I wonder if this is going to replace "NBC Weather Plus"?

KTTV/KCOP are promoting their increase in transmitter power on;

http://www.myfoxla.com/dpp/story/dtv...tions-20100714

and asking if the stronger signal makes a difference. I am 29 miles from the transmitter and still have excellent signal strength. Is there any improvement in San Diego? The TV Fool info on both stations show a directional antenna with a null to the southwest of Mt Wilson. That pattern does not begin to fatten up again until about ESE of Mt. Wilson.

That story was from back in July.....

There are no doubt a few (very few....) locations in San Diego (mostly North County)
where the F/B Ratio of the antenna and local terrain blockages permit reception of
Hi-VHF stations from L.A. However, reception will be blocked for most of us by various
local stations: Ch8/10 (Mt Soledad), Ch9 (Mt Miguel), Ch7 (Poway) and Ch12 (Tijuana).

The northwest side of La Jolla, Ocean Beach, and the west side of Point Loma all are coastal locations that are well positioned to receive the LA over the air stations.

However, ABC and CBS have a cooking amount of adjacent channel interference on channels 8 and 10. (Fortunately their programming is worthwhile.) UCSD-TV's low power DTV channel 11 will knock out Fox KTTV if UCSD ever bothers to convert from analog.

Finally, the utterly worthless low power analog on channel 7 in Poway combined with strong adjacent channel interference from 8 and 10 effectively wipes out KABC Los Angeles. I don't know what the FCC was thinking.
post #817 of 1081
I am in Western San Marcos and receive LA VHF very well. @615 feet asl.

Often, 11.1 will have an alternate football game on vs. 705. Or 2.1 might be different than 708. With my TV, the P&P requires that the second window be the OTA tuner.
post #818 of 1081
I understand why the cursing of low power stations has started and will become more abundant. Program quality is low and these stations interfere with distant stations that offer something desirable.

The channel 11 application was dismissed last month.

TWC-SD Legal Notice says two more HD Channels are coming (soon???):
http://www.timewarnercable.com/sandi...galnotice.html
Note they'll be SDV channels (NOT accessible by CableCARD equipped HDTVs)....
Primetime HD On Demand, Ch 722, Free On Demand. [Yeah!!!!!!!]
Showtime 2 HD, Ch652, Showtime Premium package. [Ditto........]

Several HD Channel numbers are changing, on or after Nov 23:
Univision HD from 715 to 717;
Smithsonian Channel HD from 717 to 825;
Smithsonian Channel HD On Demand 1017 to 826;
MavTV HD from 720 to 824,
MGM HD from 723 to 827;
Universal HD from 724 to 828.

I'm going to speculate they might be making way for the previously announced
NEW Local Spanish HD channels, such as XHAS HD (Telemundo, Ch720).

Dozens of Spanish language digital tier channels are also coming....soon.....

I also saw that ESPN Goal Line/Buzzer Beater will be made available to everyone who has expanded basic cable with a TWC STB/DVR.

post #824 of 1081
NEW HD CHANNEL has been active for several days now on TWC-SD:
Showtime 2 HD, Ch652, Showtime Premium package.

BTW: Primetime HD On Demand, Ch 722, Free On Demand isn't in the guide yet. If you
punch in Ch722 directly, it says to call Customer Care....so should be active soon.....

I just noticed Cox San Diego's Channel Line-up, (dated Effective-9/1/10) is showing additional HD Premiums,
As far as I have seen this is a first for Cox to offer all HBOs, SHOs, Starz, Cinemax in HD.
San Diego lists these Channels as "+ Channel available with subscription to Cox Plus Pak"
http://ww2.cox.com/wcm/en/residentia...llineup_sd.pdf

Is this widely available? Is it only available with the Trio IPG? or can you get them on TiVo Premier?

That post was 10 days ago! Hardly "preceding." Many posts in between the two.

As far as I know, they are only available with the "Plus Pak", which includes "Trio" and the MR-DVR. Additionally, the above is not yet available to Cox SD customers, but is being "tested" by Cox SD employees in various locations. Odd that is says "effective 9-1-10", but is not yet on the regular channel lineup page. Obviously, testing hasn't gone well. The .pdf file is of the pamphlet that is mailed out when the changes are made. It hasn't yet been mailed.

That's exactly what I wanted. Thanks.

Are all the streams besides 50-1 showing color bars or something at the moment?

Yep, I'm getting nothing but color bars on 50-2 through 50-4.

The Ch 50-x signal appears to be much stronger than Telefutura's KTDF:

50-1 Pacific Spanish Network ?
50-2 Milenio
50-3 Mxcanal
50-4 MTVTRES

50-1 has an American movie playing now. I know Milenio is news and MTVTRES is repeated junk-music. Thanks to coyoteaz for this link from the Mexican thread:

P.S. I wish that hdtv.forsandieg.com was back online, it's needed.
