KFDM/KBTV, a CBS/FOX duopoly, is currently seeking a Director of Engineering.
The qualified candidate will coordinate or maintenance computer and broadcast equipment of television broadcasting stations by performing the following duties:
Lead the efforts of our multi-station technical operation
Be responsible for managing the day-to-day technical activities of the stations (including FCC compliance, design, installation, and maintenance of on-air broadcast and news equipment)
Be responsible for departmental administrative functions, including scheduling and employee reviews.
Prepare and execute both expense and capital budgets
Plan, manage, train, and coordinate subordinate technician's activities.
Assist and advise in planning of future equipment installations, requirements, and budgetary recommendations.
Maintain computer software, hardware, and local area network applications on systems throughout the station.
Establish the procedures to insure that all IT equipment is operational and secure.
Keep software versions up to date. Insures software license compliance. Follows all corporate directives for IT security.
Perform preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting on almost any electronic device or support electronics whether in-house or installed a transmitter; including but not limited to: cameras, video equipment and/or audio switching equipment, processing and monitoring equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, satellite receivers, and computing equipment.
Supervise and/or perform transmitter maintenance of all transmitters and low power sites.
Respond to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment (sometimes after regular hours).
Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical leadership role in television.
21st century skill set, a great team-oriented attitude and a dedication to quality.
Extensive knowledge and experience with HDTV, MPEG2, MPEG4, automation systems, and High Power UHF DTV transmitters.
A strong IT background.
A Bachelor's Degree and SBE certification are strongly preferred.
