That will probably be the case with the new HD DVR also, I am sure.
But it is the immediate FUTURE - like it or not, and I for one want them to start adding MPEG4HD channels, and I believe they are waiting for this new product to launch.
I certainly hope I'm unduly pessimistic. I certainly want D*s new HD DVR to be an improvement on the HR10-250, too.
Yes, there will be different experiences on the quality issue. And, as with the HR10, people with problems will be far more likely to post than those with none.
As for more MPEG-4 HD channels, I want them as much as anyone, but at this stage not many exist; none that would cause me
to rush out and get a new DVR, at least. (I doubt D* will strike a deal with E* for Voom channels, not that I think they are all that great. ;) )
I'd sure like to see D* add RSNs and the rest of the local OTA channels, but that doesn't seem to be coming soon, bandwidth or not. (Yes, I'd like to be wrong there, too, but I think there some financial constraints in play.)
I'm lucky enough to be able to get 8 HD stations OTA, and those are what I watch (record) 85% of the time, so the HR10 suits my immediate needs. But that is not to say I wouldn't sign up for something better, whenever it arrives. The operative word is "better."
