Jackson / Meridian, MS - HDTV - Page 63

Saw that yesterday. Nice to see them FINALLY attempt to organize the channels in a way that makes sense. Group the sports channels together, the cable networks, the movie channels, the discovery channels, the cooking channels, etc.

That's a very positive start. Now - let's get some new programming.

I have always been able to pick up WLBT here in Lincoln County, even when some of the other stations would not pick up, but last night I was unable to get it. Have they reduced power or something?

Hey Richard, do you have any new information on this?
Ruthie,

If you are referring to the fate of the CW network and WLOO, here is the latest:

Based on guide information from WJTV subchannel 12.2 (which used to be the Weather Radar channel), CW shows will be airing in the 7-9pm block, although they have not yet started broadcasting CW programming. In addition, the Over the air digital channels contain embedded information with the names of each subchannel. For WJTV, these names are blank, which indicates to me that a change in the subchannel lineup is coming, possibly this weekend, since it is the start of a new month.

Given this information, it appears that WJTV will carry CW on a subchannel. However, no official announcement has yet been made either by the CW network or WJTV. I suspect an official announcement will be made within a few days.

The hope is that subchannel 12.3 is being removed and that 12.2 will be broadcast in 720p HD, but that is PURE speculation on my part.

Thank you for answering! Yes, that's exactly what I was asking about, guess I should have been more specific. How will I be able to access that channel through Comcast? Will I have to connect my television directly to the cable, rather going through my receiver?

No, Comcrap will assign a new channel to the CW feed which all receivers will get, including the limited basic crowd. However, they may or may not have that ready by the time the new fall season starts on the CW. I have had to deal with two goofs with them already with cable in my Mom's new place. Therefore, I call them Comcrap.

Actually, you can bet all cable systems in the Jackson market will carry CW once it's back on the air. Most likely for U-Verse too. The real wildcard is what DirecTV and Dish Network do, since CW would be on a over the air subchannel. They tend not to carry subchannels that aren't one of the big 4 networks. However, in our case, they were carrying CW last season and would probably add it back because a lot of subscribers would miss it.

Acutally, DirecTV has already added another CW channel, they are showing an East Coast feed on channel 14. So they took care of their customers. I was able to connect my cable directly into my TV, rather than using the receiver, and I could pull in 12, 12.1 and 12.3. 12.2 was missing as you stated before. So hopefully you are right, and it will be back up and hopefully in HD! What guide are you speaking of, where you saw the CW programming listed from 7 to 9? Again, thanks for responding to all of my questions.

Hi, just got confirmation from WJTV, that they plan to launch the CW channel on 12.2 in late September. Thanks again, for all of your help on this matter!
Since they replied to you, please ask them the following questions (if they didn't give you an answer already):

1. Will 12.2 broadcast in HD (as I suspect will be the case) ?
2. Have they reached an agreement with both Dish Network and DirecTV to carry 12.2 CW when it goes on air in late September?

I ask #2, because the first show of the fall season airs October 5th or 7th (can't remember at the moment) and the satellite companies usually take a couple of weeks to get the new signal configured correctly before making it available to subscribers.

I did send a reply back asking whether the channel would be in HD. Have not heard back from them yet. As I said before, not sure about Dish, but DirecTV already has a channel for their customers. They are watching on channel 14. The first shows are airing October 3rd, The Vampire Diaries and new spin-off The Originals following.

They are @ Tampa Bay, can't imagine blackout it's a 2 day drive to Tampa.
They are on now, must've been a weather delay.
There was a 1 hr & 9 mn weather delay to lighting at the park. It started in the 1st quarter right after the initial drive that ended in a Saints fg.

Latest update on CW:

According to Twitter, WJTV states that the go live date for CW 12.2 is September 30th, provided the needed equipment arrives in time.

Also, here is the link to the CW promo created by WJTV:

Today it's WTOK's 60th birthday, so if anyone up there found some of these footages, please post it here. I wanna see it because I'm live in Mobile.

Has anyone heard anything new on Dish airing the cw?? I miss all of my shows!! lol
post #1880 of 1895
Have you tried an inexpensive antenna? Makes for a good back-up, in case of Dish going out, too.

Florida @ Missouri looks pretty good on 12-2; 480i but Widescreen.

Since it hasn't been reported in this thread yet, WJTV CW 12.2 is officially broadcasting in 720P HD as of yesterday.

Now if Media General and Dish Network can come to an agreement and hopefully add CW in HD as well......
Good news. Comcast has it in 720p, but only over straight cable, not over the HD box, yet.
Back in 480i now.
I was able to mount my antenna outside two weeks ago. I finally get WJTV at practically 100% signal strength now. It is awesome finally getting to see the CW shows in HD. I am amazed that WTJV can actually successfully cram CBS at 1080i, CW at 720P and AntennaTV at 480i without issues. Hopefully, Dish Network will add 12.2 CW to the Jackson locals package soon.
Still 480i over Comcast Cable straight wire & 720p OTA.

This afternoon while Shepard Smith was announcing the death of Nelson Mandela, I tuned from Fox News Channel to Channel 40 and then back to Fox News Channel. I noticed that the same report on Channel 40 which had to break in to report Mandela's death had a whole lot of Static on it. I did not believe that a break in from Fox to Channel 40 would have that much static on the line. The report that was the best was the Fox News Channel which was doing the report live and feeding the Fox Television .Network across the US.

Comcast has added the CW in HD over cable box channel 435, SD 212 & over wire 69-2
