On RCN Queens, FoxHD used to be 130-3 which is now dead. I've rescanned numerous times but no luck. I tried 109.2 as suggested by muevelonyc but thats dead too. Anyone out there with RCN queens who knows where FoxHD is? Did you ever find it ht1948?

Fox HD was spotty lately. Don't worry, I think it'll come back. I miss ESPN so much :-(

FoxHD is temporarily out but probably will come back. 94.1 has it on digital (non-HD)

Yes I've noticed horrible condition on RCN-NY's Sci-Fi AND its still going on... I just usually end up recording it thru a analog [ch.66] tuner to a DVR-or-DVD...
I've also noticed that the cablebox ch.66 [as well as the a Qam tuners 116.10]differs from the analog ch66. ::: Different advertising and splash screen, The analog ch.66 has messages from sci-fi at the bottom basically saying ''Sci-fi is available in HD-contact your cable provider'' the Qam/cable box Sci-Fi has no such messages usually different advertising ... Maybe the bad condition of cablebox/Qam tuned Sci-fi is some after effect of shoving a HD signal down to a SD channel?

On a side note... Thanks RCN for putting food network and Animal planet in HD and not Sci-fi and other more deserving programing... arseholes

I have Silicon Dust HDHomerun tuner and it doesn't always pickup everything in the channel scan. It took me forever to find YESHD at 101-1. This is a partial listing of what I have, its only the channels I have mapped into Vista MCE not all the available channels. If anyone wants me to post the full list of what I'm getting in Queens let me know.

mjbaird, as I stated in my post FoodHD and AnimalPlanetHD looks like were temporarily unencrypted but are not encrypted and thus unavailable without cablecard or a box.

RCN's Basic Cable Customers Get A Deal

So RCN will finally be reclaiming the analog spectrum in NYC. Supposedly, customers will start getting notifications in September with the analog shutoff scheduled for October 1.

I hope that means new HD channels.

ESPNU Goes HD

The article is about ESPN U HD and their launch on August 28. But is does mention that RCN has signed on to carry the channel.

I wouldn't expect this one until after the October Analog Crush - but maybe we'll be suprised.

Has anyone recently rescanned all the QAM channels? Any changes?

Actually, I've been seeing some changes for the worse...

I've noticed in the last week that more of the standard definition "Expanded Basic" channels are no longer Clear QAM. I haven't done a full search, but I know SciFi, Spike, FX, and ESPN Classic are now coming up encrypted. Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah looks like they dropped a ton of channels and encrypted them. SciFi one is really going to piss me off. At least I got to see BSG reach earth.

Did anyone notice that they have encrypted SNY? :-(

yeah that and MTV Jams, and a ton of other channels. Looks like they're totally shafting us now.

They're starting to move channels around. Well, at least the PPV (200 to 900) and Music Choice (300 to 800) ones, anyway.

Is there a reason why CNN is not broadcast in HD on RCN?

Does anyone with a Synergy V remote control for their HD boxes & DVR's also own a new Pioneer plasma? There are three codes in the brochure that comes with the remote and it was printed in 2005 as is totally outdated and they do not work. If you are a Pioneer owner, please give me the three digit code for this remote.

all the new analog crush channels are now available!!...I live on 23rd street on the East Side of Manhattan (I think we are the first neighborhood to get analog crush in NY)...turned on my TV this morning and noticed all the new HD channels along with all my older channels in different spots...checked every channel and they all seem to be working excpet for CNBC HD which seems to be missing...also I'm not receiving any of the HD Premium tier channels (Smithsonian HD, HDNet, MGM HD etc)...do I have to now pay extra for those 5 HD channels?...I'm getting all the other channels just fine (although some channels such as USA HD, Sci-Fi HD etc are not available yet and are 'Coming Soon' according to the phamplet I received)

if I have to pay extra I might just forgo those channels as they are not channels I watch very often anyway...great job RCN!...their HD lineup now compares very favorably to the other major cable providers in my area

I think it will take 3-4 months for them to complete all of NYC...they are going neighborhood by neighborhood so hopefully your area is coming up soon

Gotta love the priority RCN gave to putting up all these new HD channels... and the 'coming soon' ones are the ones that should have been on first.... I just dont need any of the news channels in HD while we have to wait for good stuff like Sci-Fi HD ... even Food HD should have been a secondary HD channel... food still looks tasty enough in SD....

Actually I will be looking forward to viewing CNN in HD. When you consider the amount of time people spend watching the news, this is a must have!!!

I have seen Workers taging 96th street west. I have seen this before on 96th but nothing came, anyone know something?

I'm glad they added CNBC and ABC Family, as well as the supplemental movie channels (HBO 2, etc.). Hopefully, USA and Sci-Fi will be up soon.

Thanks for the lineup link and other info. Wonder how RCN's Hd PQ is holding up with all the new HDs? Guess "analog crush" means no more, or very few, analog channels. Had RCN in midtown Eastside several years back and found the HD PQ slightly better than TWC for digital channels; RCN's STB/service also measured slightly higher resolution-wise ( ~1335 lines vs ~1290 lines ) than TWC's STB/service using HDNet's test pattern.

Anyone else getting the newest HD channels? Spoke with a hotline rep (1-800-746-4726) and AIUI I'd need to pay the Basic Cable price ($35), $8.99 for a HD cable STB, $14.95 for Premium, $19.95 for Starz/Cinemax/Showtime Movie Premium HD, and $17.95 for HBO Movie Premium HD. Assume the new non-HD channels such as NASA and the Pentagon are included in such a package since the Premium encompasses the Signature channels. I get total of $61.84. (Add another $9 for an optional package of 7 HD channels, HD Premium, which includes the 2 HDNets.)-- John

EDIT: Looks to me, from the pdf lineup, that the four premium channels are now HD for virtually all of the premium 'flavors' within each premiium group! That's a remarkable boost in movie premium channels!
EDIT2: Using the RCN.com dropdown shopping menu, looks like the total cost, less ~$6 taxes, would be $108, not the estimate just above. That includes RCN Basic, RCN Premiere (formerly DigitalVision), HBO, Premium Movie Pack, HD Premiums (HDNets, etc.), plus a HD DVR STB.
