I would assume it's so outdated at this point that it may not be worth keeping, especially if they don't even run it all the time.

I,m thinking u may be right about it being outdated.

No dolby on Wfxi. wsfx yes.

They still don't have a splicer device on 14 I guess. I checked again later on WFXI (cable signal) and they had turned the dolby on again.

Tonight 9-1 sounds bad to me, but 9-2 sounds much better than it ever has. Still has some slight dialog in the rear at times, but it might be the movie.

Didn't DirecTV do this nationally a few months ago?

D* informed of ION CH 38 when I called them about something else last Saturday.
Directv added the national east-coast feed of ION (ch. 305) in HD. Local IONs are hit or miss in HD. Raleigh and now Greenville are HD for example, but my ION (WGPX Burlington for the Greensboro DMA) is not HD on Directv. I have it in HD on Directv via the AM21 tuner. I

ION CH 305 had been in HD at least the last two months. I know because I had been watching NUMB3RS late at night(0100-0300). Unfortunately DD 5.1 is not available. Furthermore the West feed ION CH 306 is NOT in HD.

We've had the national feed for several months. They just virtually mapped it to channel 49 (our local ION station). Can also be seen on 305 as you mentioned...

My first sentence was incomplete.. I meant to say:

Directv added the national east-coast feed of ION (ch. 305) in HD in the first round of the HD additions they gave is last year.

Does the HD Ion that appears on ch 38 or 47 have the hourly ID's?

Suddenlink still hasn't added the HD feed for CW 9.2 yet. Figured they would have by now.

My understanding is that if Directv has the actual ION feed from a local market in the local package they are not adding the HD feed to the locals package. Like the Greenville NC and Ral NC market its not the actual WEPX or WRPX feed of ion being shown, show they are remapping the national ION feed to the local #.

Dont know whats taking suddenlink so long to add CW HD. I have a friend that works for Suddenlink in Greenville and he says no plans as of yet.

NO WNCT HD CW 9.2 here in Time Warner land either. Their agreement with WNCT is running out as I understand it, so maybe once they renew their contract, they will be able to carry HD then?

Interesting. The SD Ion used for WGPX does have the WGPX ID's so I guess we won't see it HD (without the AM21) and will just have to use ch. 305.

I think your right. There are some ION stations out there that do local programming/sports and those DirecTV customers won't be able to see it (unless using an AM21)...

Wow. I replaced the original coax today on my antenna. 1998. No I get much more, and stronger Sig. Like I used to. Get channels on towers from Marion, dillion, garner, fox 50, which is the hardest for me as a rule.

Very happy!!! The Wingate 8800 is working like it used to.

What brand of cable? RG6 regular or quad shield? And preamp?
Chan master RG-6 and the low gain winegard pre amp.

Are you using the black and red or the blue and black connectors? BTW I'd just bought the wire stripper and the crimping tool.

I use gold ends. I blew up my pre-amp though after only one day of rewiring... Don't understand why the vhf side went dead. I need a new amp now.
If you are using crimp connectors, you will never truly get a good connection. Compression connectors are the way to go. Lowe's sells some decent compression tools for occasional use.
I bought the compression tool for BNC, RCA and F connectors. It's designed for the RG6 and RG59 cable compression fittings. It's very easy to use. After you strip the cable you slide it in with the connector you compress it as you make a fist with the tool wrapped in your hand.

It's the Winegard 8700 amp that is my problem with 9 and 12. VHF is dead. UHF works fine. I replaced everything possible and no change. So I got 4 months out of this amp. I got more time out of the antennacraft..... Cheap Chinese junk. I did unplug the power before I started taking things apart, in case anyone might be thinking I forgot.smile.gif It worked great the first day like i said above, and then I started having the problem.

SHould I try the channel master next or the RCA? biggrin.gif
post #8666 of 9110
In regard to the pre-amp not passing VHF, I got a couple of UHF/VHF combiners with power passing UHF and just bypassed the amp altogether on VHF. Everything works fine now. I just lost a little signal on the VHF channels, but no issues with dropouts. The Winegard HD 8800 UHF does just fine at 42 miles from Grifton. smile.gif I get 55% signal on WNCT. WCTI I get 68%.
I use the Radioshack UHF/VHF signal combiner which passes power on UHF. Works great, as the Holland and Pico versions only pass power on VHF.

Any comments about the local news anchors?
I wonder what's going on over at FOX? I see they've changed their logo down in the right corner. I like this one better though I think. The logo on 14 is off the screen some on my TV
