Should I swap out my SA8300 for the RNG200N? Comments, feedback?
Comcast let us know that they issue with channel 605 in Houston, TX should be resolved. If Ceton customers is still seeing this issue (and hasn't already done so) please open a support ticket with us.

It is fixed here, has been for at least a week.

I replaced my 8300 with the 200 and then replaced the 200 with the 200N. I like having the extra storage and I have only had the usual "system" issues but none with the 200N that I can identify.

Has Comcast changed their channel lineup 2, 3 days ago? (No, I'm not talking about QAM)

My 609, 611, 612, 613, 704, ... are all gone. I've found a few known channels at totally different numbers.

My TiVo HD recently has shown issues sometime which required me to reboot, but I doubt the TiVo box has such an issue that can cause the channel mapping to be different.

Thanks for any input!

I haven't had that problem with my RNG200N.

I was hoping I could get an opinion on some Comcast internet and phone issues I've been having in 77379.

My internet is sporadic at best, where it's on for 2-3 minutes, then off for about 5 or 10, then the cycle repeats. My cable TV signal is fine. My Comcast phone will also occasionally go out. The Comcast phone representative said my cable modem is not getting a consistent signal.

FYI, I'm pretty sure the issue is not in my house. I had this issue about 5 months ago, and Comcast swapped my cable modem, replaced a splitter in my wiring box in my house, and replaced a "spigot" in the green box in my back. None of these fixed the issue. But it miraculously fixed itself sometime after all these "fixes".

I had the same symptoms about 6 mos ago.
Tech replaced modem.
Problem went away.

No problems with my Tivo Premiere XL4 or SA8300HD. Could be your cablecard needs to be replaced?

Had a comcast tech at my house today after I was getting "no tv signal" on 75% of my channels. This is with a cable card and Hauppauge 2650 dual tuner. Told me there is a Houston wide cable card outage since this past weekend. I wish they would have let all their support reps know since I spent hours and hours with them over the past few days.
Really a "Houston wide CableCard outage"?? My TiVOs and Ceton have been working fine in zip code 77379. Maybe the issue is just in some areas or do you think he was just "blowing smoke" so he could leave without fixing your problem?
^^Yeah, I call b/s on that. My tivo and c/c equipped tv's have been working just fine (Pearland area).
Who knows with these guys, maybe it's just my neighborhood, 77041. I did manage to get his managers cell number before he took off so I'll try and get to the bottom of it tomorrow. I'm having to torrent everything for right now to keep peace in the house, but who knows how long that will last.

No problems here either - I would escalate ASAP, there is NOT a 'Houston wide' issue.

New speeds kicked in today! Oh ya!!

Power cycle your modems...

Blast went from 20/4 to 50/10.

Something definitely changed. Went to fast forward my 8300HD and it got stuck doing so. All buttons non-responsive. Pulled the plug. New boot screen that I had never seen before. Said up to 5 minutes to reload and then had separate progress lines for on demand, program guide, and something else. When the ability to play a recorded show came back the guide was still empty and I restarted the show we were watching. Play was normal until all of a sudden the scene would lose audio. Rewinding a bit and then starting from that point and the audio would then be there until it dropped out again. After doing this a number of times (and noticing the guide was repopulating in the background) we quit. Too annoying to deal with. Very odd to me that a recorded show that presumably sits on the box's hard drive would drop the audio while background maintenance functions were happening. This has not ever happened before with any software change or under any other circumstance. mad.gif

Replaced the 8300HD for the new Cisco RNG-200N which now freezes up all the time - unresponsive for 30 seconds then does whatever IR commands I hit on the remote all at once... happens about once every five minutes. Happened after the recent guide update.

Wish they would stop trying to add features and just make it work. The Tivo is so much better.

Power cycled my modem twice (battery backed up telephony one from Comcast docsis 3.0 - so held reset in for a long time) - DL still locked at 15mb (that comcast claimed was my 25mb).. but upload has improved to 6mb - so will once again try to call Comcast and argue about it.

What internet plan do you have?

This behavior is not unique to the Cisco box. I see it from time to time on the 8300HD.

Blast.. (or these days non-blast).

Spoke to Comcast and they agreed I should be seeing much faster speeds. Two different reps agreed the modem had a good signal and will send a tech out later this week.

Here is the modem status page - any issues about signal as this is on a two way splitter from the main cable line (as installed by comcast) - one lead to cable modem other to TV 'stuff'. Looks to me like almost too much signal is coming in, but I am no expert in reading Power and SNR levels. I think the modem is just provisioned incorrectly as old Docsis 2.0 modem had this speed, the new Docsis 3.0 pre-recent speed change was this speed and now post speed increase - same speed.

Where is the Comcast's Watchathon week? I don't see anything!

Those levels do seem high. Don't know if that's the cause though. I don't think DOCSIS 2 had bonded channels, though.

Perhaps it doesn't work with cablecard or not available in Houston. I still don't have access to premium channels this week

You need a Docsis 3 modem to get the faster speeds.

It is access to the shows through ON DEMAND, not the regular channels. CableCard outside of a comcast box = no on-demand. You can still get them on the XFinity online or the XBox app if you can use that.

I do have a docsis 3.0 modem... Comcast 'de-provisioned' the modem and re-activated it and all is now working. Only took 3 calls and an hour without phone/internet this time.

I picked up a RNG200N and I can't get it to work with DVR Manager. Called Comcast and they are clueless.

i had the same problem several months ago. I just had to hound them until my issue was finally assigned to one of their app engineers who had a clue.

Does this page show that TV control is activated for you: http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/mytv/cable-boxes ?
