I'd really appreciate some antenna assistance. I'm experiencing constant dropouts on KTXL and it's killing me during the 49ers games, among other times. All other channels come in fine 98% of the time. I'm using a HDHomeRun Dual, which has three signal meters. All three are in the 90% to 100% range with KTXL and the amp, but I still get near constant dropouts on this one channel.
I live in East Sacramento and here is my TV Fool
report. I'm about 22 miles from the broadcast signals, and the only ones I really care about are the major networks and KVIE, all of which are between 187 degrees and 189 degrees from my location.
I have a Mohu Leaf with the Audiovox/RCA TVPRAMP1R preamp. I've tried all over the interior of my apartment, and I can make the KTXL signal a little better, but then I lose KVIE completely. Interestingly, the TV fool reports these two stations seem to be coming from the same spot. The main windows and living room area in my place are north facing. Putting the antenna in a window drops all signals to zero, which I'm assuming means there's foil or something in the windows. I've also tried the Radio Shack 15-254
which was significantly worse than the Leaf. (I've also used the Leaf without the preamp, which was somewhat worse. I bought the preamp in an attempt to solve the KTXL issue).
I'm on the first floor and there is heavy tree cover around the apartment and neighborhood, and a two story house right next door, directly in my line of site to the antennas.
I don't have reasonable access to put an antenna outside. The existing RG6 cable coming from the outside is being used for Internet access and because it's a rental, I don't want to punch another hole. I'd really prefer an indoor antenna, but I could probably put something in the attic if I had to. If it matters, I have an asphalt shingle roof with a big metal heater/AC unit on the roof.
I'm looking at the ClearStream C2-V, but am unsure if this is going to solve my problem. Any advice? Maybe something more directional? Thanks for the assistance.Edited by cnccnc - 1/13/14 at 9:15am
