Any idea what kind of specs I should be looking at when shopping for antennas? I'll check out the zenith as well. Thanks again!!
Yup, you should be about 4 or 5 mi. closer. I get WB [channels 20.1 & 20.2] fine. Get occasional dropouts on any channel in heavy rain, or extreme fog. Possibly, placing my little indoor antenna outdoors might solve this problem.
You are very close to the towers, so stay away from any 'amplified' antennas. Don't know what digital tuner you will be using, so it's hard to make more specific recommendations. Newer, 4th generation tuners are pretty good at rejecting multipath signals [interference caused by reflections from the Bay, buildings, hills, etc] so even non-directional [e.g., a cheap bow-tie] pull in a usable signal. Older tuners, like the early Samsung's, are less discriminating, so using a directional antenna, like the Silver Sensor, can help.
Just remember, despite the advertising hype, there is no such thing as a 'High Definition antenna'. So ignore the helpful sales staff at Rat Shack [or wherever] and just buy their cheapest indoor UHF antenna. There won't be a big selection. Or, just get the Silver Sensor.
