Anyone else not getting the local channels in HD with suddenlink?
mine have been fine all evening.... with the exception of kyle switching back and forth from hd to sd.

And just an fyi if you "moved" to houston you would not have the game at all

That's why I said get the DFW locals. You're right, B/CS is in a pretty good spot. Assuming all our locals are broadcasting in HD, I can get up to six different games on a Sunday afternoon.

I would suspect a bad piece of coax somewhere. A bad cable will cause all sorts of weird things to happen...
I got up in the attic and found out that there was an extra 20' of coax on that jack, so I cut that out and added a signal booster to be sure.

All channels are now crystal clear

Several fringe OTA viewers that were having reception problems with KWKT have contacted us to let us know that receprion is more reliable since we installed the new transmitter. I would appreciate any input from KYLE OTA and Suddenlink viewers whether our HD delivery on KYLE has become more reliable since the installation of the new KWKT transmitter..

I watched most of the Saints/Eagles game yesterday and only had a couple of very minor blips. The HD picture looked great!

If that doesn't work, I will need to purchase a Dolby 5.1 Encoder which would have to be approved at the corporate mangement level.

We shall see

Will the new splicer correct the problem that some HDTVs have decoding the CC on FOX network programming? I, and some others that I have heard about, have been having this problem for some time now. Only happens on
FOX network programming. Other programming originating from the same station, such as local programming and sydicated programming is fine. Just the FOX stuff. Maddening.

was watching bones on OTA 28.1 (kyle-dt ) had over 90% signal

about 15 / 20 min into show I lost lock , I tried 44.1 , same thing

I have the biggest winegard ant they make @ 106' and I am in burleson county

I am getting CBS stations clear as a bell

can you confirm there was a signal lost at that time ?

I get stations from austin / waco / bryan and even some houston stations

but now at this time no FOX stations

it came back , but it is out again
I did a few scans (HDHomerun) and I am getting and watching FOX 51 out of Longview

with a sig of 95 , I am 10 miles north of Caldwell , what is that ? about 300 miles ?
Noticed the same.... it failed about 45 mins in and switched to SD.

btw do we have any suddenlink insiders here? im wondering if suddenlink uses the Copy Control Information (CCI) byte of Copy Freely for media center. with the new quad cablecard tuners from ceton for reasonable prices (rumored) Im thinking about switching back to cable. But I want to be able to copy the shows around and reinstall/upgrade windows over time.

I know fios has their programming open and thats the eventual plan (I will be ready with a quad tuner system for fios) but was gonna use media center for now with suddenlink.
hmm , well something was blocking it for me (kyle) and now I see that I am not able to get KWKT no idea how long that was happening , cause did not notice it until I lost kyle , so keye has been interfering with KWKT .

I have KYLE back now with 97% sig.

I was getting KFXK out of longview last night (>80% sig), but now it's sig is under 50% , that must be a atmospheric thing ?

10/2 Dollhouse FOX audio sync issues with KWKT and KYLE. On KWKT my Dolby Digital 5.1 would not stay locked. KYLE stereo track out of sync too.

Yeah I noticed this sometime Friday night. The same thing was happening during the Cowboy game yesterday as well.

I called KPEJ (Odessa) and KFXK (Longview) this morning and they both reported calls about the same problem.

I had several audio 'blips' during the Cowboys game on KTBC (Fox7) in Austin. I didn't report it as it seems the normal for their broadcast (or it could be my DTVPal HD DVR).

At least it isn't as bad as CBS was a couple of years ago. About a play or so before an 'update' during the football game the sound would go from 5.1 to 2.0 and then resume 5.1 after the update. That was really annoying.

Anyone getting ClearQAM through TWC notice the channel changes?

I had to re-scan to pick up my channels again.

I use QAM w/ TWC in Waco, and I have not had to rescan for my channels since I started using it over a year ago.

Update 10/09/09:

Time Warner rebuit their multiplex attempting to relocated the clear QAM channels to their cable box channels.

In the process several things happened that were not so very good:

All three PBS channels (KWBU) got lost in the 95s.
KWTX-CWHD did not get mapped to 1008 (or anywhere)

A significent number of Explorer HD DVRs (including mine) came up unauthorized.

I have been without cable now for two days after several attempts to reset it from the Austin Office.

They tell me that it may be several more days before they are able to get to my house to replace the DVR.

I went to the office yesterday afternoon and they have no DVRs in stock.

That really sux dude. I must have spoken too soon, as I tried to watch tv last night but had to re-scan for the channels, and they are as you have said. I am able to get the CW network on channel 165. I am also able to get telemundo and some other junk that I wasn't able to get via QAM before. Every now and again I'd get HGTVHD or FoodHD or something like that and it would work for a few minutes to a few hours then go away, but I haven't been able to pick up those channels yet.

Passed by Suddenlink in Bryan their sign says NFL Network coming soon.
Hey everybody,

I live in College Station and have been receiving all the local channels through QAM with my HVR-1800. I went to watch the Florida/LSU game this weekend and noticed that i was no longer receiving KBTX via the QAM signal. I did some poking around and saw that I was also not receiving KAMU. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this. I know that KBTX QAM worked Friday night because Numb3rs recorded fine.

Thanks

That will be a nice one to add but they REALLY need to get comedy central HD before I switch back.

They already have most of the channels I need but I want comedy central for the south park episodes which air in HD now. They add that and the ceton cablecard tuners actually cost $3-400 for a quad tuner and I'll switch back. But to be fair its so I can start using media center for everything again waiting for fios to arrive (since they use the same cablecard tech as the cable companies do)

Fox HD on Suddenlink is not in HD tonight on the Hell's Kitchen season finale, and last night this channel was hicuping.

Both work fine for me.

Is KXXV ever going to go HD on Direct?
What happened to this thread? There was a page 206 last time I looked.

Apparently KMAY (NBC 23) is now broadcasting in digital, although none of the guide data, CC, and the like is there. It is the local 23 feed, and not just a rebroadcast of KCEN (although admittedly, the "local" feed just overlays the "23" bug and show local ads). It's also pretty low-power, about like how FOX 28 was before they upped the power (speaking of which, wasn't that digital microwave link from Waco to Bryan supposed to be installed by now?). I'm gonna need a better antenna to watch NBC without dropouts.

Also, widescreen content (network shows) don't fill the screen like they should. 23-1 is apparently 16:9 1080i, but widescreen shows are windowboxed (letterboxed inside a 4:3 pillarbox). At least 4:3 stuff (like local news) is only pillarboxed, as it should be. I can't receive KCEN 9-1 here, but surely they don't have this problem too?

There's also a 23-2 showing MYTX this TV, whatever that is (presumably it's the same as 9-2).

Now, if only ABC would get on the ball with HD. Given past history, I'm not holding out much hope for that happening any time soon, but I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised!

So I just got a brand new TV and it has a built in HD tuner, so I receive my local OTA HD channels (I'm in College Station). This is awesome, but I'm confused right now...I looked online at lists of the local OTA channels and there aren't many, yet on my TV there are all these weird/random OTA channels past 100.

For example:

Channels 102.1 - 102.47 are music channels (but they dont correspond to suddelink's music channels...at least they're not in the same order)

Channel 115.1 is some PPV channel that either has Jerry Springer uncensored or WWE fights (we just have normal suddenlink expanded basic cable - no PPV or special HD stuff)

Channel 121.5 is HSN

Etc etc. But what confuses me is that these aren't on ANY lists I can find of OTA channels. Whenever I switch to these channels I notice that the display in the top right says 'digital' instead of analog like it does on normal cable channels.

Basically I want to figure out WTF these channels are so I can watch them if something good is coming on! But I cant figure out what they are unless I sit there and go through one by one.

Has anyone else figured this out? 3.1 and 28.1 come in CRYSTAL clear in 1080p, really awesome...what's cool is I didn't even know this TV had a built in antenna!

Anyways, any help is appreciated...thanks!
