I'm not getting anything from anybody...I have a ts160 and had no problem last night with the oscars...No signal on the meter from anyone..If anybody can verify that they are getting a signal, I would sure appreciate it...Thanks
post #152 of 3862
All is well, just west of Sumner..signals SLIGHTLY lower than normal, but still nominal.
I watched CSI: Miami last night @ 9 on KGAN...didn't check the signal strength but it looked good to me...no breakups or hiccups

All three for me last night pretty much normal sig strength

We've pretty much given up on New York supplying us with an HD feed of the show.
My Master Control Operator has now gotten in the habit of actually calling NBC Master Control just before we switch to the feed, to verify HD or SD, despite the fact it is logged as an HD feed.
Again this week, no HD!
:(

To be on topic, it was great to see this show in HD last night on KCRG, I wish they'd(The show's makers) had done more with the sound mix though. Not really on topic, while it was great to see an adaptation of Riget alot of the creepy feel(which could have been so enhanced in 5.1) was really lost in translation for american audiences(dumbing down).

Does anyone have mediacom HD? If so what box do they use? I'd like to figure out if my Sammy would work with their service.
I have Mediacom HD, they use a Moto 5100 box. I also have a LG 3100a with QAM, but have not been able to get anything on it out of cable, except for the digital music channels. I see Mediacom added ESPN HD, Bravo HD, and 2 HDNet's, all for the low price of an additional $$$ 9.95 per month , providing you already have the Moto box, which costs you $ 11 more. I'll be going with Voom real soon. $9.50 box rental, $39 HD programing. If you buy the box at Sears, $399 plus free programing til June 1.

There's HDNet and HDNet Movies. The Movie channel isn't that great, they show a lot of movies you wouldn't want to watch, even in high-def. They have been showing Shawshank lately though, and they occasionally have a good movie here and there, but overall it's nothing to get excited about.

Just a guess Jeff, but they blew a switcherduring installation and have to manually throw the HD switch at the transmitter site (that was my understanding anyways).

Earlier posts said the new switcher was due in about the third week of Feb.
Obviously, it has eithre not been installed yet, or was screwed up again during installation. Otherwise, I think we would be seeing some local commercials, etc.. during HD primetime, which we haven't although one night I actually heard local commercials audio, etc.. while still seeing the national HD feed.

In a nutshell, my guess is that the engineers have put a lot of work in on HD and are tired of 7 day weeks, thus no HD on weekends. Shame though, I've been wanting to see Cold Case...

The fcc never did reply to my complaint about KGAN being off the air for two weeks.

I am currently getting OTA and HBO HD through MediaComm. I ordered HDNet, ESPNHD, Bravo, Etc. from them and wasn't getting it in. I called and they said they are having problems on their end. Big suprise.

I think I should go to Voom but wish they had ESPN. The Hawks should be fun to watch Friday - hopefully Friday - Sunday!

Just to confirm... By OTA, you mean Mediacom is now providing KGAN, KCRG, KWWL, etc., local DT????

Is this Cedar Rapids Mediacom?? Other than the box rental, are they charging for the locals???

Just curious.. Fellow co-worker is waiting for Mediacom for HD.

FWIW -

While I'm not a Mediacom Cable subscriber (I have D* with the HD package), I'm fairly certain that Mediacom is not yet offering local HD channels in Eastern Iowa (Cedar Rapids-Waterloo-Dubuque-Iowa City). They have yet to complete negotiations for the rights to carry the digital signals of all the stations here.

When they do add local HD channels, there shouldn't be an additional charge to subscribers for the local HD signals... only for the HD box rental and a subscribtion to the HD Tier of cable channels (HDNet, Bravo etc) if you choose to subscribe to it.

I've heard the HD channels will be in the 800 block (IE: 802-KGAN-DT, 807-KWWL-DT, 809-KCRG-DT...)

So for the moment, the only way to get ABC, NBC, CBS High Def. content is over-the-air (for free :).

DLPDA is correct- Mediacom does not have locals in HD.

If you live in Cedar Falls - don't forget CFU (shameless plug).

The Moto box is not required to get HD OTA (CBS/NBC/ABC) programming if you have a QAM tuner in your TV. These programs - just like DMX, are not encrypted so they can be received by anyone with a QAM tuner...

I actually have a different motive for this message though. Given the option between HDNet/HDNet Movies, InDemand1&2, DiscoveryHD, and ESPN-HD - which 3 would you chose? We are looking at our next tier of HD programming and the largest argument is if we should include HDNet at all. IN has IMAX movies plus sports programming (NHL/NBA/MLB). Which one would you rather see on your cable network? IN1&2 or HDNet/HDNet Movies?

Anyone with a Mediacom HD box should check out channels 830, 840, 850, and 851. They are testing the new HD additions to their lineup, all are free for now. Just watched the Hawks lose to Michigan on ESPN HD, at least the picture looked good. Go Hawks! ( NIT bound). Hey Joe, I would vote for ESPN and Discovery. I will take a look at HDNet to see what they offer, as long as it is free for now.

NIT bound for the 3rd straight year!! Finally get to see the Hawks in HD (live) and they blow it. Mighta had a shot at another BTT run and NCAA bid... but oh well.............

Hopefully KGAN has it together and gives us the HD feed coming from the NCAA first round Kansas City site on Friday and Sunday!
Can anybody tell me if KGAN is broadcasting the SEC game in HD? TitanTV says it's supposed to be, but it doesn't look like it to me.
Joe, go with the InHD channels, not HDNet. I'm a bit biased, since I already get HDNet via Dish, and InHD would give me more channels, HDNet would not. :) HDNet isn't that great, honestly, so I'd love to give InHD a try.

Sorry my previous post wasn't clear - no i don't get KGAN, KCRG and KWWL HD signals from MediaCom. I get those with an antenna. It is my understanding they will be offering those soon.

WOW!!! Las Vegas in HD tonight!!!!

Maybe NBC is back on track and HUGE THANKS to KWWL for listening to our input and not screwing us out of HD for weather crawls!!!!
Hey Joe-

Do you have any time frame for the HD package availablity? I guess I don't know enough about the programming on INHD to have an opinion on the matter.
Also, why do I get two versions of KGAN-DT on the cable box? 402 and one other one.

Jared

Is it just my STB, or are KWWL-DT and KCRG-DT not in widescreen tonight??
