I just had an interesting conversation with a pushy DirecTV sales person... one where she made a claim I believe to be false and I'd figure those here could possibly shed light on the subject. She was trying to tell me that DirecTV has higher quality picture signal than anyone else. I happen to subscribe to SureWest, as well as receive some OTA HDTV. I had a hard time believing that DirecTV had a higher quality HDTV picture than SureWest, but that is not why I pose the situation here... She also said that the picture quality is equal to or better than OTA HDTV. Granted, if one has either a weak signal or a lot of multi-path interference, there may be a disruption in picture quality on an over-the-air broadcast, but I can't see how satellite can do a BETTER job. I was under the impression that satellite provided compression to their signals. I specifically asked about KOVR (CBS 13)... she insisted that DirecTV provides the same or better picture quality as an OTA antenna. Could this possibly be true? I tend to believe she was full of fecal matter on the subject and was just looking for a sale.
