I removed the link - Unknown when the link will be available.
Ooops. Sorry about that, kacheng and Coastman, I did not realize. I guess you will have to wait.

Why was it removed? Not enough donations or is there a problem with the firmware?

By the way, Sango, thanks for your efforts in keeping us pany dvd player owners up to date.

Hi angryht:

The site host did not respond about an inquiry of mine reguarding file corruption. This was brought up to me from another AVS member who mentioned it in the other firmware thread of mine.

Until the host responds to me and to correct the problem, the link has been removed.

Unfornately the link is not comming back because he didn't respond so I'm not going take chances of people getting corrupted files.

If a new site is established, I can contribute the ISO d21zsavd.cfw file.

Argh, searched the net for another source and no luck. Looking to update my Denon DVD-1600 as I'm having some problems playing dvd-r. Would anyone be kind enough to host this somewhere for me to grab, or perhaps post it to usenet so a lot of us can grab?

Or, if someone would get it to me I will post it to usenet. Either way.

Thanks.

I can host it on my website if someone wants to gmail it to me...

I have lots of unlimited and unmetered space on my site hosted at webhost4life.com.

Will gmail accept bigger than 10mb attachments? Think I read somewhere that 10mb is the biggest you could attach, but don't know if that's the biggest you can accept. At any rate, someone take up his offer!!

That's why email isn't an option.
OK. I wasnt sure cause I dont actually use gmail much yet...

Alternatives?
Well, the image could be rar'ed down to less than 10mb. Then each file could be sent as an attachment. Isn't it around 50mb? It would only be 6 files or so......

It can be done that way but it's a hassle compared to one transfer.

I have two versions of the firmware, the 50 and 70. The one you need will depend on what unit is going to be updated.

OK folks, until Sango gets his web host woes straightened out, I can host the panasonic firmware download:

ftp: ftp.mikeparent.ca
usr: mparenttemp
pwd: firmware

Sango has uploaded a nero rar file here called "Panasonic DVD Firmware Update Nero.rar"

It is 78.8 MB in size

Sango can you let me know when I can remove this as I dont think I can host it indefinitely...

Enjoy!

EDIT: Jan 20- Do to a temporary change in my hosting plan, I no longer have the space to host this until May - I will post an update then... my apologies.
Apologies, as I didn't have time to read through the 45 pages.
Do I need this firmware update if I currently have 282-version on my RP82?
[I only watch mainstream DVD-movies from the major studios.]
I'll save the bandwidth if it won't benefit me directly.

Thanks,
Keith

MikeParent:

The link is back on since the host responded and reported no problems.

There are improvements in the PQ with the new firmware. The performance of the unit responds better too.

The only thing I caution people is, it's gotta be stock unit.

Sango,
Thank you for responding. I have your Nero.rar file---I have uncompressed the contents (141MB '.nrg' file) with winrar. I also have Nero Burn 6. What are the next steps for burning the correct file to CD-R? Or a link to that info?
[I do have a stock RP82, and will burn at 4X]

Keith

i have an sdi modded rp56. As i have been largely ignorant of the update issues, could someone direct me to the site? Thanks, this thread has no refs to that player.

There are reference pics on the firmware website if you're unfamiliar with how to use it.

For the users who already know, just double click the image and go on from there. Depending which Nero you're using (Nero / Nero Express, use DAO/96) if possible.

karos,

Yes, and it's already been covered in the thread. For exact details, you can visit the firmware website.

Hello everyone !

Hey Sango ! Guess what !

A few days ago, I decided to download the nrg file from the mikeparent ftp server, which is the 140mb file (remember that I only tried the first one under 100mb).

I burned the CD and placed it in my CV52 unit. It only read the disk to display a black screen then return back to default screen. No questions asked. Yesterday, I was looking at a movie and saw that my unit settings were back to default (looks like a reset was performed by the disk).

I decide to check the firmware displayed on the unit and...

I saw 62D082 instead of the good old v032.

Looks like that I really needed the full 140mb file.

Thanks to you and mikeparent. Now I'll have to see if something has changed.

I hope vmark will see this and try. Maybe his problem is the same.

Regards.

Your welcome sir - you also bring up a very good point - this will reset the settings on the player - I had to go back in and re-enable progressive scan and DTS among other things...

Firmware for Denon DVD-1600?

I have been looking everywhere and cannot find it. Does anyone here have the 94 meg image file (the one originally posted) that would be willing to share it with me? I would be extremely grateful.

I have unfortunately spent the entire evening burning CDs from the 140 meg image.. not knowing that it did not include the Denon firmware.

Thanks,
A.F.
