.

Thanks for the info. I played with my antennas this morning and was also able to get KALB. My signal meter showed it to be slightly less that 33 in BR but it was coming in pretty good. I wish my satellite box would allow the setting of more than two cities for directory information. I set Lafayette as my first choice and Baton Rouge as second so I can't get directory information from Alexandria (or Lake Charles). Anyway, I will continue to monitor 33.1 and 5.1 to see which offers NBC with the most reliable reception.

LOL sounds like my Tivo unit. And I agree. More areas would be nice. Lafayette= primary. Lake Charles= secondary.

KALB is far more powerful than I could have ever imagined. In Lafayette, I'm getting excellent reception on my indoor antenna, whereas I cannot even get a read on WVLA.

yeah I have to give props to whoever set that station up... the signal is booming. I cant complain about wvla... I still get a 65 signal with both of my antennas pointed away from baton rouge.
