Help with N. NJ OTA reception

I am getting high 70s and 80s for CBS with a cheap Rat Shack Bow tie and Channel Master Amp on my DST3000. I have Channel Master 4248(?) in the basement till it gets a little warmer to put it up. Anyway Fox shows up in my channel list but I can't get any signal higher that 10. NBC, WPIX and ABC never show up in my guide.

Any one have any thoughts?

move your antenna placement, or try a better antenna. indoors, the RS double bowtie and the silver sensor seem to be the best bets. Outdoors there are plenty to choose from.

Consider yourself lucky. I'm in central NJ, and I can only get philly CBS in digital. And today I can't even get that for some reason. I'm either going to try a different STB, or get a CM amp, but I'm rapidly running out of options, and the will to keep going back to the stores...

I reside in Millstone Twp. probably the same or further from the Philly Roxy tower location, and receive Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS all the time. I too had problems before I used software that located my site and the towers and gave me a heading for my antenna. I was originally like you only getting CBS and ABC when I was 30 degrees off. DTV seems to be very unforgiving with directional ie: Yagi antennas!!
May be worth checking......

Without knowing your location, I think you'll see a big difference when you switch to the CM 4248. I too started with the RS bow-tie and was able to randomly pick up a few NY and Philly stations, but with the CM 4248 mounted in my attic I am able to solidly receive CBS, NBC, and FOX from NY as well as CBS and ABC from Philly. Keep in mind that both NBC and ABC in NY are still testing, so they're not up all the time (actually, ABC has only been up during NYPD Blue on Tuesdays). FOX has basically been up most of the time so you should be able to get that as well, considering that they are both broadcasting from ESB.

thanks for the input. i did get a graph of signal directions from antennaweb maybe (?), which did show me I was off by about 10 degrees. Unfortunately, having this knowledge doesn't seem to be helping much.

Also, I should mention that I only have an indoor antenna (well, actually, 4 of them at last count), because I'm in a condo and can't get to the roof. so sadly no yagis for me.
