I got the update on my RNG200N box, but online DVR management and changing channels with the TV app still do not work. Big surprise. rolleyes.gif The TV app can at least see my DVR now, but it can't control it.

Yeah, the DVR Manager site still says it's not available for my zip code. Also, the http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/mytv/cable-boxes page for my account says "TV Control is not activated for this account", which gives me the impression that we're just waiting for the Houston tech monkeys to flip the on switch. I'm not saying it's as easy as that, but that's what it looks like from our perspective.

Wait another week...

Maybe head to the Comcast office with torches and pitchforks...

Actually I will likely start resetting the box or calling Comcast to see if it should be active yet.

Interesting - my DVR is showing up on that site and on the mobile app, however, I can't control anything yet.

DVR Manager is available in your area. However, we are
unable to detect a compatible DVR in your household.

For what it's worth I unplugged my RNG200 for 15 minutes or so and then let it load back up (showed the new guide download - even though it already had it) and then I waited about another 15 minutes and now it is synching with the site!

Looks like it will be working shortly.

I found the web page that let me activate my dvr but I still haven't been able to control it with the iPhone app.

I find that web site now shows the two RNG200 DVR's I have but it won't "show name on TV".

The Xfinity app now lets me schedule recordings on my DVR, but I still can't change channels using the app. Not that I have any interest in that anyway.

Same - I wish there was some kind of confirmation on the app to ensure that your command was successful. Oh well I will take what I can get... I know you can check scheduled recordings 15-30 minutes after but that is something else to remember.

I can schedule and delete recordings via the Xfinity App on my 8300HD. I thought it wasn't supposed to be compatible with this STB?

Man CBS (611) has been the pits lately with macroblocking. Anyone tested with antenna to see if it is just typical KHOU over-compression from sub channels or Comcast?

I'm able to change channels with the app now. Originally I tried turning on TV control at http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/rh, and then powercycling my dvr ans reistalling the app, but that didn't work.

So Comcast support eventually reset my password and logged into my account from their iPad, and it started working. Not sure how that fixed it but it did.

Did anybody else have--

During the Texans/Bengals game-- some compression artifacts during regular play activity; especially noticeable when fast forwarding thru non-play activity (crowds, between downs, etc.). None for commercials (real time or FF).
During the A&M/Okla game-- no compression artifacts.

Ceton tuner, Ch 605, no audio. For some reason in the past 2 weeks, either Comcast or The CW started broadcasting the audio for this channel on the secondary audio channel, rather than the default. I can change to the secondary audio manually, but it doesn't stick, have to change every time I want to watch a recording or live TV. Anyone else see this? Seems the cable boxes are oblivious to this "feature".

I have the same issue with 605, and have had a case open on it for a week now. They were supposed to call me today by noon, 10 minutes to go and still no call. 605 also has a hard time even locking in when I change to it. Normally wouldn't care but there is one show my wife watches each week on that channel.

I had an error also when going into the stand alone diagnostics and trying to manually set that channel to verify authorization. Don't remember what it was. Can you try to set the channel manually (not in the web interface, the stand-alone diags) and see if it kicks off an error, and I will do that tonight and report back the error.

Who do you have a ticket open with - Ceton? Funny I found another forum where someone had same issue.

I have a ticket open with Comcast. I guess the combo of few people using WMC vs fewer people watch the CW, they claim no one else is reporting any issues.

If I look at the audio stream info on that channel this is what I see:
Audio 1 = English: Music and Effects
Audio 2 = English: Content Default

The actual channel audio is on 1, but WMC wants to use 2 based on the type info.

In the diagnostic tool, in the CableCARD screen I get 'Tuning Channel 605... Success' right away.

My guess is that the cable boxes are just 'dumb' and defaulting to audio track 1 regardless. WMC is trying to be smart and getting tripped up in the process due to incorrect labeling of the streams.

There was a similiar situation with one of the brodcast channels in Houston (I can not remember which one) in the early days of ATSC transmission. In that case Media Center defaulted to the Spanish track rather than the English track. I seem to remember that it turned out that Media Center just uses the first audio track and that station had Spanish as track 1.

Anyway, I do not think it is a Comcast issue and suggest everyone contact the station and have them fix it. That is what was nessary it the case I mentioned.

As a side note my TiVos and ATSC antenna feed find the English track properly. It is just Media Center that has the issue.

homerun prime has the same issue. It is a issue with the CW station. too bad "Bob" is no longer working at that station( at KUHT now i believe);he would have fixed this issue asap.

I recently replaced my 2 SA8300HD boxes and just realized the caller ID option but it didn't work when I tried it last night. Does anyone know whether the ITV (Caller ID) feature is activated via the RNG200N boxes?

In shift, Comcast now bills for once-free digital adapters:

This is espcially bad because it applies to the cheap SD versions of the DTA's that were deployed and are pretty much useless on HDTV's. The article does mention that they are looking to roll out HD versions of these DTAs but didn't say when.

That's not all fee-wise. When I added my TIVO cablecard, the cost jumped up to $9.50 for the cablecard. Apparently the codes to charge $2.50 no longer exist in their system (the service rep was as perplexed as I was). If any of you are able to ADD a cablecard for less than $9.50, please tell me your secret. Luckily, my other 2 in tv's are still on the old codes.

I've also been in contact with Ceton. When trying to watch channel 605 on extenders, it actually gives a black screen along with no audio. I didn't find out till today when trying to watch it on the PC itself, that I could actually get video. When trying to change the language it will actually give me video on the extenders (along with the audio of course). I hope we can get this fixed on Comcasts or CW's end!
