Greenville, NC - HDTV - Page 290

On WITN's Facebook this morning:

"As we move a few steps closer to going live from our brand new Greenville Studio, Heather and Jim bid farewell to their home of many years. Do you have a favorite Sunrise Show memory?"

Looks like it won't be long now. I'll have to start watching. WITN NEWS HD! Today, Friday or Monday?

Boy that place is a piece. I know they're happy to be movin' on up.

I have seen a new HD time/temp bug on screen. It is the current logo but looks like they are getting a new package when they go HD.

I heard that WCTI is moving their Greenville bureau in Winterville to the old WITN Greenville studio on Arlington.

I heard it will be HD tomorrow morning.

I actually saw Alize Proisy earlier in town, and was going to go up and ask her about the HD, but she was eating lunch and already talking to a couple of people, so I didn't want to be rude.

Im told its gonna be June. Plus they also showed a sneak peek this morning on the Sunrise show. The studio still had alot of boxes in the studio.
Also Heather King said that they will be moving to the Washington studio for a short time.

That sounds right. I just watched the sneak peek video on WITN's Facebook page. They've still got a ways to go, but it looks awesome!

WWAY TV has had this for a few weeks now. They got a complete studio make--over. I am surprised no one has mentioned it. It looks wild. You can see the weatherman's shoes!

We have been doing walk on weather for years. When we went HD 3 years ago we extended the walk on area quite a bit and we had to design some of the maps that they look like the bottom of the map is flat horizontal and the upper part is vertical. Neat effect.

WTMH-LD Channel 21 Kinston is on the air with a station ID screen this morning. Signal is very low at my location. (1-2 bars on my Samsung tv)
Ivegot 21 strong at 70%
I am getting full signal on all Greenville/New Bern stations, yet can't even get a signal lock on WTMH 21. I guess it is because the ch. 21 tower is so short, combined with the fact that my elevation here in Hubert is only 15 feet??? All of these stations are roughly the same direction from here so I doubt re-aiming my uhf antenna would be necessary.

What kind of UHF antenna is it? If you want to improve on this channel, you may have to try a different antenna tuned for lower frequencies like the one I have. A lot of the older UHF's were tuned for upper channels that no longer even exist.

How is the WSFL FM 106/5 signal where you are?

The uhf antenna is an older medium sized Antennacraft yagi.......don't recall the model #. Been used in my attic for years, but only outside exposed to the elements now for about 3 years. Like I said, pulls full signal on all Greenville/New Bern locals. I have separate vhf antennas, one for 12and 9, and one for 8. They combine through a channel 8 jointenna, then combine with the uhf antenna at my Channel Master 7777 amp. I would try re-aiming , but right now I receive WPXU at full locked signal off of the side of this antenna. It took me a while to tweak it just right for that. By the way, 106.5 WSFL is one of my very strongest fm signals.

Hard to say what the best approach might be... Moving it just slightly might fix it, but then it will probably screw up something else as you point out. I know that when I took the VHF channels off my pre-amp and skipped it with the two radio shack band separators/combiners, my UHF signal went up a bit on most channels. I think some of these cell towers and radio stations have a lot to do with TV reception too.

The channel 21 signal is about 20% less on my meter than WYDO and WUNM on the tower just up the road from WSFL's

Amazingly while I'm thinking about it, the PBS station on 23 out of Farmville comes in just about as strong as WITN and it is on a shorter tower and much further away. Whoever picked that location for a tower did a good job.

Gannon Medwick is leaving WNCT to become the chief meteorologist at WECT/Wilmington. Last day is May 24th. Congrats to Gannon!

It is back on the air this morning. The main channel is only 480i.
WTMH is now in hd...When does news start?
I can't see it, at least not without going in the attic and turning my antenna. I get WYDO fine though. I'll have to try it on the omnidirectional at work.

I'm assuming they don't plan to target Greenville, which is weird, but I don't see why else they put an LD all the way down in Trenton.
On their id the first city was Greenville. I thought that was odd. Their signal in that area is weak.

WITN has a new studio in Downtown Washington. It is on mainstreet. Dave Jordan showed it last night on the news.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this - WCTI is doing live shots in HD now.
