Fargo, ND - HDTV - Page 65

Thread Starter
Everyone.

I just talked with people at WDAY about having 5.1 Dolby Digital sound instead of just broadcasting a 2.0 signal. The engineers that I talked to said that WDAY is lacking the equipment to properly broadcast the ABC 5.1 signal.

Please send e-mail to mprather@wday.com to ask him to upgrade the WDAY equipment.

Thanks,
Brian

my buddy moved up to Fergus Falls last week and is using an antenna right now until cable gets installed. All he gets is Fox 15 and apparently it sounds like they dont put much into that station outside of network programming. Lots of paid programming

But I'm sure y'all knew that wink.gif

MeTV coming soon to KVLY
(courtesy of northpine)

Me-TV has announced an affiliation agreement with KVLY-TV/11.2 (Fargo) that's set to begin Jan. 1. KVLY, a primary NBC affiliate, will be the first Hoak Media station to carry the classic TV network. ThisTV, a sister network to Me-TV, is currently seen on KVLY/11.2 and it wasn't immediately clear whether This would move to a different channel or be discontinued in the market.

Nice, This is the one channel I was wanting to come to this market

I would think Hoak/Parker would place an additional stream on KXJB to have additional time to sell.....

Looks Like Prairie Public now has MN channel in widescreen SD has anyone seen this
and I saw promos for MeTV on KXJB today looks like monday it will start

I see KVLY/KXJB are now showing Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in HD. I caught part of both Monday, and they looked pretty good.

More of a question than a comment but I was wondering if anyone here would be able to offer a suggestion on getting OTA stations from Fergus Falls? I live in Moorhead near the corner of 40th Ave S and 14th St S. I have been able to pull down the PBS stations from the Fergus area for the last few years with little or no problems with a Monoprice antenna. The channels are 49-1, 49-2, 49-3, and 49-4. The last few months the signal has been hardly usable if anything comes in at all. So I was wondering if anyone knows if there has been any changes to their transmission signal or if I just need to switch to a different antenna.
I know this is a bit out of our area but I figure it is at least worth a ask here. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can give.

There might be an issue with the transmitter as my buddy lives in Fergus proper and can't get ti right now either.....use to get it fine with an indoor antenna

I posted to Pioneer Public's Facebook page asking about it -- watch that page to see if they respond.

Wow, cool thanks for doing that! I will keep a eye out for it.

I'm not hopeful for a response there -- sometimes I feel the Facebook "presence" of organizations is handled primarily by whatever intern happens to be there that month. :-)

Caught the very beginning of the Fargo north / Detroit Lakes football game on WDAY 6-3 Friday night. Wow was it over compressed!! Lots of digital artifacting!! I was watching on Midcontinent, so not sure if it was them or WDAY.

I'd post it in the Tube TV forum, and there's also a classifieds forum somewhere here on AVS:

Yeah, I thought about that, but I'm really not interested in shipping for obvious reasons... Just wanted to offer it here in case I could make some's day locally. I think I've talked myself into keeping it however - just have to figure out how to get it down the basement eek.gif

Well it would be a way to reach potential interested buyers if you decide to sell it. It's been a long time since i cruised the Tube TV forum but i remember some of those guys driving a hundred miles to snag a good used Tube TV after they were discontinued wink.gif

Edit - found the Tube TV Classifieds forum:

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can find it nowhere online OR on CableOne's site (imagine that). I also tried calling CableOne two different times talking to 4 different people...still came up empty. The situation/question is this:
* We have CableOne's commercial cable package at our office
* We have a coax cable plugged directly into the back of our HDTV (we have no set-top box from Cableone)
* We used the Scan feature to add the channels via the tuner
* We now have HUNDREDS of channels in the list, many of which are black or not used...but also a good number that do in fact have a channel/video
* The question/problem is this...WHAT THE $(@! is the channel list/lineup in this scenario?

We can find the channel lineup for the normal set-top box, but these channels are different. For example, 67.2 is KVLY, 67.3 is CBS, and 64.3 is WDAY. However, there are probably hundred of other digital channels the tuner added in the 63.x-90.y range and we have NO idea what channels are what (and it would take a long time to map them out manually). Does anyone have a list of what these channels are? It is beyond me how CableOne can't provide this to us, but then again nothing surprises me about what CableOne is unable to do.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...
