Had to record Fringe off KVHP since KBTV is off the air tonight. The storm must have got them.

Driving home from Bush Airport this afternoon on highway 90, I saw the Devers tower get hit by lightning for a full 2 seconds. Pretty spectacular. I wonder if it knocked them off, as well.

That must have been something to see! Wow.

I just checked, and KBTV is back on this morning...

Actually Fringe wasn't on last Friday on KBTV. They had Lamar Baseball showing in the guide instead . I had to use Houston KRIV channel 26 from DISH, so I moved my timer to that station from now on. I hate sports that conflict with my regular shows .

You've got to be kidding me! Things like that are why I despise KBTV and refuse to watch it! I watch KVHP exclusively. There was onetime, at the end of Fringe, just at the ending climax, KBTV cut in early for the news! Unbelievable. Since that time, I have refused to watch them. Besides, I never did care for them for dumping NBC.

And I know what you mean about displacing regular programming for sports. That happened all college basketball season on Wednesday nights on KUIL. They put basketball on every week in place of Burn Notice. AAAaaarrrggghhhh!

Who actually watches local sports on network tv anyway? I would think that they would move the show to a later time the same day, if they want to pre-empt shows for sports and advertise the later time showing for people to either watch or record. Kind of like Cbs does pratically every Sunday due to sports over-runs.

Someone just told me today that HD locals for DirecTV in Lafayette are expected this summer. Can anyone confirm that?

My daughter's boyfriend for one, who was livid last fall when KBTV displaced boxing with a Lamar football game. Still sports, but not the right event. I am going to eventually get him an antenna. He was talking to my daughter the other day while I was watching Jeopardy at 6:30. He could hear it ovr the phone, and wanted to know what cable channel he could find it on... I had to tell him he couldn't. I was watching, of course, KVHP. I love OTA.

I'm 70 and can't sleep through a thunderstorm anyway.
Besides I only live 5 miles from the tower.

When I was working for Liberman in Houston years ago, saw three of the Mo City towers get struck in a row during a storm while driving on Beltway 8just north of the farm...one seemed to glow for a few seconds....spectacular indeed!

Okay Guys. I got an email from DISH about the guide data for Metv and Mytx channels . AFter telling me for over a month it was a station problem , they now say the guide data for these two stations has been up on the satellite for over a month. And if I'm not seeing it it must be a receiver tech problem. Granted I just replaced my 722k last Friday and it still doesn't see the station guide data . So I'm asking everyone out there:

Do you see ota guide data for 12.3 Mytx and 12.4 Metv on your DISH satellite receivers? If so please report it and what kind of receiver you are using.
I am not seeing it on my VIP722.

Thanks for the response. I wrote an email to Kip again at Echostar telling him that NO one in our area has seen it in our area on any DISH receiver and they need to look in to what is causing it.

Kip, Responded to me this morning. He said that having two sets of broadcast towers for these channels could be what is causing the problems, like I suggested to him. They broadcast on both 36.1 and 43.1. He said he would get to the bottom of this asap. He doesn't deal with these issues any more in his capacity ,since he has been promoted. But he said he would get on it quickly. I hope to post good news soon.

In my opinion, KBMT messed up big time by changing the virtual channel on all 3 stations to 12.x. I wish they would have left the LDs as 36.x and 43.x individually. It would have saved confusion on a variety of levels from tuners that won't tune to multiple 12s to the guide info problem you are experiencing now... 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.3, 12.4, 12.4... If they ever add a second sub, we can add some 12.5s to the mix as well! It's enough to make you pull your hair out!

I just got home a few minutes ago, and I am finding no OTA guide data for 12.3 or 12.4...
Well Kip got with me again by email and said that DISH has made a decision to NOT carry ota channels only for guide data. THey consider both Metv and Mytx as not being part of the same class of subs channels under Kbmt 12.1 and 12.2 Kjac, which are up on the satellite. I argued with him about why other areas in the country are reporting that they are getting Metv ota guide data for their areas , and they are not being broadcast on DISH either, but he hasn't responded yet. I just got home after work and it is almost 10:00pm. I doubt we will ever see guide data on these two channels if this is DISH's final word on it.

I replaced my VIP722 a few weeks ago. When I added in the locals. My guide data didn't update until the overnight update. The next day I was seeing the guide data for for 12.3 and 12.4 but it was erroneously displayed on 12.1 and 12.2. After I re-added 12.1 and 12.2, the guide data went back to normal and still nothing for 12.3 or 12.4.

Go figure.

Kip has emailed me today to tell me that he is still trying to work with DISH to get to the bottom of the problem with guide data for Mytx and Metv. I hope to hear soon what he can find out.

I think that the reason why the guide data is showing wrong is that we have two stations broadcast on both digital 36.1 and 43.1. The actual guide data for mytx and metv has been up on the satellite for a month ,according to the engineer that Jeffrey at Echostar, talked to. But having both channels out there has caused confusion for the guide data.

I know if I add channel 36 in stead of 43 to get Mytx and Metv, I end up with Kbmt and Kjac showing black screen with no signal. I have to delete all of the 4 channels and re add them including channel 43 or I get no channels on 12.1 and 12.2.

I can confirm this evening that there is no OTA guide data for 12.3 or 12.4 on my Vizio HDTV, Haier HDTV, or Channel Master DVR. Obviously no guide data is being provided by KBMT...
Looks like I have no guide data either on my Toshiba hd tv either. Looks like Kbmt is doing a fabulous job in providing NO one with guide data now.

Last night, 12.1 on DISH was showing 12.3's EPG data....Nothing OTA as you noted.

On another side note, 27.2 has been showing a lot of John Wayne movies..and I think most of them are theater widescreen or 16x9..watching them in 4x3 seems crunched...so I stretch it out and it looks much better..Today, during the middle of the "Train Robbers", the audio switched to a French track!! Seeing John Wayne and Ann Margaret speak French??...oh well, it was a good movie while it lasted.
