You need to block out WNCT and WCTI with some sort of filter. That's quite complicated. If you seriously want 11, I'd go to the HD technical section and let those who have done this kind of thing before give some advice. smile.gif

Ehh. WNCT is no big loss but I really like WCTI's news and weather. I guess it's not really worth it.

I don't know why I never thought about that before mad.gif

Oh, Dominic Brown's last day at WCTI was yesterday. Good luck from us viewers on AVS Dominic! I know he must have been there 10 yrs... Did good work during severe weather.

WCTI has activated SAP function. No other in the market has it yet, so if you get no sound, push the MTS/SAP button on your remote, or the Audio Button to turn to channel 1 Stereo

The Heat has brought in tons of distant signals tonight.

I'm getting WFXB out of Myrtle Beach here in Wilson. WFXB must be the big signal down there. I usually get them before before any other station in that area, including Wilmington.

Anyone else having problems with WRAL lately? Signal fluctuates and goes out completely sometimes.

Four or five nights ago, WRAL went out completely for me for about ten minutes.

After that, the TV's tuner would pick up the signal, but it took it a while to lock in the signal.

I have not noticed any problems since then, though.

Anyone having issues with WCTI 12 freezing sometimes on Directv? I am no longer on D* but a friend said she was having the problem. I have since moved to Warner for cable HD after the storm broke my equipment for satellite. I can't tell much if any difference, other than the channel positions being different. I lost an HDMI input on one tv thanks to lightning.mad.gif

I like the way WFXI HD stays in HD with the storm alerts. They just drop the digital sound and it allows the message to run without ruining the picture. I guess this is what all channels do. WSFX still does not know how to do it. I think they have stopped doing the warnings all together.

WCITI and WYDO take direct lightning strike during 5:30 weather segment tonight. It took nearly a half hour to get the station back on with a radar on screen as anchors talked in the background. After the strike happened, all I could see was a black screen with the blue weather racer jumping from top to bottom across he screen.eek.gif

Lightning will ruin electronics fast.

Must not have a station UPS.

Apparently the lightning hit their tower according to a facebook post Skip made. He said something about the guy wires should take the strike into the ground, but that doesn't sound like a good grounding method to me? Seems to me that the tower should have huge rods driven in the earth around the base of the tower, and have thick copper wire connected from the tower to those, and each rod bonded together, but I am just guessing... I am no electrician, or I wouldn't have my own lightning issues.rolleyes.gif hahahaha

Sitting in the ENG room at WBTV once when lightning hit the STL tower out back and came in... I think there is still a dent in the ceiling where I came up and out of the chair...eek.gif

I've seen that same thing happen to them before, but it was a power outage that caused it. Vertical sync went wacky for half an hour or so.
I hate when they go off during bad weather. NOBODY in this area can cover the counties as efficiently as Skip. He makes the others look like they are all running in slow motion. Everyone who brings up storms says they watch 12 when the weather goes bad around here.

Since I'm on TWC, I can tell you to turn to 1520 and 1521 for HD olympics. 1333 is 3D if you have it...

Also on or near July 31st, TV LAND HD will be on 1216.

More MTV HD music channels will also become available. I'd have to look up those channels, since I can't just add a 1 in front of them since they don't exist in SD.

I can honestly say that I don't miss my dish TV yet, and the signal doesn't go out during Severe T-Storms.

MTV hits 452 and MTV jams 457 are now up in Standard def on Warner cable.

TV land HD and MTV 2 HD are now up as well in the guide. They have been on the air for a couple of days if you entered the channel directly. So I have a lot more HD right now than I had on Directv....eek.gif

So far, I have only gotten the channel not available message 1 time with the switch digital video.

Directv adding 5 new HD channels

Directv has 5 new HD channels up in testing.

BBC America HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
Disney Jr HD
Ion East HD
BeIN sports HD

These channels could launch as soon as next Wednesday.

Directv recently added E! HD and TCM HD
Get everything but BeIn sports as of now. All I missing is HDNet. Also Fear HD is available, but I do not subscribe to it, although it looks like it would be good. Too many channels, not enough time, and not paying anymore either for another package.smile.gif. Warner also charges believe it or not for a "Program Guide" and for a handheld remote!

HDNet has changed to AXS TV. Mark Cuban has partnered with AEG Live, and Ryan Seacreast and changed HDNET to AXSTV HD.

I made a fast decision after my D* equipment went down after a lightning strike in a neighbors tree. Cable has come a LONG way from what it was when I last had it back in the late 90's. Also if lightning hits it, they will take care of it, where as with D*, they will charge you. I did not pay the $5 a month protection because it is stupid. Switching is easier.

Did you call Directv and see if they would cover it for free? I have always had good things come from Directv customer service and they seem to waive any fees and love to throw credits my way also. Maybe I just have good luck with them?

Jsp, does TW offer all the Greenville-New Bern and Wilmington channels and are they in HD? In Wilson TW carries all the Triangle stations in HD, but only carries WITN and WNCT in crappy SD only.

G-Vegas Caniac,

I did talk to D* and apparently they are cutting corners now. They didn't offer me anything this time around. Doesn't matter. I get more now than I did with them, and the price is no higher.

Retspin,

Yes I can watch all the channels except BOUNCE out of this market, (some aren't on analog tier, like WITN 2, CW 9.2 and the UNC subs) but they are all there on digital. No digital subs from Wilmington, and no HD from Wilmington. Also no WILM LD, but their signal does not reach Onslow, howerver I am told it is on Charter cable.

Lost WNCT channel 9 at 8:41pm this evening. Any outage or is the signal just too week to reach my here in Winterville NC? I'm still receiving Channel 7,12,14, and 25.

WNCT had posted earlier they were having issues. They said they were streaming the news online. Started today during Dr.Phil. My signal has been in and out.
