I wish WLBT would stop stretching Leno and Conan. It is hideous.

Yesterday was the first time I have seen them stretch the picture on 9-3. You can always watch the normal aspect ratio on 9-4.

Just for grins I recorded the NBC primetime lineup Thursday night. 'Joey' started in SD, after a few minutes it went to HD for about 3 minutes and then back to SD. Granted I was fast-forwarding most of the time but nothing else appeared in HD that evening.

I haven't been experiencing the drop in signal strength on WLBT-DT. My signal fluctuates between 70 and 80.

I finally got around to watching some of my recorded programs from this past week and I am still getting picture freezes and stutters on WJTV-DT. It always happens at the most inopportune time in the show - it's pretty amazing how bad the timing is.

my hr10-250 gets a steady signal 90 on WLBT (frequency 9) no drops, large outside uhf/vhf rca antenna about 15ft high, no amp or preamp, out in brandon.
have not seen any true HD from them yet tho signal is full power and audio is fine.

no clue if it would work for you but a guy in the hdtivo forums claimed he used a FM trap ($6 at radio shack) to cure his ota signal drop problems. some amps, preamps come with a fm trap may have a switch on it to turn it on/off.
well well, finally the Notre Dame game is in true HD today. now let's hope they leave the HD switch ON.
my signal is still terribly erratic...87 to 40 to 0 etc. No wind, no nothing and the rest of my channels are terrific.

I'm almost getting a solid 98 on WJTV, but otoh, WLBT is the one fluctuating badly for me. All the other stations are solid most of the time.
I am in the same boat with you guys (on the fluctuating signal just for WLBT)...wondering if maybe it is not on WLBT's side.

I may give it a few more weeks until they have their HD automatically switching & their guide info appearing on DirecTV's guide.
welcome to a very low power, very directional VHF signal. Will be surprised if WLBT's signal gets any better in the near future.
I did a channel rescan on my HD boxes / HD TiVo & now WLBT is at 3.1, 3.2 & 3.3. Their call letters (WLBTDT) are up now on these channels...lets hope their guide data is to follow...
all the other OTA channels with no problem or dropouts, with WJTV it goes from 90 to 49 and then nothing. They are terrible. Anyone else having drop out problems, what can we do to resolve this issue?
Spoke to WLBT & they are working to get the guide up for DirecTV...they are aware of it & are checking into why it is not coming up. Hopefully we will see the data in the next few weeks.

Also called PBS & they are looking into why theirs is not passing through

I am getting WJTV at 93-95 consistent...what kind of antenna & preamp are you using? They were having some problems at Sat. the 19th, however they were fixed on Sunday.
Anyone using XPMedia Center able to pick up WLBT. I can get all the others but Adding 9 to my system doesn't get me a picture. My signal strength if 100% but no picture. I don't have any problems with other OTA HD.

The guide DL from M$ is still trying to pick 51 as thier frequency and so is Antennaweb.org

Using MCE with ATI HDTV Wonder.

The guide data is now showing up for WUFX-DT 35-1 on D*'s HD-Tivo guide. You may have to do a channel scan to complete the setup.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

thanks sf. lol, that only took months to get done sure hope the guide data for wlbt-dt doesn't take that long. Now if we can just bother wufx/wdbd to turn on the true HD in time for some of the playoffs, 24 and nascar next year.
wlbt let the hd switch employee off for thanksgiving, Joey and W&G are not in HD........
Successfully watched WJTV all day yesterday with my USDTV box and a cheapo rabbit ear antenna. Hope it holds.

Enjoy.

WJTV is killing me today. It's never been this bad. Nothing on my side has changed but my signal strength has been going up and down like crazy - and only for WJTV. Every other digital channel is fine.

No HD for the LSU game either...
about 2:40 here and wjtv signal is ok, a 92-95. still not HD tho for the game.

It finally cleared up around 2:30 or so for me.

Anyone with HD-Tivo - are you seeing two entries for 35-1 in the program guide? I see:

35-1 WUFX-DT - No guide data, but I can tune to this channel
35-1 WUFXDT - Has guide data, but I cannot tune to this channel
post #321 of 1838

I already tried the option of clearing all scanned channels and then doing a rescan.

Don't waste your time. Thanks for the response.

Anyone notice that WAPT's signal has dropped to the mid 70's (or is yours still in the 90's)?
Emailed PBS on their guide data not showing up on 20-1 & 20-2...here is their response:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the Guide info. At the present time the best place to get the information for HD (20-2) is from our website. 20-1 programming info is the same as Channel 29. Hopefully within the next year the equipment will be installed to allow this info to appear on your screen. This is a link to our website:

Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Thank You,

I've noticed the same thing.

So - what's everyone think about WLBT's HD? It's a little bandwidth starved, but the Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live have looked pretty good.
Just rescanned my channel list last nite before Survivor. See that channel three is now part of the lineup but haven't had a chance to watch much yet. ON the other hand, watched Survivor on 12 (WJTV) last nite off the cheapo rabbit ears and USDTV box. NO problems.

Enjoy.
same here, when will we be able to get NFL in HD?

Last night SEC Champ game on WJTV...signal very erratic and had to watch on analog. Tonight trying to watch the Chiefs vs. Broncos game, it was consistent...consistent at 0%. Now there is NO way that my antenna is receiving 0% of a signal that is out there. Again, the rest of my channels are very stable and watchable.

My question is, why are others getting WJTV with little problem and some of us aren't? My setup is the same as reflected by my stability on the other channels. I still contend they screwed something up when they went to what they call full power.

Still waiting to see if someone has a good phone number or email for them to complain to?
I agree something may have changed when they went to full power. I've made a couple posts about trying to watch Survivor in digital (not HD of course) off my USDTV HD box and having all kinds of problems with WJTV.

But those problems SEEM TO HAVE PASSED. Granted I did not try to watch the Denver game yesterday although I did THINK about it. But I had no problems watching Survivor last Thurs nite and I had plenty of trouble right after their big change (as is noted in my posts)

I only wish I'd known to check them on the football game yesterday so I could add some insight into your troubles.

Overall, I'm betting they're playing around with their 'new toys' (the hd stuff) all the time and we only notice when it HOSES up!!! But I hear your pain. I wish they'd all get their eggs in a row and move the HD/digital ball forward.

Enjoy.
inconsistency. Know what's worse than no HD?....BAD HD. Anyway, thanks for a great broadcast of CSI and I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is finally fixed.
