Is my memory bad or did 47.1 use to send program info out with their carrier signal. PSIP right?

The only time I have seen any info other than DTV Program, was during the super bowl. Although the OC is passing the info right now.

NBC 15 looks better already...

Yes, exactly the problem I reported on 1/7. Glad you got it fixed.

Any new news on the HD channels Charter is supposedly adding in February? Is there a date yet?

BTW, I was on the notify list for the PVR, they left a message a week or so ago that it was now available. Hasn't that been available for like three months now?

Both recordings were filled with alternating clear PQ followed by instant macro blocking then clear PQ. It seemed to happen every 4 or 5 seconds. Both programs were unwatchable.

Well FWIW my recordings on NBC15 of Apprentice and ER played back fine last night so maybe it's related to the dueling PMT's mentioned here earlier. There is some lining artifact on stretched SD content like The Aprentice and I also notice it on Conan but that's been there forever. HD content is perfect.

I was wondering if we'll ever see UPN14 programming on it's own channel and subsequently in HD. The reason I wonder is because final channel applications were due into the FCC yesterday and UPN14 wasn't listed so I assume it'll still be a sub channel of WISC. Looks like Fox47 wants to switch to DTV channel 47 (from DTV 11)and NBC15 wants to switch to DTV channel 15 (from DTV 19). Here's the link:

Input Form 382 and city/state then click the application link on the results page.
Enjoy,

Off topic, but what in the heck was wrong with charter internet service last night, it was barely working at all. Oh well, finally got around to watching I.Robot and Hero.
Yeah, I have Charter business internet and it was definitely hosed last night.
Yep, it looked to me like their DNS servers were down. Name lookups started working again at about 11:30.

The best part about it, I thought I had issues, because I just upgraded my wireless network this past weekend, and had just replaced my card's drivers. Providers always seem to have outages when I change something in my setup, causing paranoia & unnecssary freak out. Gotta love technology.

By my watch it was down from about 8-11:30 pm. It was very odd because email was working fine, but no internet, my guess is DNS server problems. I realized it was system-wide issues when no one was answering the 800 number though.

Our PSIP info should have the program title that's on. I put them all in myself, we don't have a subscription service for this yet.

When FOX is on the air, I'm not sure how they pass on their data past their network time.. (our local stuff)

Im not getting any program listing on either my Samsung T165 or my Hughes E86

Well I am going OTA, I ditched Charter but only kept 3 MEG speed. I just need to find someone who wants to sell either a 8VSB really cheap for a 6000 and then find the right antenna. I am about 8 miles north of Janesville.
I would prefer something that would mount on my Dishnetwork 500 dish. Hopefully, any suggestions and pricing are welcome

Seems like we're having some encoder problems, so we're in SD right now, which means the FOX Splicer won't work... so we're all SD all the time until further notice. (hard to get good tech support on weekends!)

No one responded when I posted this question a few days ago, so I thought I'd ask again in hopes of a response:

I've been having trouble picking up 47 WMSN as well. Tonight I did get it briefly, for really the first time in quite a while, but the picture was very shaky, and the audio was in and out. I have no trouble getting other Madison stations like WKOW, even though I'm in Whitewater, so I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. Anyone have any suggestions? I have an RCA HD tuner with the Zenith Silver Sensor antenna.

Fox 47-DT is actually broadcast on channel 11, which is VHF, the silver sensor is UHF only, so you will need a VHF (rabbit ears) and then combine the antenna's signal into 1. Radio shack can help you with this.

According to pretzelkid's post, it sounds like fox47 has requested to use channel 47 to broadcast in the future, but for now you will need a VHF antenna as well.

Good thing this didn't happen last week, i think there would have been a couple super bowl parties that would have been a bit upset. Good timing at least.

Our multiplexer reverted to an old set of parameters. The trick was finding the one set that worked!

Anyone else have trouble with 27-1 last night? Analog station was fine via OTA but the digital on 27-1 OTA was unwatchable. Constant picture and audio breakups and freezes. It seems to happen everytime there's any type of rain or snow. Only the digital gets screwed up. Even the crappy D* feed is fine (as fine as it ever is).

27-1 was fine here also. I would think if it was weather related all your digital and analog OTA would be affected uniformly. I currently have a problem when temps go to 5 or 6 degrees and below with picture breakup and pixelation and it affects all my OTA channels. Must be a loose connection or a temperature sensitive pre-amp but it gets worse when i rotate the antenna a lot so it must be a connector. I'm still debating if i have the cajones to go up the 55 ft. tower to fiddle with it.

Guys, this thread is da bomb. Thank you for helping me with my WISC-DT problems. Sure enough I reset my receiver and have full access to all the HD locals. Too bad Fox is showing "24" in SD.
Matty are you going to be able to get HD back before sunday for the Daytona 500?
Our high definition encoder went south, and unfortunately, the replacement came DOA today. Hopefully if all goes well, we'll be back in HD by tomorrow afternoon.

I'm pondering making the gray bars go black, to make for a more seamless transition for local breaks during network programming.
Please do. It wont really effect anyones tv unless they only watch your station 24 hours a day (with only SD programing)and even though your station manager would love that, it has about as much chance as each of us receiving our very own Charlise Theron clone that will do what ever we want.
Yea I agree change them to black. I don't know whats more annoying...the gray bars or when the 4:3 picture is slightly off center and there's more black edge on one side or the other
post #536 of 5626
I can't get 3-1 or 15-1 tonight. Did a scan twice, and each time they didn't come thru at all, anyone else with this problem? My wife wanted to see Judging Amy in hi-def and widescreen, but alas she can't.

I was wondering what kind of bitrates your encoder is doing. When I record an episode of 24, it ends up being 8GB like you'd expect, but when I import it into EyeTV on my mac and rip out the commercials, the resulting TS is only 2.7GB, which gives about 8Mbit/sec vs 19Mbit/sec of the original stream. Someone mentioned that you fill the remaining bandwidth with null packets. The 720p quality looks fine (better than WISC 3-1), but could you explain?

Adam

p.s. -- In my opinion, Sinclair shouldn't charge Charter to carry the HD feed, but I understand that it is out of your control. I just hate having to switch my projector from my Moto6200 to my ATSC STB to watch FOX.

Im getting PSIP from 47.1 now.
