Looks like it's back up. A utility failure caused the site to go down, and now everything has been fixed.

Power outages can and will happen from time to time. This power outage affected the city the datacenter is located in.

We're now IPv6 enabled in addition to IPv4.

Then again KNSD does the weather on the weekends in HD, while the LA originating footage is in SD.

Look like KFMB is getting ready for Me TV. Currently broadcasting a copy of the main CBS channel.

Not sure if I like the sound of that, which could degrade picture quality of KFMB's main channel which is pretty good.

TWC San Diego will allow DIY CableCARD installs starting on 8/1. You'll need to call in tech support as the automated STB number doesn't work for those devices.

I wonder why TWC San Diego keeps pushing out the date for the addition of Lifetime HD? Time warner cable Dallas/Austin/Waco/Beaumont/Rio Grande added it and ESPN Deportes HD on july 21st. In North Texas it was added only 4 days after it was announced in the legal notice for TWC North Texas.

Short outage is being planned at 12:00 AM for a software update. It's not going to take too long. I'm going to be updating the MyBB software to the latest version.
TWC San Diego did enable Lifetime HD on CH. 759, though my 8300HD doesn't have the data for it. My Cisco 4640, Samsung 3270, and 3260 have the channel and the guide data for it.
Decided to close down the board early, but it's back up using MyBB v1.6.4.

Lifetime HD was added to the San Diego/Coronado system within the last couple of days. It's on ch. 759.

I don't have a 3D capable TV to verify, but Azteca is broadcasting two channels in 720P. One of them is looping a split screen with similar images. Is one of them in 3D?

sounds like it, have a screen shot?

Very interesting. I'm not surprised that TSReader cannot parse the 3D video.

How does the bitrate for KFMB/CBS/8 compare: OTA vs Cox vs TWC ?

I just got done watching the Chargers game on Cox 708 and it generally looked great on my friend's 1080p plasma. At one point, though, I was standing up close to the screen and I could see 'mosquitos' around the graphics whenever the camera or players were moving. It was really minor but enough to make me question the bitrate.

They are all the same, cable guys basically just rebroadcasts it(unless something changed very recently). Only the satellite guys transcode them so their bitrates change.

KFMB has been broadcasting a subchannel, so thats why the PQ has gotten worse.

I tested that once or twice with my TiVo S3, which can record from cable and OTA. Files for the OTA recordings were slightly larger, but the difference was negligible--100 Kbps or so, generally less than 2%; if they were transrating, the cable companies would go for a reduction in the 20%-30% range. It's been a couple of years since the last time I did that but I doubt that anything's much changed.

KFMB's OTA bit rate has dropped from 18+ Mbps to around 15.5 Mbps since they started playing with sub-channels.

Still having issues with the domain being transferred but I still have some time, so don't worry. It will likely be fixed by then. I'm transferring my domain over to another registrar to save money.

I meant "I doubt that anything has changed in terms of the cable companies reducing the bit rate of the OTA feed". The broadcasters add and delete subchannels and allocate the bits in their assigned bandwidth as they see fit.

City News Service

Internet and telephone service for thousands of Southern California homes and businesses went out Sunday, as one of the largest Internet providers tried to repair a system-wide failure in its network serving part of San Diego, as well as Los Angeles and Orange counties and the Coachella Valley.

Oh, I agree. KFMB has dropped their primary channel bit rate to about 15.5Mbps. About two months ago, I measured the same rate on Cox.

I've heard that KFMB will add Me-TV sometime next month.

Domain transfer (sandiegohdtv.org) was great success.
