Thanks. I'm a bit surprised about the "HD" in the PSIP. Is it actually an HD station? Or maybe at the time it came in there was network HD programming?

Yeah Friday night that same ch 14 came in as XHOR-14 in Matamoros. 442 miles. It was a very good tropo night on the gulf coast.

Holdover from when 36 digital and 64 analog was FOX.....ANY digital station is HD capable....if they have the correct equipment...but they cannot generate local HD programming; only any network programing passed on.

Analog 2 from Matamoros was also coming in...107.1, the LPFM in Port Arthur was covered up by a stereo Spanish station...not sure where it was from..and I heard what sounded like a network audio feed on 87.70 (no stereo and it was in Spanish so likely an analog 6 in Mexico)..FOX 8 (RF??) out of NO was in last night!

Yep Fox 8.1 RF 8 Not sure where you're from, but probably a nice catch.

BPT area....thought I would have gotten KUHT instead, but the antenna was pointed ENE for Lake Charles.....Some channels got Houston, others got La...
Best catch so far digital was a MS station...best analog was 4 out of Washington DC!!! Had a 2 analog during nightlight but not sure where it was from...

I believe WVUE is still transmitting on RF 8 and RF 29. They both map as 8.x.

2nd night in a row that I have been getting audio from KCOL 92.5 over analog channel 25...

Talk about weird.

Tropo plays hell with FM band harmonics sometimes.

Daytime.....antenna was only 20ft high....when the band is open, almost anything will do.....

Given the UHF band was better, likely was 29 I was seeing...didnt think of checking it on the 722 local list

I did a rescan monday night as well and was able to pickup all of New Orleans stations very clear, but still not KLFY?.. It was good to watch all the saints coverage.. It'd be nice to have this kind of reception every night! Are you listening mother nature..

I'd been putting this off for months, but super bowl on cbs coming up, so 2 weeks ago i got in a new high gain yagi VHF antenna i hooked up along with my current db8 antenna and used the cm 7777 combiner and amp.. Now i still can't get klfy, but i get alexandria's cbs at about 70-80% and everything else at or near 100% Only katc comes in under 50 at times..

Probably because the Alexandria station has both a NBC and a CBS, so they basically have half the bandwidth (19.x Mbps) to give each channel. KLFY has just one channel, so they can encode CBS at a much higher rate.

Of course with statmuxxing, they can manage their bandwidth between the 2 channels more efficiently. I am not sure if they are doing this are not, but even if they are it still will only help so much.

Oh wow, that is fantastic! Without looking at anything, I am going to guess either channel 18 for themselves, or channel 50.

I have been looking for something from them ever since they filed for the STA extension. It was only for 6 months, and they stated in the app for the STA that they needed the extra time to "assess the situation". This is toally cool, and I wish them all the luck in getting it granted and up and running.

I can't wait to see what channel they applied for.

Don't guess it will be on in time for the Super Bowl, huh??? LOL

first question that comes to mind, is why 25 and not 18? I seems like on 18 the ERP could go even higher, and possibly up to 1,000 KW?

But not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I hope it is granted soon, I know the residents of LC and Sulphur will be delighted once it is on, as well I guess those that live to the north.

That would be a dream come true, eh? KFDM at 1000kw on a top mount omni! But I'm sure the Sulphur folks would take the 350k on the omni just as well.

KLFY is still working for most Lake Charles folks.

Channel 18 would have problems with the land-mobile stuff in Houston.

Ah, OK. That is why 18 would have worked for KLTL but not KFDM. Gotcha.

A null toward Houston on 18 with 1MW ERP would have worked....not much on the LMR channels there anymore.
