This isn't very widely known, but Fox actually delivers 2 hours of paid programming under the name Weekend Marketplace to its stations every Saturday morning. This time was formerly used to broadcast a block of cartoons marketed as 4Kids TV and is typically shown between the hours of 9 and 11 AM Central. So if the infomercial in HD was shown on KVRR and related satellites during this time span, that was actually network programming and not prerecorded like most other infomercials on local stations are.

Ok, that is when I saw it, so it was just a network passthrough

I noticed both last night and this morning ... The news on WDAY was in widescreen. The graphics looked sharp and HD, but the studio shots looked more like SD widescreen.

Anyone else see or heard about this?

I have Dish and also noticed the new wide-screen format on Sunday night and again tonight on WDAY.

Does anyone know if KVNJ-LP is still broadcasting over the air? I saw it listed on the tvfool listing for our area. So I scanned my channels on my tv but it doesn't show up. any ideas why?

KCPM has been off the air in Grand Forks for over a year, so I'm guessing the translators are also

It's licensed as an analog station on channel 2. You'll need both a low-VHF antenna and to try tuning it in an analog mode to see if it's even on the air.

Thanks for the help. I just have the cheapo $20 antenna from monoprice. Do you have a antenna that you would suggest to try to get it tuned in?

Also is anyone having any luck tuning in the Fergus Falls Pioneer channels on 49? It popped up for me when I adjusted my antenna a bit. They seem to come in clearly most of the time for me now.

Don't even bother. KVNJ hasn't been on the air with any regularity for over 7 years. The tower they are supposed to be broadcasting from doesn't even physically exist anymore.

WDAY mentioned the widescreen SD on their 6:00
news and also hinted something big to watch
for in Feburary I'm hoping news in HD

That would be awesome if the "something big to watch for in Feburary" is a full HD newscast.

I will say ... The new HD weather graphics do look amazing.

Just saw an ad on WDAY saying the news will

According to today's Forum they started HD news on 2/20/2012. I haven't watched it yet, but I might check it out tonight.

So I have an issue coming up soon that I could use some help with.

I am moving into a new apartment soon, and would like to take my current provider (Midcontinent) with me, however when I called to transfer service, Midcontinent said they could not service that building for some reason. I am assuming that the reason is Cable One has some kind of damned contract with the owners of the building.

What options do I have to get around this and get Midcontinent installed at my new location? I've already looked at the FCC's website and reviewed their ban on exclusivity contracts, but want as much ammo as possible for this fight because I will not tolerate having Cable One in my household.

Fargo proper is Cable None

outside of that is Midco

MidCo still has to reach an agreement with the owner of the complex for access.

This isn't really HD news, but may be of interest. Fox Sports North added a "plus" channel this year so they can show two events at the same time. It looks like Cable One has finally picked this up on channel 14. SD, analog, but if you need a fix for your Twins/Wild/Wolves, you can try there... Should be showing the Wolves tonight...

Stuck with Cable One until Midcontinent gets an agreement to service my building...

And you know, if Cable One actually added a few more channels and got rid of its ridiculous monthly data cap, it would actually be a pretty darn good service at this point.

And yes I am aware that nothing downloaded between midnight and 8am counts to the cap, but that does not help me when I am a big NHL fan, Cable One does not offer Center Ice, and I'd like to consider ordering the NHL Gamecenter streaming package next year to watch stuff live.

For those of us that have Midco, we've had FSN Plus since about the beginning of the year. It's HD channel 639 on Midco.

(Not trying to rub it in, just letting Midco customers know they have this channel, if they didn't know already)

Just another reason I am SOOOO glad I switched to Midco !!!

And another damned reason I wish my building would hurry up and let Midco offer service here.

Hopefully the city of Fargo can allow a franchise agreement to allow Midco to enter Fargo proper sometime in the decade.

Has anyone heard anything about KCPM? They've been dark for over a year, making it a cable-only station.

I have yet to catch their HD newscast. How does it compare to what WDAY has been doing in HD?
