CBS carried only one game. The doubleheader (and Texans game) was on Fox.

KUIL-LD on RF 43 has been granted a CP mod for a different antenna, antenna height, and transmitter output/ERP. Coverage area is the same.

Okay I'll bite. What will this mean for KUIL if they have a different antenna at RF 43?

All it probably means is that they saved money by getting this antenna instead of the other one on their old CP. Then they adjusted their antenna height and transmitter output so that the coverage area would be the same so there would be no issues with the FCC.

May be old news to some, but I just found it.
Seems London Broadcasting has purchased KUIL and will operate it for 10 years.
So now Channel 12 will run 3 TV stations.

London didnt buy KUIL..they are merely managing it...called a LMA

that was some nice tropo we had here in the south central and east part of the united states this weekend. too bad I was not home most of this weekend to check out what distant channels was coming in at my house. please post what you guys or gals got. check out what these guys got.

Wish I cound put my antenna up 45ft.

Home sick today and i noticed that TWC added 28 new HD channels starting at ch 1105. How long has this been on there? We also have a PPV HD channel. Its about time we get these channels! woo hoo

Has anyone heard anything lately about when KFDM will get their antenna fixed to broadcast toward East. People in Vinton, Sulphur, DeQuincy, Westlake and west Lake Charles have not been able to get CBS off antenna, since the Big Switch. Highway 171 seems to be about the limit for 10.1 and need to be further North to get 5.2.

Yes. The tropo this past weekend was pretty bad. I have an omni about 80 feet up, and I was picking up a Fox out of Natchez, a PBS out of Greenwood, Miss, and a station out of Galveston. I could not pick up KLFY, KLTL, or KFDM on Friday night and a little bit of Saturday morning.

I haven't heard anything about KFDM. Since the big switch, we have been picking them up in Nome, TX and transporting their signal back to Sulphur for distribution on our cable systems.

I talked to the engineer with KLFY a few weeks back. He said that there is a channel 8 around New Orleans that is in the process of moving back to UHF (I think channel 29) and that once they turn off their channel 8 transmitter (they are simulcasting) KLFY and channel 9 in Baton Rouge (WAFB... I think) should be able to increase their power levels. He said that KLFY should almost triple their power from 20kW to 60kW. He was hoping that this would happen before the end of the year.

Info on WVUE simulcasting on RF8 and RF29... I don't see them vacating RF8 this year.

With the KLTL issue, KFDM has to null toward Lake Charles area...and I doubt that will get fixed any time soon.

After reading that petition I have a question. Why does the FCC appease some people and not others. The whole petition was based on the fact that they had better coverage until they complete construction on the power upgrade for RF29. If that is okay to the FCC, then WHY is it also okay for OUR area to be squeezed out of receiving an entire national network? Why do they not FORCE KLTL to use a mask filter?!?! Why do they not REQUIRE that KLFY ACTUALLY cover the area they say that they do?!?!? This is complete BS. It looks like they are making this up as they go and that they really have no concern whatsoever for certain areas.

What? WVUE requested to move back to channel 29. Voluntarily.

Anyone have any issues with the audio not working on KPLC this morning?

Using Drake equipment, we downconvert the primary feed to 4:3 for distribution to our cable systems. I had to factory reset and reprogram the card to get audio back working. I was wondering if anyone had to re-scan their digital converter box to get audio working again. I am not sure if they made a change or reset some of their equipment last night or early this morning.

We get approx 15 off-air channels from Lafayette, Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Houston and KPLC is the only channel we have problems with... Still seeing some lip sync issues also.

My HD feed was fine because it runs on a encoder, which is basically a Linux server, so it can more easily adapt to any changes in the feed.

And the whole reason you see anything about WVUE moving back to channel 29 is all due to WAFB on RF 9. It seems WAFB and KLFY could come to an interference agreement, but WAFB would not budge with WVUE. So WVUE's only choice was to go back to channel 29. Otherwise WVUE would have increased power on RF 8 and been done with it, but WAFB threw a fit. Which in turn screwed themselves since they were stuck at a lower power on RF 9 themselves. I guess WAFB will now be able to increase power, but I'm not holding my breath for them to do it. The same interference issues apply with the Lake Chuck PBS and Beaumont CBS.

I don't claim to know all the issues, but it seems like between your two stations they should have figured out something a little a better to do than what they have now.

ALL DTV stations use a mask filter. Its a requirement.

The situation with KLTL is that there are certain parties trying to obtain a used digital channel 18 mask filter for them at a reduced price or donation so they can move from channel 20 back to their old analog channel 18 with minimal cost. This would allow KFDM-DT Beaumont on Channel 21 to raise their power and go non-directional giving CBS HD network service almost to Lafayette since they would no longer need to protect KLTL on an adjacent channel. I hope it happens soon.

The displacement application for KTDJ-LD channel 26 was granted on 11-03-09 and they have a CP for an ERP of .2 KW from a height of 158.5 MAG.

The displacement app for K50LH-LD was granted on 10-29-09 and they have a CP for 15 KW from a height of 110 MAG on channel 50.

Sorry, I should have said Ch 18 mask filter. I get a little ahead of myself living in the 21st century and having to put up with this crap.

IMHO, this all should have been worked out during the 3 rounds of post transition channel selection years ago. but, alas, this is what we have, and I too hope it happens soon.

The 28 HD channels on TWC were added on the 3rd, I think it was.
