OK I guess I'm not stating my question clearly. Let me try it this way, when will KATC or KLFY have HD equipment to broadcast their their newscasts in HD? And if I've misunderstood replies, my appologies.

Yep..whenever they budget for it and spend the money on the gear...
probably in 2011 they will.....Like I said, they spent a LOT of money on the new tower out at Rayne.....3-5mill at least just on the towers...then the new RF gear, feedlines and antennas....all that had to come first....and then they have to recover their investment....all it takes is cash

Not sure if the "SD" is still the HD being chopped (as it WAS) or an actual SD 4x3 feed (but with HD, WHO cares??)

Again, tonight, 12.3 was carrying a Southland Conference football game and it was in HD but squeezed down to 4x3! Making the TV stretch the picture made it 16x9 and it was perfect...no idea WHY 43 (12.3) shows it in 4x3 (and 12's engineers dont know either! )

Trip is right about this being a malfunction coming from an LP station. I noticed the additional 3-2, 3-3, and 3-4 after KAJN-LP came on. I was able to figure out the origins of those back to Channel 40 when I deleted 40, those 3 blank subchannels also went away.

It sounds like KATC may be fixing to do something similar to what KBMT is doing here.

They have re-mapped LD stations KUIL and K36ID to 12.3 (main HD channel) and 12.4 sub channel). So, depending on which ones you can receive (both ion my case) you can have 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, and 12.4 coming from at least 2 different stations or even possibly 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.3, 12.4, and 12.4.(KUIL and K36ID carry the same simulcast programming).

KATC may be doing the same thing by mapping the LD station to show a 3.X channel number bringing all the programming under one umbrella so to speak.

But bewarned, this will cause problems for some TVs...

The more likely answer is that the encoder got reset at KAJN-LD and the default value is 3-x. This has happened in numerous markets across the country.

KATC has no co-owned or LMA'd stations in Lafayette...

KBMT-DT (London Broadcasting) and KUIL/K36ID (BlueBonnet Broadcasting) aren't co-owned either... KBMT programs and operates the two LD stations through an LMA.

You sure about that callsign??? It doesnt show in the FCC's database.
update: I found it doing a 34 search in MS...but the search using the callsign doesnt show it...and it licensed to Magee instead of Jackson (A rimshot placed between Jackson and Meridian) Not bad on the data...almost a 1 MW at 374m HAAT....and how did they get such a tall tower in a National Forest??)

It must have been the FONT I copied and pasted from OTAHead's post...I just ran the Query again and typed the call in myself and it found it!! Go figure...

Not too bad, catching WLOX out of Gulfport MS loud and clear tonight (as well as most of the NO channels) with my little ant in the attic. I'm impressed with it.

Just took advantage of the Dish Network DVR free upgrade promotion.
Went from a 622 to a 722k with the over the air module.
Now for the first time on a Monday night, I will be able to record two programs over the air, and one on satellite, while still being able to watch Monday Night Football with no conflicts.

Some info for those thinking about upgrading. The 722k does not come with the OTA module already installed. You have to ask the installer to put it in. They did it for free for both my brother and myself today.
The only difference I have noticed is that the remote is a bit slower when scrolling through the menu. The 622 was lightning fast and this one sometimes will miss a key punch or two.
However the remote will store all of your timers for the 722k so if you ever need another box you can just automatically add all of your timers back.
Very cool.

Probably more tonight...the FM band is open to the east right now with stations in La covering up Houston co-channels!!! So I suspect the TV band will be open to the east very well tonight...and probably tomorrow too...until the next front pushes through/

Fixed my slow menu problems on my 722k satellite receiver.
All I had to do was change my IR remote address from 2 to 1.
Now it is as quick and responsive as before.

Channel 12 is breaking up like crazy for me tonight OTA.
Makes me wonder if it is the tuner in my new 722 receiver.
It was always rock solid on my 622.
It is also showing channels 4 and 6 at less signal strength than normal as well.
Strange.

Must be something with my antenna. My dad next door still has great signal strength.
I will have to work on it tomorrow.
