The sound is not right during this basketball game. No rear surrounds. They are dead. I wonder if it is due to a different satellite they are picking up some of the CBS feeds on?

Surprised no one noticed that apparently Directv now has The CW in HD.

Still no surround sound on 9.1 last night.

When will WITN start HD news?

What is the latest on when Tutt will go live?

I had a chance to check out Centurylinks Prism TV recently, and I was impressed. Please bring this service to our area!! The HD 720p channels like ESPN look very sharp. They have tons of HD channels. The only ones they didn't have that I have now were TV land HD and BBC America HD. They have HD Net HD Net Movies, Univeral HD included with their lineup for no extra. The most impressive feature is when you change channels, there is NO LAG. The next channel loads instantly. The box they give has tons of interactive content and on demand. You can watch 4 shows at once, 2 shows. Wireless delivery, facebook on tv, gas prices, and a news crawl by choosing dashboard.

Those are some good questions. WiTN is coming along. I've rode by there recently and you can see the news desk in the window. It has flat screen TVs behind it bordered on each side with frosted divided panels. They both have the peacock etched on them to divide that area from the news room. One of the cameras was installed. I remember reading on here that the cameras might be robotic. As i said on here before, the green weather wall is an infinity one, floor to ceiling, so Marvin and the gang can be entirely in the weather map shot like the Weather Channel. I've been wanting to get a picture but every time I ride by there, the lights are off. mad.gif I cant wait for them to get HD news up and running!

I have seen Prism in Wilson and it does look quite good. I only gripe about it is that they don't have any stations for down east on it. Maybe they will add them later since they are on all the local cable systems in the area.

They give you a whole home DVR, and a second tuner box, but each one after that is $9. Still cheaper than TWC. I was also impressed with how good the Standard def channels appeared. I guess they can't carry our area stations in Central NC, since they don't currently offer service and have a receive facility here.

The rears are working tonight! I seriously hope they are here to stay. Jokes aside I switched to channel NINE form seven. I was getting ready to watch CSI Vegas. In a sort of an optimistic way I pressed the DD button of my Onkyo AVR followed by checking the rear surround sound speakers. Voila, OMG they are engaged and working. YES, the DD 5.1 is working. How about "those" cowboys(!)?
Please channel nine do NOT mess it up. I am looking forward to watch Person Of Interest and Elementary in DD 5.1 tomorrow night!
Thank you channel nine~~~

It seems like the DD 5.1 joy was short lived. I am also confused. Several commercials appear to have the DD 5.1 sound while the live NCAA BT broadcast the rears are silent again. I hope you engineers have an explanation. I give-up.eek.gif

I'm not sure they are all religious or not?

Also it appears that channel 21 transmitter will be on the WSFL FM tower south of Trenton on the maps I have looked at. This means poor coverage in the northern areas, so you won't be seeing it up that way.

Sir, with ALL due respect I looked at the TV guide and it listed a religious content for the next 24 hours. That is a an objective observation NOT a biased one, thank you.

We don't have any engineers with us on this forum. I guess they have a lot of work to do beside argue with viewers who don't know how to take their information without finding something wrong with the message they are passing along...

On your previous comment, I was not saying you were wrong, maybe I don't consider country music "religious". I'm not here to criticize anyone's beliefs, just to talk about HDTV.

The TV guide shows 21-1, 21-2 having religious programming during the next 24 hours.

I'm not able to pick up a signal. The TV guide on your TV set?
The WSFL tower is a bad location for a TV transmitter in my opinion. It's 12's old tower and they had a lousy signal in those days. They had a great signal when they built the 2000 ft tower though. Also, WRNS is on the 2000 ft tower and is solid here in Wilson, but WSFL is not, it is very weak here, and both are 100 kw.

I've been at both towers, and the WCTI tower is up on a hill too, which helps them get way out to all of eastern and east central NC. The WSFL tower is short 800 ft and back in the woods. Didn't WCTI build it's current tower in the early 1980's? Wikipedia says the original tower was at the station itself, but that can't be right. WNCT is the one who's tower was at the station originally. Their signal got out real good from there though.

12 has a history page on their website. They did indeed transmit from a tower at the studios when they first went on the air. I don't know when they built the first Trenton tower site, but the website states that they moved to the 2000 ft tower in 1981. 9 had the shortest tower of them all, 787 ft if my memory is correct. When they moved to Grifton, the slogan was " Double the Tower, Double the Power!"

Here's a link to the WCTI history page: http://www.wcti12.com/-/13530288/14589034/-/ciposhz/-/index.html

Not quite sure what guide you are looking at for the stations that don't yet exist, but I can promise you that TNN is not a "religious" station. It airs religious content on Sunday mornings just like 7-2, 9-1, and 9-2 do.

what will witn do with thei doppler radar at the old studio you think?

I saw Phillip using the radar map this morning at 5 am, but the beam wasn't on.
WRAL has theirs at the transmitter. That may be a possibility, although the tower in Grifton doesn't have much space around it. If memory serves me right they have cows grazing some of the area where the guy anchors are.

I would assume it's so outdated at this point that it may not be worth keeping, especially if they don't even run it all the time.
