Any ideas on what happened to ABC on 2-1? I had it but lost it a few weeks ago? I scanned all the channels again and still get nothing... Does anyone know if ABC is out? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for writing to Talk2Us. We definitely appreciate your loyal viewing.

WSB-TV began the process of changing out our DTV antenna Tuesday morning. If you receive us over the air, our signal could be affected for a period of about 10 days while the workers are on the tower. You might receive our signal sporadically and at varying strengths during this time. Our signal will return in force once the upgrade is complete and, depending on where you are located, you may even see a noticeable improvement. This is the reason for the move.

We hope for your patience during this process of upgrading our signal.

Just got A Update from Wsb-Tv.

In an attempt to stay in touch, here is an update regarding the work being done on our transmission tower.

We maintain close contact with the crew that is working on the tower. Wind and rain have impacted the progress that is scheduled for each day. The current update I can provide you is that our signal will not be at full power until the first half of the week of September 14th. We will update you again as to when we are a firm go with a return to full power.

Sincerely,

Gary Alexander

Is it just me, or is TVGOS data down in teh Atlanta OTA market again? I think I ahve been w/o the data for about a week or so.

Has anyone noticed that WYGA now has their digital broadcast going on 16.1-4? 16.1, 3 and 4 is showing a black screen and 16.2 is airing White Springs Television content. After Equity Media Holdings had their melt down with RTV/Luken Communications back in the winter, I was able to pick up WYGA analog for a few days but that disappeared fairly quick.

The programming on 16.2 may be low-quality public domain fare but as a movie lover who has never been able to shake the jones for movies since I gave up cable a little over a year ago, this is a welcome addition. Especially snce the movies are presented with no commercial interruptions.

Question for you OTA guys...did anyone see any of the Peachtree TV broadcast of the UT game? Was it in HiDef? KO was at 12:20 PM on this past Saturday....
Yes, TVGOS appears to be out again. My listings only go through this Thursday, nothing Friday through Monday. I also upgraded my Sony DHG with the .21 firmware and can't get grid or clock. Anyone have the email address for the WGCL CBS engineer?

It was in hidef. Western Kentucky was massacred in glorious hidef and Knoxville color. We'll see how Tennessee does against real SEC opponents, not power puff teams.

Channel 8/12, Georgia Public Broadcasting, now has too weak a signal for me to pick up. Is anyone else having this problem?

No problems with gptv 8 at my location in the far northeast...

I got a response back from Steve at CBS. We'll have to be patient in the Atlanta area while TV Guide resolves a conflict with Apex converter boxes...

"We have disabled TVGOS AGAIN due to another problem. This time we discovered the feed was disrupting our signal on APEX converter boxes. These are the ones sold at Best Buy.

The folks at TV Guide are working on it. Until they correct we will not air the signal.

Thank you for the answer...

Following up on two things:

Did anyone watch the ESPN SEC games on WPCH? How did they look? (more info)

Has the WSB reception trouble cleared up for everyone? They were supposed to be done with their antenna work by Sept 5th. (more info)

EDIT: well, I thought I'd read the entire thread before posting this, but I hadn't. Never mind

Thanks metalav8b for the TVGOS / WGCL info. I'm currently running my trusty old analog TVGOS DVR device without data (doing manual recording), but I'm going to soon tackle an attempt at getting digital-to-analog TVGOS conversion to work (per FAQ), so it'll be good to know whether the digital signal is actually up before I pull all my hair out over it!

Mine has been especially spotty for a few days now, but it's generally weak and susceptible to weather (I think).

WGTV is working fine here and I haven't noticed any changes lately. However, if you're still looking for them on 12 that could be the problem. They are on actual channel 8 now.

am picking up the signal with good signal strength here in East Cobb.
on Ch 16-2 is White Springs TV. You can google it to get a schedule of movies

I have more info :

In order to avoid losing the authorization on channel 45 due to a statutory 12-month cutoff, WYGA-CA has been broadcasting on a special temporary authorization on channel 45 at a low power (2 kW ERP) until WGCL ends its analog nightlight period on June 26. Its application is for 150kW in the direction of beam tilt, equivalent to 115kW in the horizontal plane. The directional antenna produces a kidney shape, with the major lobes of its antenna pattern toward the north-northeast and west-southwest.

The station has a construction permit for WYGA-LD on channel 16, from the same location as analog 45, which is on the same tower as WUPA TV in the southern part of the Reynoldstown neighborhood along I-20. The antenna pattern is similar, but has less of a null toward the northwest. First issued in 2006, it was modified in late April 2009, and expires in late Oct

I am receiving a very good OTA signal on 27.3 and 27.4. Oddly, no 27.1 and 27.2. HD TiVo says they are on UHF channel 27. WAGA-DT is on Channel 27, and I get 5.1 and 5.2 fine (UHF channel 27). So I am wondering if WAGA has their PSIP info wrong and that's what's on 27.3 and 27.4? Anyone want to weigh in about this?
Sony TVs that are manually tuned do not automatically remap, in this case, from 27-3 to 5-1. Assuming there's nothing wrong at WAGA, you need to do a rescan to get WAGA to show up on 5-1.

You should re-read my post. It is not a Sony TV issue, and I didn't state I was using a Sony tuner.
Your signature lists two Sony tuners and a TiVo. Your post mentions the TiVo in passing without specifying it as the problem.

I had a two in three chance of guessing correctly which brand of device was giving you a problem.

Since I do not have any info on how the TiVo maps their channels I can only give it a WAG. My Sonys, (tv and dvr) both show WAGA as 5.1, and 5.2, these being the only two active at this time. Your TiVo must use a different channel mapping/assignment system for it to show 27.1-.4. It is using .3 and .4 as the active channels. Now why that is ?? , it is very odd. You would think that TiVo would be able to give you the correct channel assignments as WAGA was channel 5 (analog) and that is what we all are used to. Kind of stupid on TiVos part to do that.

That same wikipedia article you quoted from says it's 4 kW, and rabbitears.info confirms it. I'm getting a clear 80% signal a couple miles away from that site. Well, clear digital, but the picture has got some ugly analog interference scrolling vertically up through it. I'm guessing they've got an analog link in their transmit chain and it's got a ground loop or something.

I've added it to the grid linked in my sig below.

I corroborate the analog ground loop-looking artifact.

Watching last night somebody was on there trying to run Windows Media Player on XP, but they couldn't get it right. Eventually they rebooted the computer . . . all on the air.

Some of the most entertaining programming I've seen in a while!

Just now they started playing a music video starring "Walter Liberace" playing Tiger Rag. Man, That's Entertainment!

(Tongue in cheek. I'm actually enjoying it. )

I believe this is a license restriction. According to Wikipedia they are low power and only transmit at 4 kW and share a tower with WUPA. I get them way up in Woodstock though the signal is a little low.

Yes I am using channel 8.

I got the signal back fine on Wednesday. Then yesterday I could not get channel 8. Now it is back. I have not moved the antenna. Perhaps it is a problem unique to zip 30307 or my location or the weather. Under the best of conditions my signal reception for 8 is in the 65% strength range but I have been receiving 8 fine for a long time.

But, thanks for the response. I was wondering if it is just my problem.

Are channel 32 and 29 the same thing? I have two tuners. One built into my Philips TV and one cheapo Insignia. I get some channels on one and some on the other. I use the Philips for all HD and the other is great for Qubo on 14 and such for the kids. The thing is on the Philips I get several channels on 29 from WANN. On the Insignia I don't get that channel but I do get several dark subchannels on 32. Anyone know what the deal is there?
