That's exactly where I was going to put mine. What store/mall, I can call and pay in advance, so you would just have to pick-up. What's your last name Dennis? Wait, let me guess, could it be Wynne?

Question for anyone who can help?

We plan on getting a Digital Converter Box when I get my coupons probably the Zenith or Insignia and was wondering if we will still be able to pick up the Nashville stations mostly WKRN, WSMV & WTVF. We live on the Cumberland Plateau about halfway between McMinnville & Chattanooga and have been getting Nashville stations for years as clear as the Chattanooga stations when we had a good antenna. Don't know the make and models but we had two antennas, one pointing toward Nashville the other toward Chattanooga but wind and a pesky tree branch has all but destroyed them a few years back and now we only get 2, 4 ,5 depending on how the wind blows Chattanooga is not much better. We have DirecTV so we really weren't in any hurry in getting a new antenna. However we still use OTA for local networks i.e. NBC, CBS etc.. we did finally get one but have not got it put up yet and I don't know the make and model my dad picked it up but its one of those big $100 models from Radio Shack. Do you think one of those would do for both directions or should we point one in the other direction? The antenna would be raised around 30 ft.

Yeah! 48 out of Huntsville has always been a problem even when strictly using their analog signal......it was and is iffy at best

One really odd thing is that the APT station signals are even lower on my receiver than 48 but they have a vastly stronger digital picture 48 blocks out and completely goes away. At one time 48 was coming in at 80% now it hovers around 30 to 40% the APT stations are coming in at 50% and are steady. All the other stations I receive are around the 95 to 97% signal strength I pick up ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX,ION,TRINITY,CW,WAMY that's plenty to watch.........

WHIQ had a catastrophic antenna failure a few weeks back and are using a temp setup. Supposed to be fixed in late March. I can aim at Florence and get WFIQ when theres something I want to see really badly

Sure is fun being in two different viewing areas.

I too have lost channel 5 in MCE2005. Have they changed the antenna direction or something. Guess its time for a reformat anyway. I will try my vista laptop to see if I can tune it in first.

Since channel 30 is only transmitting on 30-1 now my problem of losing video signal has begun again at certian times it will show no signal for just a second it does mostly in primetime. It didn't do it on the 30-2 channel.
It does this on my db-2010 haven't noticed it on my panasonic and magnavox tuners....

Any one else having problems with channel 30?

I am begining to dread when the changeover occurs there is no telling what kind of signal problems any of us will have no matter what brand type or age of tuners we have....

It look like channel 5 has a better signal last week it at 80% in my area now it is back to around 95% also way blown away at one point with thier audio again.....

It is like a blast from the past - before cable TV and sat TV when all you had was OTA and antenna and atmospheric issues .

Maybe Randolph and Rice can sell a "Nashville special" antenna array again that has single channel antenna for each of the Nashville locals......

I haven't been able to get WSMV (channel 4/10) the last two nights. Are they having problems? I'm using a Samsung t-165 stb.

Thanks,

No problems using my HDTivo and channel 10 VHF Yagi, but I live a lot closer to the station than you do - I guess.

I use both a 4228 UHF only and a U/V yagi to receive WSMV's digital signal on channel 10. I've had no loss of signal using the tuner on my Sony TV or through the DirecTiVo Hr10-250 or the DirecTV HR20-700.

Thanks for the feedback guys I will test this later today (hopefully) and I'll report back.

Thanks

Edit: I think I found an easier way (at least in Windows Vista MCE) to fix the bad channel data.
I believe a person can just go into the "Tasks" - Settings - TV Guide and go into the Add missing Chanel then delete the 1051 (Digital 5) that is not working and then added it back on 56. I have not tested this but these are the steps I took after editing the files below.

I know this is the OTA forum, but I don't have access to Nashville OTA and get the HD locals through Dish. Have you guys noticed a horizontal line right across the middle of the screen during American Idol the past two weeks on WZTV?
It looked ok here, and I watched about half of Idol the last two weeks. Has this happened before? If you see it again, you might try rebooting the receiver to see if it clears up.

Channel 4 last night missing on my panasonic tuner was ok on db-2010 receiver was ok on magnavox receiver

Anyone else have a problem with WSMV on any of their receivers?

Problem fixed I rescanned my channels and channel 4 is viewable at 96% previously 0%

It has been on the last 4 episodes.

Have already done the reboot. Mayber it is a Dish issue.

Strange, it was doing it during Seinfeld last night. Didn't notice it on any other channels.
Is anyone seeing the same thing I am on channel 28 watching the feud the video is smearing at different times audio glitching occasionally I have a 97% signal???

What kind of programming lineup do they have anyway it seems like they have access to some ok shows but they play them night after night after night where they should just spread them out to a one night slot

Last week in the 9pm slot they played the heck out of baywatch now this week it's quantum leap

Geeez!

Was anybody up at 2am last night (Saturday Morninig), because if you was not then you missed out on trying for digital channel 5, not 56, 5!!!!!! I was about to go to bed at little after 1am, and I had noticed that analog 5 and digital 56 was both off the air. I read somewhere that they might test digital 5. I waited up awhile to see if that was what they were doing, and sure enough, at about 2am, they started broadcasting channel 5 digitally. If I am right, they broadcasted it at 10.3kw. I got it at a whopping 100%. I have one of the two biggest RS VHF/UHF antennas, and I live about 50-60 miles from Nashville. I am going to e-mail the NC5 Engineer and ask if he will test it again in the future. I'll post his reply.

Missed it but saw the evidence on my db-2010, Channel 5 wasn't coming in this morning (or so I thought) Checked other receivers and they were fine. Finally looked deeper into the channel list and there were 2 5-1 s WTVF-HD

If you get hold of engineering let us know if they decide to do it again. I live 50 miles south of Nashville and am curious about how strong a signal I can receive.

And on the same type subject different channel

What kind of audio are you receiving from CW 58? The surround sound is very good (separation) but the volume is nothing like it was before they changed studio facilities earlier this week

Thanks for your report and making my day! You are the first person I know of who saw digital 5. Your report is very encouraging. We didn't know right up until that night that we'd actually have the equipment ready. Our ERP was 10.3KW. As of now don't know when more testing will be done but I want it to be soon. Have a great day and I'll stay in touch.

I live in southern KY and I watch several Nashville stations and I have an HD tv on an antenna. On channel 5, It has been saying for the station ID, instead of WTVF in my guide, it says NET1 or NET9 or NET 13, the signal is coming in as an analog one, does 5-1 stay on all the time? When I program and reset stations, I have never gotten it yet, only 2-1, 4-1, 13-1,2,3 and 40-1,2. I am just wondering if I will be able to get it here when the switch is final. 5 is one of the strongest signals we have here north of Bowling Green.

At this time, they're not digitally broadcasting on channel 5. It was just a test late one night. If he happens to e-mail me and lets me know of another test, I will post it on here as soon as possible.

By the way, channel 8 (WNPT) sometime this month will also be testing their digital channel 8, if they haven't already. I might e-mail them and ask when they are going to do that. If they reply, I'll post it on here.

5-1 is on UHF 56 and they are (or were) running full allowed power. If you can't get it now, then you may need a better antenna or simply just wait until they move the digital signal down to VHF 5 which will be done on or before the Feb 17, 2009 deadline.

Let us know if you find out anything about the 8 test, I am curious to see how that comes in for me with my current antenna setup. I am sure 5-1 will boom in so am not worried about that one.

Dennis

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it, I will keep an eye on the forum and if they test I will be waiting for the signal. I also get 30 and like tonight, I am getting 30-1 and 30-2, when I normally get only analog 30, and it is not on tonight.
Alert!!!!! Alert!!!!! Alert!!!!!

It's 12:48am.

Analog 5 and Digital 56 are off the air right now.

Digital 5 is not broadcasting at this moment.

I'll keep updating.
