Now there are four subchannels of WGBS:

.1 - RTV: Retro Television Network
.2 - Informercial channel
.3 - Civic/public affairs channel
.4 - Boxed Fruit. For some reason, they have a channel selling boxed citrus. I - - - I don't know what to make of that.

I get that, and I've been suckered, um, approached by my little cousin into buying a box of navel oranges a couple of weeks ago. A whole network pitching it? Weird. It's 8:21 at the time I'm writing this. Still on.

But yeah, wonder what they're going to do with the slot when the sales drive is over.

Not sure if it's worth rescanning for boxed fruit. I wonder how they expect to get any sales if they don't announce somehow on the other multicast channels. I see it's on their web site. Appears to be a fundraiser for the station.

I'm just happy I can recieve WGBS now from my place near Ward's Corner, just for RTV. Up until 2 weeks ago I got ZILCH from that station.

I'm still getting zilch here in the Sono section of Chesapeake. I got WGBS to scan in one time but I've never been able to get a picture, I'm just using an indoor powered antenna in my attic.

I'm using a RS U-75 on a mast about 20 feet up. I don't know whether they increased their ERP from 300 watts or they weren't at 300 watts until 2 weeks ago. If it's the former I don't see in the FCC database what the increase is up to. Odd. Being only 7 miles from their transmitter site, I figured I should have been recieving them from the start.

This morning into the afternoon WGBS' pictures on all 3 multicasts were pixillating badly. Now my TV is flashing "Weak Signal". RF meter is wildly fluxuating. Anyone else out there that have been recieving this station the last 3 weeks (since I started receiving it) seeing the same? I hope it's only temporary but I fear not.

Hi, folks. I'm in the Larchmont area, just north of ODU. I'm thinking about going to OTA for HDTV and hoping that one of my neighbors can share their setup and experience. I'm using an indoor Terk antenna right now with decent results, but I'm having enough trouble getting NBC and CBS that I'm not ready to give cable up yet. I'm considering adding an outdoor antenna.

If you can, do just that. Too much structure, trees and people in the house for OTA DTV for an indoor antenna to really work well.

I'm located 5 blocks east of Ward's Corner. I use a UHF antenna and have no problems with the local full power stations. I do lose WSKY during times of stormy weather. I also recieve WKTD-CD 17.1 and WNLO-CD 45.1 most of the time but since they simulcast WAVY and WVBT respectfully they are of no consequence when their signals degrade during weather events. Lately I have been recieving WGBS-LD but their signal seems to come and go. Being in Larchmont you may have a more consistent signal from that station if you like to watch old classic programming on RTV network.

You can do it yourself, it is easy in Hampton Roads because all the stations are in the same direction. I installed a Channel Master CM2016 way out in Mathews, it is compact and picks up every HR station including 17 & 45. I recommend using a Channel Master 7777 booster too. The antenna can be installed like a sat dish on the side of the house or chimney, i was able to hide it from the street. I also have a DTVPAL-DVR, you can find them on ebay, no subscription and mine works great. Good Luck.

I did it myself. No rocket science here. Just point toward northern Suffolk (Driver specifically). My antenna is on a mast strapped to the chimney. WSKY's transmitter is near South Mills NC; you still shouldn't have any problem during fair weather.

Being about 15 miles from Driver, using a preamp may be a little overkill, but may come in handy during weather events. Heavy rain will degrade a DTV signal big time! The preamp may help you pull in WUND (UNC TV) in NC.

Jccsup, do you live in a restricted neighborhood in Matthews? I can't imagine needing to hide an antenna there....

Matthews is a second home, but I have an antenna on my house in Kingsmill which is hidden as well. Did not need to hide Matthews, but was able too and still get a good signal. Weather does not seem to affect my reception besides the occasional out of market channel interference.

Has anyone else noticed that the TV Guide listings broadcast by WTVZ 33-1 and 33-2 are swapped? I am not sure how long it has been like this but I hope the WTVZ engineer reads this and works on getting it set up right.

An engineer in another Thread stated that AntennaTV will start sending out a promo loop on the network feed before its launch on 1/1/11. It's a guess that WTKR will also run this because it means AntennaTV will start its programming at midnight with no need for an engineer (to be) at the station to do any switching...

As of now, WTKR has not yet started 3.2.

I think it's amazing that there has been no mention of ATV coming anywhere OTA or on its website that I have seen. Meanwhile, WGHP in High Point NC has been promoting ATV on both website AND on OTA as evidenced by a pic on the Greensboro thread. Just found out this morning that I'll be in GSO tonight. I may be awake for the kick off there.

There is some issue with WTKR and they will launch the network in a few weeks. The network is up and running and there are some screencaps coming to the Greensboro thread.

Oh, yeah? What seems to be the problem? I was thinking of contacting a couple of old aquantances, engineers, at WTKR to ask what was up

I did see the kickoff of ATV in Greensboro; watched a couple hours before falling asleep.

I may not have 20/5 vision required to see the degredation of the HD ctream when an SD stream is added to the signal; I'd like to see some classic TV that doesn't pixillate out in the middle of a program (WGBS).

Posted this in the OTA thread but decided to post it here too in case someone doesn't see it over there...

Anyone notice a problem with channel 10?
Every minute or so (usually less) I see a little skip in the picture. I have an HD DVR so I rewind it and slowly step through the frames and at the point of the skip I see a still frame out of order cadence. For example if I watch in slow motion a portion of the video that's fine I see 4 regular frames then 1 copy of the last frame. If I watch where it skipped in slow motion I see maybe 3 frames then a copy of the last frame. After that it goes back to 4 and 1 and it looks normal.
I thought it was a problem on Directv's side but then I also get the problem with it OTA too. Not happening on other local channels.

I hope this makes sense...

The Antenna TV site has been updated; it now claims Antenna TV will appear on WGNT 27-2 in "Mid January."

Or today! Hahaha... It's on right now. The station had a visual ID that I believed stated "WGNT 27.2 Norfolk" which would be incorrect...
