I have had DirecTV since 10/2004 dumping Cox. When FiOS came available, I took their Internet (dumping Cox HSI) but have kept DirecTV. I know I'm paying more than having it bundled but DirecTV was and still is way ahead of Cox and FiOS TV when it comes to their receivers. REALLY like the Whole Home DVR. ALL the receivers are interconnected...

Well you know where my vote is going to go. I would say the Trio system is pretty good & with the TRUE 6 tuner DVR coming soon that is a big plus. HSI speed increases?? wink.gif

What's going on with WVEC's sound? Surround sound is not working properly -- no rear speakers and sub shuts off. Only getting left/right audio. Had this issue with them a couple years ago before I got them to fix it. This is the only channel that does it to me and it does it on both Vz and OTA on more than one TV / Receiver.

Is this throughout the day or during primetime?

They're still doing SD syndication?

Yes. SD during weather crawls and dispute crawls, too. The local news on ABC45 is SD widescreen. It's not even theirs - it's News14 Carolina from Time Warner Cable. I have seen Jimmy Kimmel in SD and other random non-primetime ABC shows in HD. Thank goodness I can get WTVD OTA.

Looks like this thread is pretty quiet. Hopefully someone will see this....

Suddenly, after years with no issues, I cannot get channels 13-1, 13-2, or 13-3. All other local OTA channels are fine. For reference, I'm using an OTA antenna installed in the attic.

I sent an email to WVEC's tech, but got an automatic reply saying they'll be out of the office until October 10th. What?!

Anyone else having problems getting these channels OTA?

No issues here either.

I'm having the same problem. When rain fade wipes out my Directv I switch to OTA. I cannot receive WVEC-13. It used to come in fine but even moving my antenna it is not there. All the other channels come in fine.

I'm in North, Va which is in Mathews County. About 47 miles I think.

I'm a bit closer than you (Hampton), but I checked again this morning and still cannot get it. Again, all the other OTA channels work fine. The cable connections to the TV seem fine; I'll check in the attic as well, but I would think if it were a loose connection issue that I would also have problems with the other OTA channels.

PS - I tried another TV in the house; it does come in on that TV (connected to the same antenna), but the signal strength is low and drops out. Prior to yesterday I had no issues with either TV. frown.gif

UPDATE:

Channel 13 suddenly reappeared today and appears stable. I still have no clue what happened. confused.gif

I did get a response to my email to WVEC saying nothing has changed on their end, ie signal strength.

I see that WVEC is doing a make over on their news set
Does this mean they are finally going to show the news in true HD on Channel 13 now?
I hope they have upgraded the cameras
Aren't they running 16x9 SD currently?

Last I noticed they were still broadcasting the news in SD. I hope they finally upgrade to HD.
