Given that co-owned KWWL in Waterloo is airing two subs, I'd say that's what you're looking at.

And this is a dynamite free zone.

Not me. I get my ABC programming elsewhere. I won't put up with macroblocking, etc.

Who said anything about dynamite?

What is going on with the Nightly News on WMTV?
Several times in the last few days the 5:30PM NBC Nightly News is NOT in HD.
Is the network not sending it out in HD or is some one at WMTV forgetting to "flip the switch" to HD?

Just wondering.

cool I hope Charter gets replaced by Time Warner. They give you free HD atleast!

Anyone with Charter in Janesville? have you seen the Rockford local channels? They are downconverting the HD signals to analog and on a widescreen tv it looks like a small square box in the middle of the television. It's hilarious and annoying at the same time.

Oh I heard TCI-Cablevision is coming back to Madison!!!!!! AAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I've not heard of any national complaints, so it must be local. I'm normally not home when the news is on at 5:30, so I can't check the feed, live.

if charter did go chapter 11, what happens to charter customers?
just cut off?

They would continue operations. If they go Chapter 7, then there would be problems...

No Ellen, ET, Wheel of Fortune in HD either.

This was on Charter channel 615. I could see the WMTV big red logo in the top right corner, just not a HD picture. It was 4x3 format.

Tonight it (NBC Nightly News) kept switching from HD to SD several times during the broadcast.

Anyone else seeing this?

New NBC gear installation in progress. Closed captioning was missing so we had to troubleshoot on the fly, that's why there were switches back and forth. Sorry.

Mattymo:

What the H E double-hockey-sticks happened tonight? I tried to edit tonight's Fringe but VRD kept complaining that there was no data. VLC was able to play it. I looked at it with TSReader and it was there. I cut a clip to send to the VRD programmers. But when I looked at the clip with VRD, it had no problem with it.

So, I hauled the file into VLC again and this time went to various places in the show and found a big section of zero data, starting at about 45 minutes. After quite a while, it came back, SD upconvert.

Did the damn splicer take a dump?

Yes, it did take a dump... and it was locked up so hard that FOX/GVG couldn't dial in, it needed the ol power cycle. Can't wait for the new stuff to get here... which is like, um, who knows when!

yeah, sucky, cuz I hear it went to nothing right at the end of Fringe... I'm sure I'll get to see it on the DVR when I try n watch it later. good thing all the episodes are on "FOX on Demand!" heh.

Ya, it should arrive about the same time as the new IRDs

It crashed about 45 minutes into the show. When it finally came back up, it was in local mode, i.e., upconverted net, for the remaining few minutes.

Oh ya, HD Fox on Demand ... not. I'm getting an HD copy via a different route

Hooray, the House was finally thinking and got it right.

The DTV delay bill has been defeated.

Wow! I'm shocked.

Pleased, but shocked.

Not quite defeated. It got over half the votes, but needed 2/3rds and failed. But enough people were thinking. Of course, the Senate will try again, so don't celebrate...

I believe the senate had passed it 100% so 2/3rd wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I could too, but I only need to see it once... no need to archive here...

And.... we're getting a replacement splicer soon! Good thing we don't have to pay for these, I thought I saw somewhere once that they were $40k new!

Even if I don't archive it, since it is an HD program, I want to watch it in HD.

Ouch, $40k each. Good to hear that you are getting another in.

Oh Crap!

If it gets passed by the house, and signed, there will be less than two weeks before the 2/17 date.

Ya, just what we need, all of the broadcasters yelling: "NEVERMIND!"

I hope that a mass majority of the broadcasters give Congress the finger and shut down on the 2/17 date anyway.
Tom/Mattymo, now that it seems likely that the June 12 date will become a fact, have either of your station's owners come out and said when 2/18 hits your stations will be DTV only?

As anyone heard what any of the other stations in town are thinking of doing?

I remember 15 saying they would shut down at "the end of the day" on 17th.
I had thought it was supposed to be noon....?

The law is for the end of the day on the 17th, not high noon

Nothing stops a station from pulling the plug at noon, that I know of.

You lost me. There is nothing special that the Madison market stations have to do, other than power down the analog transmitter. There are no flashcuts in this market, or digital channels changes.

I guess WKOW-DT 27.1 doesn't give a rats ass about it's PQ.

I cannot watch college basketball today it is so ******! I don't remember FOX 47 looking this bad when TheTube was on 47.2
