I will pass along, jamie. Question for you, is it only during CBS HD programming? Or do you notice it during CBS SD as well? I watched Big Brother tonight and didn't notice it.

Ironically, a power surge is what killed the audio encoder for CBS that had to be replaced last time. Now, the CW is out... I'm kinda getting tired of the power surges and I don't even work with the equipment engineering does... Imagine how they feel.

Eastern, I believe the problem is only occurring during HD programming, and it doesn't have to be in Dolby 5.1 like with Y & R.

Ive mainly noticed during non local programming, (CBS) Ill monitor for the next little while and see if I hear it during the noon news.

Did'nt notice any audio issues during the noon news, but as soon as the CBS feed kicked in at 12:30, the the bad audio started.
I picked up on that as well Jamie. It sounds like they are sending audio to my home via a string with a cup on their end of it, and a cup at my end! LMAO (sort of like a hollow sound and garbled at times)

Just got in from Raleigh, went to see WWE Raw at the RBC Center, great show, sat behind the production crew and it was awesome watching them control all the lights, music, pyro. Real hi-tech equipment. Large HD video screen was super clear.
Walked in the building and was given free passes to the upper level, Lexus club, pre raw reception, free food and drinks. Very fancy area, LCD tv's mounted all over the club, all the ESPN HD channels, were being shown.
Great trip.

The CW is back on the air, Directv's feed came up a couple of hours later.

Alot of audio skips today on WNCT-DT.

The audio encoder for 9.1 is being rebooted today. If you have a chance, listen tonight and see if you hear the problem.

Yes, I heard it too. Well, that's one piece of equipment to cross off the list.

Well, as I indicated in an earlier post, my Dish Network DTV Pal certainly picks up quite a few channels (and shows programming info for PBS 25 with no need to use the TV Guide option). However, after noticing that the timer feature wasn't coming on when I indicated, I discovered that the unit's time was set wrong (hour early). Problem is, you can't set the time. You simply give the unit which time zone you're in, and whether you're currently in daylight savings time. That's it!

It turns out, the DTV Pal gets its time from the TV channel you're tuned to. I've tuned to NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS with this box (can't get ABC with the rabbit ears at this point). I'm not sure who's clock is wrong, but it always seems to be 1 hour off. There is no manual time set feature. So I have to set the timer for the unit to come on in the mornings 1 hour early and pray that the stations don't adjust their time!

Elsewhere on AVS, it seems I'm not alone. A lengthy discussion is ongoing with the glitches of this device. The time setting feature is the biggie. There is no real way to update the software on these boxes. I just hope the locals can set their clocks correctly so that devices like these will be set properly. I also hope Dish will take my boxes back and send less-buggy ones with manual time set!

Anyone else getting signal drops on WITN-DT.
Im getting a 90-95% signal and every now and then it drops to 0% for a split second.

jamieh1, well, after going through about 20 links in the chain, it looks like engineering found the source of the audio problem. We expect the problem to be fixed tomorrow or friday depending on how fast CBS can get the equipment to us. Thanks for beating the drum on this one.

No problem thats what we are hear for. Glad that you guys found the problem.

IIRC, they were here a month or so ago, but I'm not sure if that's what they were working on. I'll ask and see if anyone knows.

Eastern,

When you see Bertie and the crew there, tell them that the HD group on here really appreciate all the time they take to check out the problems we pick up on and post. I know it must have taken several hours for them to go through all that equipment to find this one little glitch. I try not to jump to conclusions when I notice something, and give it time before I jump on the board and say there is a real problem. Things sometimes work themselves out, but in this case it went on for a while. It's good though if we can to get all the little bugs figured out before everyone starts turning digital, because they will have their hands full with all kinds of questions there I bet.

Ken must be working really diligently on his control panel still. We haven't seen him post for quite sometime.

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

according to the info channel on suddenlink they will be adding all those HD channels you listed plus Chiller on channel 216.

Any more word on this? Rumor was they would be adding them on 7/1, but it never seemed to happen.

What are the channel numbers for you for Sci-Fi HD or FX HD? They aren't showing up anywhere on my guide (the HD channels are in the 700's).

I have not seen these channels either. I just did a reboot on my cable box and still don't have them. I am on Suddenlink from Greenville.

Those channels aren't showing up at my place either (Suddenlink in Greenville). I guess they have more bandwidth available in La Grange than Greenville? Very odd. I might have to give them a call. FX and Sci-Fi definitely have some good shows, plus USA will be part of NBC's Olympics coverage next month, which would be great to have more of in HD (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olymp...schedule_N.htm)

EDIT: If you go to suddenlink.com and type in La Grange's zip (28551), 718-720 do show up in the HD BASIC channel line-up, but they don't when you put in Greenville's (27834). Oh well.

Well, the saga continues with the Dish Network DTV Pal (analog to digital converter with timer and program guide). It turns out, the device gets its time from digital stations it tunes to. When I set a timer on the DTV Pal to turn itself on at a specific time, etc., it relies on the time that it is given by the digital TV channel it is tuned to.

WITN-DT's PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) clock is 1 hour off, based on what my device is receiving. Other channels in the area seem to be sending the accurate time. WITN is not the only one with this problem, based on comments in the very hot AVS Dish DTV Pal forum. I suspect this issue will get worse as more people start buying these converter boxes that pull the same info and have timers.

I hope someone from WITN checks this forum and is able to adjust their clock ASAP. I believe that in 2005, the FCC required PSIP for all off-the-air digital broadcasts, and requires the clock be accurate.

Anyone else not getting WRAL's 5.2? It seems to have completely gone for me.

The 'Raleigh, NC - HDTV' Thread has had some chatter over there about overall issues with WRAL OTA over the past day or so. Maybe someone over there might make contact with 'RAL about this issue and have something to report.
