Seriously, doesn't your STB already think WTVF's digital signal is on channel 5? (or are you on Comcast?) The DTV standard allows each station to transmit its own "major channel", which your OTA STB maps to the station's actual RF channel number. This mapping database is set up when you run your STB's setup routine & scan the channels.
So, for example, your box knows when you punch up channel 5 it should tune to RF channel 56.
If WTVF-DT were to move to RF channel 15, it would disappear from your STB - you'd punch up channel 5, the STB would look for a signal on RF channel 56, find nothing, and tell you WTVF was off the air. You'd then rescan, and your STB would update the database. Now, you'd punch up channel 5 and instead of looking on RF channel 56 it would look on RF channel 15.
(in fact, something similar recently happened in Indianapolis, where the WB station moved their DTV operation from RF channel 53 to RF channel 48. The "major channel" punched up on one's STB remained 4.)
My Hauppauge PC tuner card doesn't support this automatic remapping - I have to punch in "56" to get WTVF - but it's the only consumer DTV receiver I know of that lacks this ability.
