I read somewhere that on more recent TWC boxes they set it up to disable the component if the HDMI is plugged in. Is this true? Any "work-arounds" ?
Yes, component is disabled if HDMI is connected. However, at least with the ODN software running on the SA8300HD, the S-Video and RF (channel 3 or 4) outputs are still active. So, if SD will do, you might be able to use one of those. If you must have HD then a HDMI splitter
may do the trick for you providing both sets have HDMI inputs. Keep in mind, that there are some limitations in sound (read some of the reviews).
