Crisis averted, KFMB has reached an agreement with the cable company. Terms weren't disclosed (another rate increase most likely coming), but programming won't be interrupted.

We recently got a condo in downtown on the 5th floor facing north. We move in end of month. What are my chances for decent OTA reception? Antennaweb.org shows promise of using an indoor multidirectional antenna for half the channels, maybe an amplified one for ABC. Has anyone tried this downtown? Does the concrete/steel beam construction change things? What's a good amplified indoor antenna that doesn't look weird and works?

Not good. The building will block most signals and the only stations you face are ABC (10) and CBS (8) which are VHF, i.e., you need a bigger antenna. Give it a shot but I suspect you'll end-up paying the $20 minimum for basic cable.

I'm in the Mission Valley area. I was looking at the Antennaweb site and it says that 8.1 CBS and 10.1 ABC are both in the same location. Any ideas why I get 8.1 and not 10.1? Would there be an indoor antenna that would offer me better performance in the VHF spectrum?

Edit: I'm currently using the Budget Antenna from Radioshack.

I'm in Mission Valley also, specifically Escala, north of the Ikea-Costco-Lowes shopping center, and its difficult to get both 8 and 10 because of the mesas between Mt Soledad and here. The received signal from 10 is weaker than 8 for me also. I tried using a flat RCA indoor antenna in a window highest off the ground, with limited success of getting both simultaneously. Ultimately I got a Channel Master outdoor antenna in my attic pointed to Mt Soledad to work and also getting 9.1, and stacked the RCA antenna right against the roof to get the rest of UHF channels on Mt. Miguel and TJ.

That's unfortunate. I don't really have access to an attic or outdoor space for an antenna. I think I'm going to try a few different antennas, perhaps a directional indoor antenna, and pray it works. It would be difficult to justify paying $20 a month to cable company just so I can get ABC.

If TWC was smart, they would give this channel for free as long as FSSD & TWC are bickering over cable subscriber fees.

I was wondering because TWC is going to launch startover/lookback in the Dallas market soon on iGuide and was wondering if someone could post some pics of how the startover menu on iGuide looks if it is enabled in North County.

TWC San Diego ODN was updated early morning hours on April 25, 2012 (for me at least). I now have 5.1.0_6 per the diagnostics page.

Infomercial station KSEX is now broadcasting digital on channel 42. Four channels. All commercials. Total waste of electricity.

Perhaps so. But isn't it fun to say you can get SEX on tv in San Diego. It would be a hoot if all four sub-channels were religious.

TWC San Diego Outage, Wed 8/22/12--- All three of my boxes (Cisco HD dvr +SA 8300 HD dvr + Cisco HD non dvr) have been flashing "dnLD CRrd" since at least 7 am. Called TWC (858-695-3220) computer voice advises there is an outage in my area (PQ) and technicians are working on it and the Customer reps have no additional information. Anyone else affected?

Edit: Service restored at 1:30pm

I am sort of doubting that TWC will carry FSSD.

Will any system in San Diego County (beside TWC systems) carry the new TWC SportsNet?
Another new LPTV channel, but with what kind of programming? K26FA just got licensed by the FCC to broadcast on rf and virtual channel 26 licensed to Vista, CA.

Good, now I can give Time Warner Cable a 6 month ultimatum now that u-verse carries Fox Sports San Diego. But in the meanwhile, I can bide my time with TWC, since they have NFL Network and that TWC Sportsnet will carry quite a few SDSU basketball games for the upcoming season.
