New information on KD-34XBR960 - Page 3

^^^
You will be surprise if this set is compare to one with a higher resolution.
This may have already been reported, but the KV-34XBR910 is being offered at a significant discount by JandR (25%). However, CC and Tweeters still lists it at full price. I hope the JandR price is a good indication that the 960's will be out soon.

Didn't someone mention that the new 34" widescreen Panasonic was already out? If so, has anyone seen it yet? It wasn't on JandR or Circuit City. Amazon lists it but it's not yet in stock.

Here's something to keep your whistle wet... (a scant 3840x3624 pixel image :D )

where do you get the discount??? I show the 34" 510 for $1699... they dont even sell the 910...
Here it is:

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.proc...BR%26reg%3B+TV

You then click "email me price" and it comes back with the discount.

Jamison, wasn''t it you who referred to the Panasonic 34" being in the stores?

Stereodude, I like it!

PS It's 20%, not 25%.

Stereodude,
Thanks for the picture.

Question to anyone, Can components (DVD, TIVO, STB) cables be run through the back or middle leg?
I don't think the stand would look too good with all of the cables hanging from each stacked unit.
The stand is butt ugly but functional, I guess.

thanks
Al

Do you think the stand is ugly? I think its contemporary,..and from what I read, can hold this heavy tv set (the stand comes with braces to hook the tv to the stand) This makes the stand and tv combo extremely sturdy..... I Just bought a componant stand from Circuit city that matches the tv and the stand (the glass shelves match the glass shelf for the stand=Frosted):

As for the wires, you thread them through the center post (which hides them...)

JamisonBWolsh,

Thanks, now your talking. Ugly? Yes, IMHO.
I grew-up with wood furniture and round figures, like the fenders on my '49 Chevy. Hehe
Yes, by itself the stand isn't the best looking piece of furniture, just functional.

It's just a presonal preference. Some people like all wood furniture (like you). That style is nice and this stand will not "fit into" that type of living decor. HOWEVER, the majority of people are more into contempory style. The silver/metal fits in perfectly in. Sony is not dumb. They would make a stand that is stylish FOR THE TIMES... Check your local circuit city. You will see most stands are in with this type of style. Hey, on the other hand, if I loved the age of the 60's, should I be complaining that sony did not have a yellow/orange/green stand with peace signs all over it? Get with the times...... Silver and metal is IN....Dont you want to be popular? :D

I just wish it had more room to put my components so i did not have to buy the rack... oh well..I LOVE the rack...

After shipping and the stand you can probably do as well at Circuit City.
nope, not when Circuit City is still selling it for $2,499

when I add up my S/H it's $1,980

But the stand is free at CC, and there's no shipping. Plus they will negotiate with you. Hence my comment.

Circuit city is NOT offering the stand for free..... They lowered the price to $199 as the normal price.
The sonystyle.com site shows free shipping on TV's and free premium shipping (including setup) on big TV's. This promotion runs through June 10th. The XBR910 is listed as "currently unavailable". This information hints that the earliest we will see the new XBR960 will be after June 10.

I would offer free shipping too if i'm selling it for $2.499 http://media.teamxbox.com/forum/smilies/err.gif

I don't think no one can beat the $1,799 price.

In the 60's, I was there and I still have my "peace flag". We thought it was pronounced "sunny" and about all they had was a transistor radio. Nissan was called "Datsun". Yes the times have really changed, most young people have "rights" and they abuse them.
Oh well. They will see the ways of their errors.
Nuf' said.

I would think you should be able to do better then $1799 on the 910. I bought my 34XBR910 from a local retailer Thanksgiving weekend for $1850, which included the free stand. Of course, I had to pay $50 shipping and tax, but that was a good price.

I think I would be a bit careful about buying anything there.

some buyer feedback (perhaps disgust is a better word)
I would agree with Mechanic.

On PriceGrabber I found a site selling it for $1830 with a far better reputation on ResellerRatings and the stand only costing $100.

My point? Look around, and don't always jump on the first (or immediately lowest) price you see.

Nobody is jumping on anything, that was the cheapest price i've seen on the set and that's why I posted it... Also all online merchants have negative comments you just have to make sure those comments make sense, there are alot of perfectionist people out here.. I would never reccomend buying from anyone with alot of buyer dissatisfaction.
No harm meant, no harm meant. I've been price searching these for a long time, and there's been about a dozen or so stores on Froogle who have been listing prices too good to be true for months now. :)
When the XBR960 comes out this summer with a MSRP of $2200, I suspect most vendors will drop the price of the XBR910.

I hope so! How can they sell the old model for more than the new one...

They can easily do so until the new model comes out, then the price might drop for the old model in a closeout sale - just wait a few months.

Bruce,
No "duh". We are fortunate to have this forum and the wisdom? of its members. Some people don't know when new models come out, so they buy what they see and by what the salesman says.
What!!

We're not talking about salesmen holding back info about a new model... joxer and I are discussing that a store can still sell TV's for the advertise price right up to the release of the new model before lowering it, and since he made the comment to me (something I already knew) I commented with "duh" meaning I already knew this.. :p
