Oh, my F/W date changed to 5/23/13 on both DVR's now.

That matches my date. Here is my DOCSIS:

Bill from Comcast, I assume Tier 2, just called me about text messages On Screen. I had a ticket open about that because I thought it wasn't working. He said that feature hasn't been released yet. Even though there is a setting for it in the preferences.

I asked about AnyRoom and he either didn't know or didn't want to say much. Except that maybe Atlanta is rolling that out now. I asked if the firmware date 5/23 was current and he said it was for the DVRs. But that the HD STB's are on an older firmware. For now.

I don't understand what the text message feature/option does

Also, I looked at my 24-month contract and notice it says it is for either HD DVR or AnyRoom DVR. That might answer my question about whether there is any difference in cost. I still don't know how many STB's are included in that price for my setup. And, I don't know how many STB's are included with AnyRoom.

Robert, did your DVR's get stuck downloading firmware this morning?

Good question. I didn't get the "DL XX" display, but I checked my fw version this morning and it hadn't changed from May to June and I saw some kind of message in the dieagnostics saying the fw was not completely downloaded.

You remember where that was at in the diagnostics?

I don't know how you get such good screenshots of your TV. smile.gif

Firmware D/L Status:

Is that the one to look at?
Huh, I don't see that on either of mine.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with SNR that's in red.

I wonder whether I should call that SNR in.

Hmm. It appears that one of my two X1 DVR's is now updated with the June software. The other one doesn't have the firmware status failed but it still has the May software.

You're not going to like this. I called and sales said AnyRoom is available here. BUT, it requires a reset of your X1 DVR's, meaning you lose recordings, etc.

You are right. My wife is not going to like that.

Now I wonder if they will replace the four X1 boxes and the gateway I have now. And I wonder if AnyRoom uses the same X1 interface.

Same boxes, same X1. I decided to go along with this lab rat testing. I'll update when I have more.

LOL! Succer! I called them and they said the X1 gude isn't ready yet for AnyRoom. He said to wait about a month and the new guide will be ready. And he said I would save the cost of the second DVR that I am paying for now.

Let me know if you get the X1 guide. It sounds like it is coming as a rollout over the Houston area.

Yep, I was suckered!

The BS Factor never ceases to amaze me. I wait an hour. No reset signal. Call back and the lady says its not being rolled out until maybe July.
The misinformation and confusion among employees is staggering.

What do you mean "let me know if you get the X1 guide"? You mean X2?

Did you get my PM?

I mean the guide we presently see with the X1 DVR. I was told by the CSR that AnyRoom installations now have the old RNG200 guide. He said AnyRoom wouldn't get the new guide until later.

At this point who knows if they even know what they're talking about. Benghazi was handled better.

LOL! That a great line! And it reflects exactly how I feel.

A couple of X1 questions for you guys.

Can you use an ESATA external HD? I have a 1TB on my 8300HD I would like to move over. I know shows on it won't move over.

How many channels can record at once?

eSATA isn't enabled at this time on the X1 DVR.

The X1 DVR can record 4 programs while watching a fifth program, but it doesn't have much of a buffer, or maybe none.

Anyone else notice this weird teaser commercial on the local channels lately? I'm guessing its related to Xfinity because of the font and color. Maybe just X1's for all sub levels? X1 update? AnyRoom? X2 I doubt but still don't see too much of a relation to our world becoming bigger. Its possible its not even Comcast related but sure does seem like it. 5 sec teaser with a cheap lens flare is right up their ally.

It's the new Fox Sports channel.

"Effective July 20, 2013, the Comcast store location at 5301B Bissonnet, Bellaire,TX 77401 will be closed.
Please visit our new store location at 2616 South Voss Road, Houston,TX 77057, which will open on Monday, July 22, 2013."

This is Westheimer & Voss, Northwest corner parking lot. Google shows it to be an old Blockbuster building.

Yep, and that stinks 'cause their Bissonnet location was literally 2 minutes from my shop on Spruce St. (in Bellaire) . . .

They moved the one in Clear Lake to Dickinson practically. Ugh

They do not want us to actually show up in person when they can charge $29 for a truck roll.

The Bellaire location was great for me as well - last time I went to the storefront there were about 25 people in line. It was always busy, so I suspect once again it is NOT about meeting the customers needs, but saving a $1 a square foot in rent.

That sucks. Now the line will be 50 deep.

Oh yeah, at least . . .

And to get there, I gotta cross 59, Richmond and Westheimer. Best to run North on Chimney Rock or Renwick / Fountainview to avoid the veritable UN of the worst drivers in Houston on Hillcroft, LOL!
